Staten Island, NY – Wagner College head lacrosse coach Matt Poskay, who will enter his seventh season at the helm of the Seahawk program in 2018, has announced that seniors Andrew Streilein, Tanner Dixon, Andrew Park, and Joe Lomeli will serve as the captains for the 2018 season.

"We're excited about these four young men, each of whom are tremendous student-athletes and highly-productive players," said Poskay. "They're all possess leadership qualities and are extremely deserving of their roles as team captains."

For Streilein, this marks the second straight season that he will serve as a captain. The South Jersey native has been a top scorer for the Seahawks from the moment he first stepped on campus. He will enter his final Seahawk campaign already ranked No. 1 in Wagner history in points (116), tied for first all-time in assists (46), and third on the career goal list (70). In 2017, he was a Second-Team All-Northeast Conference choice after leading the Green & White in goals (28), assists (15) and points (43).

Park is a battle-tested leader on defense for the Seahawks, who is coming off a junior season where he ranked No. 9 in the nation with a caused-turnover average of 2.0 per game. All told, he wound up with 30 caused turnovers on the season in addition to collecting a team-best 42 groundballs.

Dixon has been an ironman in helping spearhead the Seahawk defense throughout his Wagner career, having started all 43 games in which he has played. He is coming off a junior season that saw him collect 19 groundballs while forcing seven caused turnovers.

Lomeli is a midfielder who tallied 19 points in his first season as a Seahawk in 2017, on 13 goals and six assists, in addition to digging out 14 groundballs, after playing first two years of his collegiate career at NJIT. He also holds the distinction of hailing from A.L. Johnson Regional High School in Clark, NJ, which is also where Poskay starred before embarking on his All-American career at the University of Virginia and ensuing stint as a Major Lacrosse League (MLL) All-Star.

The Seahawks are coming off of a six-win season (6-9), which matched the program record for single-season victories.

In 2018, the Seahawks will play in eight non-conference games, in addition to the all-important six-team NEC slate, with the conference champion again gaining an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.

Wagner opens the 2018 campaign by hosting Manhattan on February 10, before playing at Lafayette on February 16. A home game vs. Monmouth (Feb. 21), will be followed by road tests at Dartmouth (3/3), VMI (3/6), and Quinnipiac (March 10).

After opening the NEC schedule with a home contest vs. Hobart (March 17), the Seahawks play their final two non-conference tilts, at Hampton (March 20) followed by a local test at NJIT (March 24).

The month of March concludes on the 31st with the first of Wagner's final five NEC games when Saint Joseph's arrives on Grymes Hill. The Green & White then take to the road for match-ups at Bryant (April 7) and Sacred Heart (April 14). Senior Day on Grymes Hill will take place vs. Robert Morris on April 21, before the Seahawks wrap the 2018 schedule at Mount St. Mary's (April 28).

"Our non-conference schedule has a mixture of teams that vary in style of play which will help prepare us for NEC competition," Poskay said. "As for the NEC, every game's a battle, which is as it should be. Overall, It's an exciting schedule for a rising program like ours, and I know our guys will be pumped and ready for the challenge."
