BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University head men's lacrosse coach Trey Keeley has announced that Tony Tatro will join the staff as an assistant coach for the 2018 season.
"We are excited to bring Tony on board," Keeley said. "His defensive experience will add immediate value to our rich defensive tradition here at BW. He is a man of high character and will help our men develop both on and off the field. We are thrilled to have him be a part of the BW family."

Tatro brings eight years of coaching and 13 years of playing experience across all levels to his second term with the university as he was an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets from September 2014 to August 2016.

Previously with the Yellow Jackets, Tatro helped to coach the No. 1 scoring defense in NCAA Division III lacrosse for two consecutive years, the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, five All-OAC defensive players and an Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Division III All-West Region player. While Tatro was a member of the coaching staff, BW made two straight OAC postseason tournament appearances and were named regular season co-champions in 2016.

In between stints at BW, Tatro served as an assistant coach/defensive coordinator for Wittenberg University where he helped lead the team to a 9-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference and an NCAC postseason tournament appearance. Four of his defensive players were named to All-NCAC teams while two were also named first-team IMLCA All-West Region selections.
Some of his other responsibilities at Wittenberg included coordinating travel, managing team equipment orders, supervising study tables, mentoring the Wittenberg Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and assisting with recruiting along with other regular coaching duties.

Before coaching at the collegiate level, Tatro spent four seasons as the head varsity boy's lacrosse coach at Walsh Jesuit High School where he compiled a career divisional record of 31-22. He coached the 2012 Ohio High School Lacrosse Association Goalie of the Year and was named the 2014 North Coast League Coach of the Year.

Tatro spent two years playing collegiate lacrosse at NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University before obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies from Kent State University in December of 2013.

Keeley also welcomes Rory Jeffers and Alex Fioritto to complete the 2017-18 staff. In his fifth season with BW, Jeffers brings tremendous value to the program and will have a large impact in overall player development. He will focus on the offensive side of the ball as the assistant offensive coordinator. Fioritto joins the coaching staff after a stellar career as a Yellow Jacket ending in a first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection as a face-off specialist. He will focus on the face-off unit as well as serving as the assistant defensive coordinator and the substitution coordinator.
