The helmets are approved for use. Its not mandated yet in NY State. I think it is left to the discretion of each section or School at this time.
The only player allowed to wear a helmet on a girls Lacrosse field is the goalie. Soft head gear has been approved by USlacrosse for many years it is optional. the only State making it mandatory is Florida for HS girls lacrosse.
Do you mean that the only player "required" to wear a helmet is the goalie? Or are you saying that field players can not wear helmets even if they wanted to?
Correct. Sore head gear is a field players only option. I am a Girls official it is cut and dry, no gray area. Also the only player with a helmet happens to be the most concussed player in women's lacrosse. Helmets do not prevent concussions .
