The above post is spot on. My nephew played at one of the highest rated NESCAC schools. He had very good grades but nowhere near good enough to get in without sports. His cousin who was the Salutatorian at a HS that graduated 1500 kids didn't get in. It cost him less than his sister SUNY degree. Based on need. His parents make a combined 300k. Figure it out.
