Ok I guess we comment here now. I saw a bunch of TG and YJ teams play Saturday afternoon at ND. First at Cherokee and then over at Savich. Is it just this age group? It seems like an unusually large drop off between first and second teams in both clubs. There is always a drop off of course, but this age seems bigger. Or is it at all the younger ages as more clubs spring up and syphon off the players below the top team. How in the world does YJ put 5 teams out there and call them "Elite". What a snow job.

Skywalker Blue was the best team I say in this age there. And I know M&D has beaten up on them this year.

There was a really good turn out at Lax For The Cure this weekend. Almost all the top clubs were there.

The top 19 YJ team is a mess! the start of recruiting and coaches fk up lines...... Don't let girls practice and play with the same group... Top girls are on D during championship games or rotated out.... happens? we lose, BUT ATTACK NEVER LEAVES FIELD, hmmmm... DADDY COACH? Or is it Smithtown team???????????total screw balls.... the year colleges will come and look and NO PRACTICES just lame excuses. Always hear things are for real or made empty promises but no changes. colleges are sitting on sidelines and we're losing because they can't field the strongest version of our team. any parent can create strong lines, why cant tc/kc..??? CAROL, WHERE ARE YOU???? TC AND HIS MINION ARE LOSERS!

M&D, as expected, won the 2019 bracket championship defeating Hero's 19 Green in the final at Lax for the Cure.
Hero's beat YJ Carro in the semi to make it to the final by a score of 6-5.
M&D 19 Black beat Skywalkers 19 Blue to to make it to the final by a score of 4-3.
Unfortunately for TLC 19 Red, only the first place team in their bracket got out of pool play... and they were in the same pool at M&D.
These are undoubtedly the top teams in the 2019 Bracket: M&D 19 Black, Hero's 19 Green, Skywalkers 19 Blue and YJ Carro.
M&D is 2 for 2 winning the championships where all these clubs competed: McDonough Club Championships and Lax for the Cure.
Unfortunately, the Lax Inception final game which would have seen M&D match up against Hero's 19 Green again was cancelled.

Had M&D won it, It would have been the grand slam of Summer Lax Circuit: McDonough, Lax Inception and Lax for the Cure!

Congratulations to M&D!

It was a tightly played championship game. It's going to be fun watching these teams go at it for the next few years.

It is clear that mnd has the top girls 19 team but their program is weak outside of their black teams. Heros and YJ clearly have the best programs going.

Just curious what your criteria is for opining that Heros and YJs have "the best programs going?"

And are you talking about over all, or just this age group as this is an age specific thread.

A question who was coaching when YJ 19 Carro beat Skywalkers Blue on Fri. ?

Coaches are gone by the time playoffs start. They don't roll the dice on the chance you might make the playoffs. If they are interested they will be at your scheduled games. What coaches will look at is , does the player have meddling parents who are likely to cause them headaches for four years by second guessing their every move.

Agreed! What a shame

Carro team would lose to 2020 yj every time, they're not a top team for the age group by any measure

When you have won games against the top teams in an age bracket ( M&D, Skywalkers) how can you not be considered a top team , you don't really make any sense unless you are just stirring the pot.

"Carro team would lose to 2020 yj every time, they're not a top team for the age group by any measure"

I don't even want to justify the crazy YJ 2020 parent who has to post on every age bracket thread about his kid (because that is really all he cares about, not the whole 2020 team), however, anyone that does not recognize the YJ 2019 Blue Carro team as a top tier team at this age bracket is kidding themselves.

The fact is there is so much more parity now between the clubs that on any given day one top tier team can beat the other.

Very little separates these teams. One more save, a hit pipe … The scores between the top 5: M&D, Heros, TLC, Skywalkers and YJ have been very close. One thing is for certain: M&D has the most wins… in fact other than the loss to YJ Blue Carro in the Mid Atlantic pool play, I don't think they have lost a game in tournament play.

So while they are all good, this year the M&D team is leading the pack at 2019.

They play excellent lacrosse and are a lot of fun to watch.

YJ Carro is the worst top team in the YJ organization and is a stain on CR reputation .First off the actual head coach barely shows , his buddy the assistant coach is a complete joke and shameless in his promotion of his own kid and her town friends in favor of kids who are clearly better players. How many times is he going to call isolation plays for his kid ? The funny thing is ask any non Smithtown parent what they think of Coata and everyone of them will say the same thing , he is a clown who realizes he has to be involved coaching in order for certain kids to get ahead as their play does not stand on its own .Not sure what's more pathetic , the jackass coach purposely burying the best kid on the team during a game in which the college she wants to go to is watching, the fact CR knows he is a clown and does nothing , or the parents who are all too afraid to say anything to the coach or CR.

Have to agree, its the shining example of what's wrong with a daddy coach, especially on what is supposed to be a high level travel team at recruiting age.

