BOTC agrees that there is no blame to be assigned to the club for the poor choices of a player. That said, the club's response to the situation is important. Responses could include:
  • Mandatory curfews for all players,
  • Mandatory team dinners and meetings in the evenings,
  • Additional chaperones or parent attendance requirements,
  • Circulation of a zero tolerance policy for any additional summer season off-field issues,
  • Development of a revised travel policy with effect for the Summer 2012 season,
  • Required apologies, letters, and community service if required.
Now, BOTC is not judge and jury on this topic. In fact, this is for the player, family, police, and other agencies to handle. Our point is that this is a teachable moment for the entire club, particularly one in the early years, to decide what they represent going forward.
