Tied at nine with about 3:30 left, Chris Brown scored unassisted to give Farmingdale (6-1, 1-0) the win in Conference A-I. Farmingdale trailed 9-8 with about 2:00 left in regulation until Tom Kennedy scored unassisted to force overtime. Brown and Kennedy finished with two goals each.
Smithtown East 13, West Islip 6: Kyle Gerfo won 14 out of 18 faceoffs to lead Smithtown East (3-1) in Division I. Freshman Dan Rooney scored five goals and had an assist. It was Smithtown East’s first ever win against West Islip, the defending state champion. Brian Balkam recorded a dozen saves.
