API and Hero's, not MD United.

API website said it's API-MDU merging. 2019-21s will stay separated this year but will combine 2018-19 under the MDU banner. Younger teams start combining this year.

Stinks for MD United teams that have remained relatively intact for several years.

To present the image of an equitable merger, the new combined team will need to include a minimum of at least 1/3 of former API girls. Unfortunately for them, it's doubtful it will happen. For whatever reason, be it politics or bad eyes for talent, they let good talent slip through their fingers. They'll probably screw this up too.

Were there a lot of API girls at MDU tryouts?

Most API girls would have a difficult time making a MD United solidified team. There lies the issue. API lacrosse is not necessarily merging with MD United, it's the API facility that is merging with MD United. There is a need for a few players at the 2024-2026 age group at MD United, however 2019's-2023's are going to be difficult teams to earn a roster spot on as these players/coaches have been playing together for some time. This could all be changed if MD United adds a 3rd team at each age group, but most likely that won't happen. There was a time when over 100+ girls would show up for tryouts for one age group, only to create 2 teams of 22 (44 girls) and send the rest (50-60) scrambling for another club to play with.

I can guarantee Integrity is looking for more players, as well as some other start ups, such as Uproar, Naptown, Dark Horse, and heck even Rebels isn't too far away. Good luck to those girls and families who are scrambling. Hoping Finish Line Lacrosse can pick up the pieces of an extremely untimely "sever of ties."
