I'm Catholic, son goes to a Catholic College, second son also going to a Catholic College. These are not words of bigotry, they are words of truth. If you're going to preach it, you'd better live it! If it was an oversight, then so be it. Take responsibility, make things right were you can and make sure polices and procedures are put in place to ensure it never happens again.
