clubs are starting to decline...you don't have to play on a club anymore to be looked at...there are so many HS showcases and elite programs where college coaches go too...and if your daughter is as good as every parent believes they are they will be found !! coaches are friends behind the scene and all talk to each other ...they begin their recruiting months before the try outs are even posted !
Ummm......You can't be more wrong. Being on a competitive club provides game time experience. There is no substitute for that. There are no top girls at any HS on LI that do not play competitive club. Your daughter is not going just show up at some showcase and stand out without years of hard work and of course talent. Sorry
Speaking of competitiveness, we are a soccer family and just starting out with 4th grade club lax and one thing that is seems different is the hold backs. In soccer, when we played, we were always trying to play up an age group to eventually be ready for meaningful games down the road. Almost seems counterintuitive to be hold your kid back early on. Don't you want them to get better against better competition???
