They change it every year, if they made it 8/1 this year then almost every MD team would have went. Most teams have a few kids born in August 03 which is why they did not go. They need to make the change now before try outs start. Last year they made the change after rosters were set and set by using the 5/1 date from the previous year. Rec,Club,US Lacrosse,WSYL all need to get in tune with each other to move this sport forward together. Age or Grade, just get it right so all can play by one set of rules.


1/1 is the new soccer standard used by most international teams. It is coming.


Soccer went to 1/1 to line up with the rest of the soccer world.... that date does not apply to lacrosse which has a strong grade based component to the established teams. There's nothing wrong with a date that aligns with grades, it just needs to be enforced as a strong date and not the suggestion that it is now because obviously people abuse the school system for their own athletic purposes.



Hockey went to 1/1. It is likely the date the just makes the most sense. Just looK at the year to see if they comply and you don't have to worry about months and days.
