Wasn't even at birth year back in the rec days, not enough kids in the rural areas to field teams at every birth year, hence U13, U11, etc. This isn't pee wee football and baseball played across the country in ridiculous numbers. I'm all for playing up if you are dominant, but the negative rhetoric directed at players is not helpful, and does nothing. Grad year has been the cleanest system to date.
