Valor coach getting tossed from their 1st tourney And their new player
Starting off setting a good example …
What a mess What happened? Which club has the best culture? Was looking at Valor for my son, but don't think he would enjoy it if there's a lot of yelling. Also looking at Express, Legacy, and Shore2Shore. Thanks for any input. Rebels is a safe spot, good staff, it’s a small knit group with lots of talent.

Went to watch a LUHI game and like 8 players were Express or 91 is seemed. They are really pulling in some players there. LUHI will be an elite team in a few years. You go to LUHI to repeat a grade because your Dad thinks you will become taller/faster/bigger than you are actually going to be. You are just peaking early.

Re: Boys 2028 Grads - Mid Atlantic Region

Aaand the thread dies with a whimper after 99.9 percent of these kids are now ensconced on JV (or quit), bc, you know, math. Who knew? It was fun while it lasted, I'll never forget the golden quotes, "My 7th grade son is being looked at by numerous high schools." "HoCo elite players have the expectation of making varsity freshman year." "Brian Kelly told my kid that you have to make varsity in 9th grade to get seen after 10th grade." (Winter of 8th grade), "My son is expecting numerous full scholarships to HS." What's funny is that if you walk around the MIAA schools during weekend/after school events, you can see all the kids who have already quit the sport, still wearing their Crabs, FCA, and 91 shorts and hoodies. So much for "developing athletes" - these clubs have some of these kids for 5+ years, year-round, and then when their 3rd line of "elite" players get a sniff of what high level HS lax looks like, nevermind, they just quit. So much for Dad's big lax ambitions and Mom's MIAA lax sticker in the Yukon. Pretty sure there’s not a 2028 on an MIAA, IAC, or WCAC team will have any impact whatsoever in legit games. Sure, maybe when they play Ryken or the public’s, but not in real games. The level of play is simply way above 14-15 year olds at this point. But no need to quit or lose the window decal, lot of sophomores will have big impacts on these teams This may hurt but there are starters on several teams. 28s in MD/Nova drive to school.

National Top 25
1. Summit (N.J.) 2. Darien (Conn.) 3. Springfield-Delco (Pa.) 4. Garden City (N.Y.) 5. Severna Park (Md.) 6. Radnor (Pa.) 7. Half Hollow Hills East (N.Y.) 8. Westfield (N.J.) 9. East Islip (N.Y.) 10. Wantagh (N.Y.)
Couple LI teams sitting in nice preseason spots What national ranking is this? Severna Park is like #17 in MD. I think this is USA lacrosse Looks like public schools only? Correct

So the 4th ranked school (EA) in the Inter-AC just beat the number 1 team in the state (Radnor). Public School lacrosse is officially dead Radnor is no longer the number 1 public school in the state. This is a down year for Radnor going off the dominate teams they've had in recent years that literally won 4 state championships in a row, which is unheard of. Keeping up that level of play at a public school for more than 4 years in a row is highly unlikely. You know it's difficult to win 1 state championship yet alone 2 in a row. Radnor graduated a lot of players that are now playing college lacrosse for top NCAA teams. Either Springfield or La Salle will most likely win states this year. LaSalle is not a public school Thanks captain obvious. La Salle is not a public school, that is well known; however, all District 12 schools still compete for the PIAA state championship each year. Many people disagree with that especially from a football perspective where St Joes, a private school in district 12 that recruits, has been running through public schools every year on their way to state championships. Anyway if you could connect the dots you would realize that if Springfield and La Salle are the two teams that will most likely win states this year, that would make Springfield the best public school in the state this year.

Where did you see legacy had a rough weekend? From the stats they lost one game. They outscored the bracket by 6 goals. They finished in third behind the Checkmate Hammerheads and 91 Valor (32). Aren't they a AA team? Checkmate is a b team and does not play AA tourneys. Legacy played in a b tournament and couldn't even reach the finals. At least they have done the right thing and put those kids in b team tournaments.

What’s going on with McD? Are there injuries or something? Yes. They are sitting people out in FL to keep them healthy for conference games. Those drooling over MIAA teams losing in Florida really have no clue. Just another excuse the same as " these dont mean much as we are preparing for the MIAA grind". Sorry folks, MIAA is not that elite anymore. Does it have some well trained players and good teams, absolutely, just dont go playing other good teams and use excuses as you get beat. Not a good look . You really have no clue. Just like college, really good players with minor injuries are sat during nonconference games to save them for conference games because in the end, that’s all that matters, conference games, not little spring break games in Florida that clearly get Florida dads thinking they the king.

