The coaches at St. Anthony's and Chaminade who also own a million dollar travel lacrosse program admittedly and routinely instruct 14 -16 year olds that they should "hold back". They then get another year of Express "tuition" from them. Now an unfounded implication that a public school coach suggested one player should do to that causes this comical indignation.


I have been involved in this conversation, and the options that were discussed were about how best to market a 14 year old to College recruiters. Anybody that would take advise from ANY club coach about anything other than lacrosse is insane, but if lacrosse is that important to you and you feel that lacrosse is a gateway to a great education than why not listen to what they have to say, you don't have to do it, just here your options. No different than parenting advise, take it all in and than do what you think is best. We never considered holding back for educational and social reasons so it was never even discussed but that doesn't mean it is not right for some kids and I have no problem with a club coach explaining it.
