No bashing, but just making a few points. This question leads to the assumption that the purpose of playing is solely to get recruited. There are girls who get recruited for many reasons, I have heard of girls sending in recruiting videos for Soccer, B-ball and field hockey who included Lax in their recruiting videos to show athleticism and ended up getting recruited to play lax rather than their "primary sport" (doesn't happen often but more frequently than you think). But the majority of recruiting happens in two forums; the first being the club scene, the second being camps and these "elite" showcases such as the Nike 120 (many times arranged through club, but HS coaches can recomend girls as well).

Now to the question of whether or not a HS coach is still relevant? The answer is certainly yes, and for a few reasons. Your daughter will spend almost 3 months practicing with the HS coach, so whether or not they are good will impact your daughter's development in one direction or the other, this is huge because your daughter will probably have more HS practices each year (or close) than club. In addition to on field impact, the HS coach can/should still have a supporting presence during recruiting (usually not a primary role). A good coach can/should facilitate needed info to potential college coaches, grades, stats etc.

So they are relevant, and the better your HS coach is the more positive impact it will have on the overall development of your daughter and the cast that plays with her.