It's been going on all season. When college coaches are on the sidelines they do wierd things with the top players.

What do you mean by weird? Sit them and put who they want to be seen? I'm sure CR would not be happy about that.

Just wondering who this best kid on the team is? No names needed but what HS does she play for?

C'mon really.
These type of posts always start problems. Why not go watch them play and form your own opinion!
There is no reason to make a post like this.

Or threaten the parent of an opposing team player. Sad that those are the standards YJ coaches are now held to.

Totally agree with the above statement. This team will never win a tournament with the current coaching staff. If you implement a new coach with no hidden agenda, this team would be a tough out. That would be the easy fix.

I love the fact that Dad/Coach/Napolean ran out of the tournament as fast as he could. After losing with his "best players" on the field. What a coward----he would not face the angry mob that he has created.

Is it necessary to address the abilities of a young girl? You have a problem with the coaches and CR fine, but leave the kid out of it.

i hope these smithtown parents realize that their children are being viewed as not deserving of being on top team. daddy coach has put the smithtown players in a position(deserved or not) that the rest of the club views them as not deserving. he should be removed.

Waaaaah......Cry me a river , you could never tell that this team is approaching recruiting age . If your superstar is that good she will get noticed. All of the College coaches are long gone by the time the playoffs start so you didn't miss out on anything except some traffic sheeeeesh you people are amazing. If you have a program that your daughter is interested in sign up for their camp and you can guarantee that the coach of your daughters choice will have 3 days to watch her. Of course then you will have no excuses.

I know it's been said before, but after years with YJ or TG it's extremely disappointing that this downward spiral happens during the key year for the girls. They deserve better.

Yes all the kids should have to go to 4-5 different camps for an extra 3-4k so they can be seen because some homer coach is only looking out for "his" kids. What is going on with that team is just simply wrong ,what's worse is at this point CR has to know but seems to not care. You have kids playing out of position for entire games and kids not even getting into games so the kids from the coaches hometown can be showcased, there is nothing fair or right about that.

Guess what that's exactly what your daughters future coach will request. She will want to measure you up against other potential recruits in her drills. If you are among a schools top 3 recruits most likely not but otherwise be prepared to attend some camps.

If you do not think that college camps are worth it and have put all your eggs into the club basket - I can understand why you are getting upset about who plays or does not play. Good luck with the whole process.

They also want to see you play at these tournaments and want to see you play the position they are looking at you for. Its a disgrace when a coach obviously favors their daughter and their town kids ,all these kids should be playing in every game .Have seen that act come back to bite these daddy coaches and their kids before. If a college coach shows up at a field hoping to watch a kid play and that kid gets little playing time it annoys the coach .The other issue is you create bad feelings with the parents on the team, some of these parents have relationships with college coaches, be it thru older siblings, past friendships , mutual friend etc., when they talk with the coaches their evaluation of their kids coach will definitely be discussed.

Just so I've got this right you're going to bad mouth a club coach to a college coach and think it will reflect poorly on your daughters coach? How long before the college coach figures out they can do without a troublesome parent who talks behind coaches backs.

Actually my point was more about coaches they already have a relationship with , personally I have a business relationship with the husband of a college coach . My kid has no real interest in that school but have had many discussions over the years with both the coach and her husband about parents , coaches , and players . I am comfortable expressing my opinion as I have an existing relationship w them . I have friends with kids on that team and each has said its a nightmare so if asked I would tell them I hear the coaching is a nightmare . Not that difficult to understand and I believe that reputation has affected kids in the past .Good luck to them, I hope it all works out .i am not a big proponent of daddy coached teams .

You people are a nightmare. Ther is none of this stuff in Maryland that I am aware of. There are plenty of colleges that need good players so chill out. Very few if any will go to umd or unc. Relax.

BOTC has been around for about 5 or 6 years, it started out as LI lax scene and has a very strong following. The boards and threads were set up to support LI interests. I think part of the rationale of the recent club thread removal was likely to better engage other locations in thread discussions. You definitely see an increase in MD team chatter now. Anyway the point is that all this stuff goes on between the MD clubs as well, I see it in the last couple weeks already. Once BOTC soaks into the MD (and other locations), you will see that the MD people are not above what goes on here, exactly the same things will happen.

Of course then you will have no excuses.

"Kids playing out of position"??? In 8th grade????

You have lost perspective on this whole thing (or maybe never had it).

The kids in 8th grade should be able to play any position. They hopefully aren't pigeon-holed by coaches or their no-nothing parents. If you're kid is quote "playing out of position" in 8th grade, then she is likely not that good if all she can do is play one position. Sorry to inform you, but I guess someone should.

Young players (and yes 8th grade is young) should be playing every position, and learning the footwork, skill and strategy of all of them. If your club doesn't allow that, because they want to win over developing the players, then I would switch to a place where they value the kids more than the almighty dollar.