"the question re private . is it worth it from a lacrosse perspective and can anyone actually speak positively about any of the schools?"
Of course there will be positive (and negative) comments about the private schools, why are you fishing for such subjective details?
Let's talk Lakeland HS and Wick for moment;
Lakeland HS has a Dartmouth lax recruit (’25 goalie), yet I know of a younger FO player that left Lakeland for Wick. Why leave Lakeland when there is proof that a player can be recruited to a top DI school? Most likely, the Goalie is an exceptional student, while the younger player is just average in school and unlikely to have a high enough GPA to be considered.
So, how challenged is your son in the classroom? the question is, if i wanted to send my son to private, what schools/coaches do people like etc

ML asked to reschedule, Clippers declined. I kinda love that Clippers declined bc most ML teams duck the 1st week of the season anyway. Glad that at least somebody is willing to call them out on it. It's impressive that ML won handily anyway.

Looks like tournament season started!!! fool weekend that just passed. What teams should we be looking at this year? Who has tournaments. What teams should I have my kid try out at? Looks like 91, Express East and True are going to give the best training and competition. Anyone have their tournament schedule?

Re: Team 91 MD

91 is a top team with exceptional players and coaches. How could you not recognize the two recent teams that were best in country by far. Many players on top of recruiting lists Funny how you can't say "the last three years" because only the 2023s and 2025s were hand picked and intensively developed by Big Daddy, which is not how the 2024 team or the 2026-2030 teams work. Anyone somewhat neutral would expect 91's 2025 class to have massive highlight reels this spring. 2026s and beyond? Same level as NL, FCA, Crabs. MM and Austin put in an obscene amount of work and relationship building to make absolutely certain that the 2023 and 2025 teams were, as you say, "best in country by far." The 2024s of course "for some unknown reason" finished up 1-3 at their final NLF and 1-4 at IMCLA. Final rankings.....#4 team....in Maryland/DC. #25 national. 2026: #5 in MD/DC, #2 Team 91 squad, #18 nationally 2027: #7 in MD/DC, #7 Team 91 squad, #45 nationally 2028: #8 in MD/DC, #2 Team 91 squad, #55 nationally 2029: #8 in MD/DC, #2 Team 91 squad, #48 nationally Only a matter of time before MM takes the money and runs, and Hilgartner takes over a respectable elite club that will never be "best in country by far" ever again. Spallina is in the same process with 91LI which is why the younger 91LI teams have fallen off the map dramatically in the last year. So stop trying to brand the 2023 and 2025 teams as some kind of typical result for the club. It's gotten so tiresome. Take a peek at Team 91's social media. It is literally JUST Millon hype. Mark, Brennan or McCabe. MAybe another 25 team highlight heare or there. But no other content. It's laughable. I don't know that it's laughable......t's just good business. (yes, this means it was never about the players). The business is owned by the Millon family. The next likely owners are also Millons. Of course they are highlighted or as the kids would say "A Millon Glaze Fest." Mark is a good business man and that's how you publicly build the multi-year transition of ownership. LOL to the other kids paying $3K/year to be on the "best club in the country by far" and can't get featured on a 91MD reel. It's just business.

Elite Hawks Blue Claws Clippers Next Level Severna Park HLC Madlax
And exciting enough 91 and Crabs have to do a play in game for the eighth spot
AAA Pro Start Team Maryland Predators Kelly Post Grey FCA Bethesda Hoco HLC, Blue Claws? Play in? Looks like total BS. Results don't lie. HLC won the AAA and beat both the Crabs and 91 last year. Blue Claws finished 5th in Elite and beat all 3 last year. They also beat crabs and 91 this fall. Ummmmm, AAA !!!!! There is a world of difference between AAA and Elite. HLC won a preseason game against 91 after the team had just been put together. But we now reach that point where the name clubs get a lot stronger, especially as they jell as a team. HLC, Blue Claws and the other rec based clubs often do well at the early ages, having a good supply of young talent, and keeping teams together for a couple of years. But then, just as HLC took the best of its rec program, then the best of HLC end up wanting more and joining the name clubs. The LAW of the jungle. Which is another way of saying, "the major clubs have no intention of developing their young youth teams, and are really just waiting for the AAA stars on the rec-club teams to take their rightful place, whereas the 3rd grade Crabs players will all be cut gradually through 6th-8th grade."

Re: MD Girls 2028

Is it normal for club coaches to ghost their girls during the high school season? Our coach hasn’t reached out to see how tryouts were or anything. Do they normally reach out prior to now? I don't think I would ever expect my DDs club coach to text us in the off season.
