What if a 2019 verbal plays on JV, or a freshman team? Seems like that should be OK, but maybe viewed as a dud.
IMHO If a 2019 that verbaled played on a Freshman team then the school knows what they are doing (since most schools with Freshman teams are Catholics so they probably know what they are doing). It is invaluable to keep a class together at least the first year whether Freshman (Catholics) or JV (Publics). That will create a bound and memories for a lifetime for the boys. Next year as a Soph is a different story.
That being said if a group of players were moved up together that could change things and be a good thing.
The answer to your question is not a blanket yes or no it really depends on the school.
