Unfortunately you are correct for many teams this is true. But not the case for the really good teams and you can pin the goal to goal culture of a team directly on the coach. Somehow a parent walks off the sideline beaming after a player spent the entire game dodging, resetting, shooting and netting 8 goals. As a parent you should be embarrassed. There are teams and players that play a very unselfish game, including many/most of the players on offense. It is great to watch when you see it in motion. There is nothing more painful and pathetic to watch than an individual effort, win or lose.

Sorry there is nothing more painful to watch when a team is up by 6 goals with 20 minutes left, playing keep away either get up by more goals and get other players in or continue to attack the goal this 20 minute keep away is pathetic. I would rather watch great indivudual talent going to the goal then watch keep away.

How about at up 6 someone other than a point hound gets to go to the cage? Maybe the goal scoring percentage comes down and game stays close but we keep playing lacrosse instead of keep away. We just don't need to see the same kid get 15 points while everyone else watches.

Agree with that, but I have to say I've seen our HS coach tell our point hound to stop scoring and she does not, she "forgets." And because she is his pet, she stays in while the does the V8 headslap. She (and her parents) are all about the numbers.
