So if you held your son back a year ,, would he start?? Of course he would, Holdbacks have an advantage and have more than their share of starting positions. Is there holdbacks not starting?? of course. There is only so many starting positions and too many holdbacks. And non starting holdbacks are still on the team.

Most starters that are on age are some of the oldest on age players. The on age players getting screwed are born between Feb to Aug. Not only do they not start, they dont even make team due to holdbacks,

Just the way Youth sports was to be played, letting select players get an advantage over others, Exactly how I was taught!

Just chiming in here; the last post is absurd. My sons team starts 9 on age kids and 4 of them are on the younger side. -Jan-Aug- 3 of them are also the biggest and most mature. More mature than the holdbacks. In fact not one holdbacks is the biggest or even fastest on team. Holdback does not mean a clear advantage over on age kids. Plenty of on age kids that are good enough and have advantage over others due to maturing a bit quicker. Very common for boys this age. Most boys that are being holdback its because they are not mature enough and need another year to catch up. Of course there are holdbacks that are just taking advantage to can an advantage but it is certainly not the case for ALL holdbacks.

Talk about absurd. Yea that is why you hear constantly about bigger and faster players that are held back . Now you apologists want to tell us that they are the smaller ones! Hilarious and absolutely ABSURD!

Maturity?? That is why holdbacks have an advantage. They start their puberty earlier than younger players on 7th/8th grade teams. . Lets just say that your team is the one exception to everything we hear and see and has all the small holdbacks and all the big on age players. LOL..

Did you see Baltimore Command UA team last year. It was so obvious to all that holdbacks ruled the team that even the guru of recruiting Ty Xanders remarked that they needed to do something about it. And you want to tell us that it makes no clear advantage. Many Clubs and MIAA schools promote holding your child back.

You holdback apologists are Absurd along with being Hilarious .
