On HS teams ? No such thing as a manager, assistant coach maybe.
Our HS has a Team Manager. They have NO idea what they are doing and do report scoring/does the book. The coaches should do this and get it right. In 4 games almost everyone is wrong. Coaches should be proactive in making corrections as well when they knowit is wrong. Our coach does nothing about that either.
Besides the fact that coaches are too busy to do this during games, it's a sad fact that some of them have vested interests in padding stats, too. Gotta make sure the player you're promoting has the numbers and gets the post-season awards. Bitter, yes, but I've been around HS sports for ten years now and I've seen it. And don't think it ends in college because I've seen stats padded there, too, just to make sure a high-profile player's stats remain in the national ranking. That's when I learned you can get an assist when you were several touches away from the ball. Sarcasm intended.
