Does anyone know how pools are set up? Our 2018 team from Mass Elite played in a very weak pool (games were against other clubs 2nd teams TG Purple, Sky Walker White etc) and they won all four games by scores of 18-5, 18-7, 18-1, 17-1.

Not saying they should be in top pool, but it seems like quite a waste of time and money to go all the way to Virginia for that. Can't imagine college coaches get all that much out of games like that.

Are pools set up on how the clubs have done previously? Do club coaches have any influence on placement? Just curious if anyone knows. Thanks.

Clubs tell tournament organizers what level their teams play at and the organizers put them in like brackets. A Mass Elite parent told me this weekend at one of the "white" team games that the rosters are fluid depending on who signs up to play. So one week white can have a better mix of A players and another week Red could have the better mix. Judging by the results from this weekend, red had the better mix of better players.

I heard somewhat of the same thing regarding how teams were put into their respective pool; that is that the coach rated their team with 4 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. I was also told that the higher the number of the pool, the better the quality of the teams in the pool and if you look at the 2016-2018 pools, it looks like it is the case.
