Um, I can't think of "one of the most talented players" on said team that was cut. I really can't. Some very nice boys did not make it back though, unfortunately.
Deserving kids make team while others do not for reasons that are both fair and unfair. Politics, back room deals, etc. are rampant especially as we start getting close to the onset of the recruiting years. It is not, however, as simple as looking at the roster and deciding that the best kids must have made it. In some case that is true, in others the luckiest or most hooked up kids made it. You obviously choose to believe that everyone cut from whatever team your son is on were lesser players. We know that because your son is on the team and they are not. Therefore your son is one of the better player. If you ever find yourself in the unenviable position of suddenly having to scramble to find a new team for your son I suspect you will be back on here wailing about the injustice of it all.