If your daughter is destined for college lax (and certainly high level D1 lacrosse) a coach will recognize her abilities no matter what position she is playing on the field. She will be making a difference and standing out athletically and with her lax IQ.

But even more importantly, it's frick'in 8th grade!! Can they please have a little fun without parents, coaches and hangers on putting so much pressure on every game/tournament/play etc. CHILL OUT!!!!

So I have no idea what u were trying to say, but if a kid is good enough to play (i mean actual see the field) at Maryland or UNC, you do understand that Coach Reese and Coach Levy will not need to see them playing "their position" in 8th grade. You r all too funny. An 8th/9th grader committed to Maryland could play w the wrong side of her stick and blindfolded and the coach could still see how talented they r ... and that top recruit, or anyone else at that level, could wait quite a long time before committing if they, and more importantly, their parents wanted to. So yes, if the parents of girls that are good enough to go to Maryland and UNC as 8th graders want to, they can tell Reese and Levy anything they want. And quite frankly, I wish they would. Because if the top 10-20 girls in the country would wait until they r at an age to make a semi-informed decision about where they want to go to college, then the whole recruiting process would slow down and it would be better for everyone.

But that can never happen because I have been telling my daughter and anyone else that would listen that she is going to be the first to be verbally committed in her age group!

That sounds close. Overall, it does not matter what position they play now if those coaches have other plans for them. What are you going to do as a parent if they want your middie to play attack or defense.

It's a showcase format, let's see if the cream really does rise to the top. Win or lose - it should be fun. This is why we drop all this scratch. For this kind of competition. Overall, all these girls that will play this weekend are going to be winners in the end.

CR should get this thing sanctioned by US lacrosse and call it the US club championship, somehow all these great teams go, US lacrosse needs to team up with someone in order to draw all the best teams.

check site after the weekend. Have watched heros all year long. Barely lost to mnd in finals of spring league which is real competition in Baltimore. Don't lose to tlc. Beat sw 75%. Beat yj 50% and lose to mnd by one every game. Check back and reply you were wrong next week!

Has steps beaten anyone? Maybe switch them and sjs. Yj don't play competition every week starting in February so they can't hold up to tough competition one after another.

Steps likely to finish in bottom 3… they haven't done well this summer except for the Rock the Field where top tier competition was lacking. T3 haas done better and competed against stronger teams.

1) Team Smithtown ( must be the best as they never come off the field, have practice in their back yard , cancel practice if any are unavailable).
2) MD
3) SW
4) Heroes
5) TLC
6) SJS
7) MD united
8) Steps
9) YJ (non Smithtown) players , only purpose is to fill in for Smithtown kids when they need a break.

Yes so has YJ, that being said has TG beat the this year as they seem to play no competition. TG 2019 has been hurt bad by defections , lost 4-5 of their top ten kids

This is not a championship format but a showcase. Will be interesting to see if all 27 players get equal time in front of the coaches.

I think the point is how can this be the best in the country if TG who has been several teams listed isn't invited because of whatever reason. TG can play with all of these teams

Charlie stack the schedule in their favor? STEPS 2018 Blue (A team) playing, M&D Black, Maryland United East, YJs Rose, TLC Red, and Hero's. I guess that is stacking the schedule in their favor? Do a little work and look at the website before making a stupid point. Your jealousy comes through loud and clear. Guess your team wasn't invited.

[/quotes The thought is its exactly what you said a complete money grab which is genius by them but it is also a great idea . How many times have you seen on this site discussions of who has the better players Suffolk or Nassau etc. Obviously Suffolk has passed Nassau by easily at this point.

Looks like a little nod to all the "B" team yj (keep training, you're almost elite) and "A" team yj who ride the bench in competitive games - build it and they will come! Another feather in dads resume

I am completely at a loss as to why all these parents think CR has any real ability to influence anything and why they throw money at her as if it is the only way for their daughters to advance in lacrosse. Here are some realities:

The coaching at YJ is no better, often times worse, than coaching at other clubs.

The reason YJ is good is because on LI many of the better athletes choose lacrosse from an early age, whereas in other parts of the country, they choose other sports. And YJ had a first mover advantage in establishing its brand. Does anyone really think all these great players come out of the program because of the program/coaching?

It is quite simple to have your daughter recruited to the places she would like to go as long as she is qualified athletically and academically. The CRs of the world would like you all to think otherwise. It's like real estate or buying a car these days w the internet and resources like edmunds or zillow. There are plenty of sources of information and avenues to access the necessary tools and relationships.

So while CR and her ilk want everyone to continue to believe that she is some kind of gatekeeper with power and influence, you all can happily ignore if you like. If, instead, you want to pay her gobs of money, your choice. Just don't be fooled into thinking you have to.

