It is just easier for these coaches to just sit back and let their leading girl run wild. Another problem with this is unlike club ball you can not switch teams if you are unhappy so you have to suck it up and live with it.

One of the reasons you want to get out of intramurals and get to school ball is to get away from coaches that let a few kids dominate. You hope that the school coach does a better job of working more kids into the offense. Club ball doesnt help this either, everybody is looking out for their own stats these days

Spread the shots out is a great plan but you need multiple high skill level girls to get it done. Let's face it, for some of these players (not all cases) passing the ball away to another player who can't get the job done is not a great option. The good players will pass anyway but many teams do not have more than one or two girls who can take to goal for real. Every team has many willing to go to to goal, [lacrosse] bent, only to get a weak, ill advised, dribble of a shot off in non free space, when well defended (doubled and tripled even). Set plays with cutters and feeders is great lacrosse, but you need multiple players with crisp skills to do it, that leaves many coaches conceding to go to goal mentality. Point is, don't always blame the coach.

But woudn't the perfect time to develop those players be when there is a huge point spread? Why keep the skilled players in, racking up the points, when the win is already in the bag? Who does that benefit? Oh yeah, the player who wants to be the Newsday point leader. Isn't part of the coach's job to develop the players?

Agreed, players and parents think unless they are getting 5+ a game its not enough. Unfortunatly lacrosse which is a beautiful game can also be a very selfish one. The landscape has never been more competitive and that is driving some bad behavier by clubs, players and coaches. Got to get mine...
