Turnover at the collegiate level is always high but typically not this late... Last round of college coaching changes that have been finalized for Fall Ball and for the 2019 season.

Hutchinson Heads to Notre Dame

Former UMBC offensive coordinator Neil Hutchinson has joined as an assistant on Notre Dame's staff, according to multiple sources close to the program. Former assistant Matt Karweck was hired as the head coach at Colgate on July 26th, leaving the Irish's position vacant for close to a month.

Hutchinson was added to the Retrievers' staff in July 2016, spending two seasons there as assistant coach and offensive coordinator under Ryan CoachMor. A 2014 Towson grad, he spent two as volunteer assistant for his alma mater.

*Joe Bucci has reportedly been promoted from UMBC's volunteer to full-time assistant, per an IL source.

Towson Hires Grossi

Former Richmond assistant coach Steve Grossi has replaced longtime assistant Dan Cocchi who left for Rutgers in August as the new defensive coordinator at Towson.

Grossi spent 2 years working with the defense and face-off men for the Richmond Spiders under HC Dan Chemotti and also taking the lead as the program’s recruiting coordinator. The 2009 Drexel grad was previously the defensive coordinator at Princeton, also making stops at St. Joseph’s and Division III Hampden-Sydney following his playing career for the Drexel Dragons.

Princeton Adds Mizhir

Tiger head coach Matt Madalon has hired Culver (Ind.) assistant Tucker Mizhir as Princeton's new volunteer assistant, according to last weeks press release.

Mizhir played a prominent role in Culver's success over the last four years, helping the Eagles to a record of 82-12 and several finishes in the national top five.

*Former Princeton volunteer Steve Soriano left his post to be an assistant coach at Bellarmine, his alma mater, joining former Cleveland State assistant Kyle Bernlohr.

Penn Hires Rob Forster as Volunteer

According to a tweet from College Crosse's Chris Jastrzembski, former Academy of the New Church (Pa.) head coach Rob Forster will take over as the Quakers' volunteer assistant. A former standout at Penn State, Forster was the head coach at ANC for five seasons after two years as the offensive coordinator for La Salle (Pa.), his alma mater.

*Penn also hired OC Mike Abbott during the offseason after Pat Myers took the head coaching job at Lafayette.

High Point Tabs Tuma as Assistant

High Point University has added former Ohio State volunteer Justin Tuma as the Panthers' next assistant coach, according to a press release in late August.

Before heading to Columbus Ohio, Tuma spent 2 years on the staff at Princeton as volunteer assistant. The former Roanoke standout began his coaching career in 2013 at Randolph-Macon.

Binghamton Adds Meehan

Bearcat head coach Kevin McKeown recently announced former Mt. St. Mary's assistant Scott Meehan as an assistant for Binghamton. Meehan spent the last two years with the Mountaineers, following stops at Richmond and Franklin & Marshall.

*Former Binghamton volunteer Paolo Ciferri also took an assistant coaching role at SUNY Cortland, Division III, in the off-season.

Lynch, Farley Join Holy Cross

Holy Cross interim head coach Peter Burke added a pair of assistants, according to pair of late August press releases.

Ian Farley comes over to Worcester as the offensive coordinator. He spent last year as Sacred Heart's volunteer following a year at Marist and another at Division III John Carroll.

Shayne Lynch will take over duties as the Crusaders' defensive coordinator. Lynch was the head coach at the Naval Academy Prep School (R.I.) for the last four years.

Svec, Higgins to Brown

On August 31st, Brown announced John Svec and Mike Higgins as defensive coordinator and volunter assistant, respectively.

Svec spent 7 years as the head coach at Siena before he and the Saints parted ways. After being rumored to join the Brown staff since early July, he heads to Providence following Matt Callahan's departure from college coaching at the beginning of the summer. Before coming to Siena, Svec spent three years at Hobart, also coaching at Albany from 2001 to 2008.

Higgins spent 7 years as Division III Trinity's head coach after coaching the defense at Tufts under Brown HC Mike Daly. He replaces former Bear volunteer Chris Schoenhut, who also decided to get out of college coaching.
