Highlights

Garden City ended the magical run by upstart Miller Place with a 9-4 victory in the Long Island Championship for Boys Class B after leading at the half, 5-2. Garden City will play either Niskayuna or Cornwall in the New [lacrosse] Downstate Class B semifinals on Wednesday, June 5th at Marist College. Note that Section II has reported a major delay in the last hour due to weather delaying the Niskayuna/Cornwall event. With Niskayuna's victory, Garden City will face that stern opponent in Class B action on June 5th.

Tim Rotanz scored six and assisted on another seven goals leading Shoreham-Wading River to another Class C Long Island Championship. Shoreham-Wading River will face Bronxville in the NYSPHSAA Class C Semifinals on June 5th at Marist College.

Ward Melville's solid passing and exceptional goalkeeping (second goal by Massapequa was scored with five minutes left in the match) led to an impressive victory over the Chiefs. Ward Melville clearly has sent a message in their bid for the state crown in Class A. Ward Melville's head coach, Mike Hoppe, has done a great job guiding this very talented group this season - their first crown in thirteen years.
