On the one hand, good for a local team. On the other hand, this was a 2-4 Elite division team, meaning they weren't in the top half of their league this spring. I realize it's not possible for a tournament to figure out who the "best team" really is, but what does this say about this particular tournament? Good for the kids, not so sure how good for the tournament when people go home and start to figure out where the teams really are.

You really can't figure out what the difference is?

Actually I can...

What it really means is that grade-based teams aren't that much better than age-based teams. So all this nonsense about people either complaining about or praising the virtues of the holdback system doesn't mean that much. So let's all shut up about it.

Then let's stop pretending that you or anyone else knows who is the "best". It all depends on how many holdbacks etc. Way to many variables with grade based to call anyone "best" or anything "championship"

There are always way too many variables to say that any team that wins a championship is actually the "best" team. What really matters, particularly in youth sports, is how well teams compete.
