Give me a break. Cheating happens everywhere, unfortunately. Please don't suggest that Long Island teams are necessarily more honorable than other regions. There are losers everywhere.

Age based brackets with birth certificate proof is the only way to stop this! Anyone saying we should go by grade is trying to cover for their kid who they held back. If we go by grade, there must be an age cut off. Can't have older kids hiding in lower bracket because mommy and daddy held them back a year. School starts in September each year. Make the cut off sept 1 for each grade. Anyone born after, needs to play in next grade up. Don't worry grade repeater and hold back parents, your kid will still have his advantage for the school team.....

What if that kid is the same size or even smaller then his classmates? Then does it matter? You will always have a couple of kids in a class that are just BIG regardless of age. I have three boys and all are different sizes for their age. My youngest towers over most of his classmates (HIS AGE) in hight and weight and my other two are average to small. If the coach registers his team according to the grad year it should all even out on the field, on both sides. Each Team Roster should have all the players names, age and US LACROSSE numbers listed and the tournament directors should use that information prior to check in. Why does US Lacrosse issue ID Cards in the first place?

I was the coach that made the initial complaint, and asked the tournament director to come view the second half of the second game we were playing in. Not sure if he ever did, but after I insisted that he come and view the game we were playing against 7th, 8th and 9th graders , he did from afar, but did nothing. After speaking to our team parents we decided to leave rather then wait around three hours to play another team that we shouldn't be playing. I hope it was worth it to the organizers of this event to lose the nine teams from our organization that participated in the tournament in the future to appease those organizations that knowingly cheat. We need to start really respecting the game, and not just saying it because it sounds cool!

Very valid point. I didn't care for the "rising" grade format, although that shouldn't take a genius to figure it out.

If they did it 2 years in a row, they're just cheaters. Parents beware!

The Big Time Shootout directors should get this info out to other tournament directors
