Unfortunately you are correct for many teams this is true. But not the case for the really good teams and you can pin the goal to goal culture of a team directly on the coach. Somehow a parent walks off the sideline beaming after a player spent the entire game dodging, resetting, shooting and netting 8 goals. As a parent you should be embarrassed. There are teams and players that play a very unselfish game, including many/most of the players on offense. It is great to watch when you see it in motion. There is nothing more painful and pathetic to watch than an individual effort, win or lose.

It is pathetic, and unfortunately, it's coaches at many levels, but like powder said - doesn't work against the good defenses!

Coaches that don't play kids and coach ball movement are in programs that are dying. Who cares if your team has an all American if everyone else around her was recruited off the kick line team. If we are winning by 10 how about making a pass, I'm just sayin
game yesterday in Suffolk - 2 players had every point for their team. Not one other player had an assist or goal out of 12 goals scored. Oh they lost by the way.

Perfect example, looks like to play on a team that says get the ball to XYZ and then get out of the way. Think all the other girls are having a good time? You are losing and they don't touch the ball because they have been told they are not worthy to go to the cage. Next step is your surrounding squad will be from the POm squad.