And why do you care so much to write a novel about YJ and CR.... If you don't like it, don't play there. When you write a novel you expose your insecurity. The real question for most of you who complain is why do you feel the need to come on here and EXPLAIN, DEFEND and ATTACK why you are NOT doing YJ. Whether it's the money, the coaches, the program, the parents... blah blah blah- Just don't do it. When you blab on here it exposes you are INSECURE bout not plying there by being so defensive. Not for anything - no one really cares.

I don't see it as being insecure, I see it as speaking the truth and maybe letting others know what goes on behind the scenes.

Trust me "anonymous" poster. Plenty of people care.

The posters who voice there opinions about the issues they feel important may help the new parents decide to stay away from this club. Maybe the massive politics and what many feel is an incredible money grab may steer some away. Maybe people will realize they don't need to pay so much money to help their kid grow as a player and young woman. Maybe just maybe they are trying to change a culture of political favoritism and exploitation built on fear of retribution. If it helps even one kid then it's worth it.

Wow! The G8 was a nice weekend of lacrosse. M&D finished 5-0, then Heros, Skywalkers and Yellow Jackets finishing the weekend 3-2. Pretty well all tight games between the top 4 teams. Why can't all tournaments be like this?

Was at Lax Blast today Happened to catch Levy's Legacy '19 team play Beach Bums. Legacy was easily beaten. Very far from any semblance of an elite team. If he took the "best" T.G. players than T.G. is better off without them. I do not have any affiliation with either team, as my daughter has graduated H.S. and played for neither club. I always said Levy was a second rate coach that was handed good talent with his '15 T.G. team. If I was a parent that defected from T.G. I would be on bent knee begging Shannon to take me back. Legacy will never be a top club

You have no affiliation with either team and your daughter is out of hs.... Why do you feel the need to talk so horribly about any club???? And also.. Z why were you at beach lax then? Actually don't care about that, but put your "passion" into something else...something helpful

Why do you feel the need to tell someone to redirect there passion. Were you one of those parents saying how poorly TG would do without you daughter, Do you not like someone completely independent of the situation giving an opinion. I bet your one of those parents saying how much better TG was than every other cub, including Beach Bums, just a year ago. Those parents that listened to Levy got sold a bill of goods, he can not bring this club to any prominence. As far as putting my "passion" into something els...something helpful, If I can steer a single parent and player away from a overrated coach, coaching at a sub par girls lacrosse program, and wasting a year of there lives, than I find that extremely.....Helpful.

Nice try at deflection. And by your response, it appears you care.

The comment used CR and YJ as the example because the topic on here was her "MONEY GRAB" tournament. And everyone seems so excited about the G8 (which they should be from the standpoint of great, fun competition, not college recruiting), which is a CR money maker. So it seems appropriate to use CR and YJ as the example, because they are the most glaring one. But a careful read of the post by you and you will notice the line "CR and her ilk" ... to translate for you that means CR and people like her. So CR is an example, and really good one, of the people trying to exploit parents' fears and insecurities and turning them into cash cows.

I have had two children go through the recruiting process for sports, one lax and one another sport. I have one more just beginning that process (albeit at a stupidly young age compared to the other two) and I think it is really important to try to bring some perspective to this whole club BS. It seems you are the one that is insecure and defensive. I am completely secure in the knowledge that my children will be just fine without me bowing to people like CR. I have no problem with you doing it though. I was just trying to let others who may be new to this know that they don't have to if they don't want to.

Isn't it all getting to that point - selling the parents the sizzle? It's totally mind numbing how many new clubs are sprouting up around MD and their sales pitches are more outrageous than the prior. I will at least give them kudos for the 6 wins - though they should have done a touch better backing up their sizzle.

That is the danger of going to a stacked tournament, you get to know where you stand very quickly. For many clubs it make sense to stay away from the real competition, go to some lame tourny and roll over the competition.

you are an Imbecile. Legacy Lacrosse LI is Levy's program. He doesn't have a 2019 team. His 2020 and 2022 were in PA this weekend and all of his teams did quite well. What you saw was Legacy Lax, from the Hudson Valley, not Levy's program. Now open mouth and insert foot.

How the 2019 "A" Teams did this weekend:
Liberty 2019 Black: Champions (5-0) defeating TG 2019 Black 2x in the process.
YJ 2019 Carro - went 3-2, lost to M&D and Hero's.
Elevate 2019 Blue - still in progress, but currently 2-1 with their loss coming from the Long Island Wave.

Legacy was able to benefit at start up from a stacked 2020 age group. Both YJ and TG were deep with talent and many were willing to give another club a try, due to fystration with politics. In the end they ended up with a decent top team, basically a good B level. Building other good teams at other age groups will be much harder. Boys clubs expanding into the girls side never seem to work out. Levy may have been better off on his own.

Because it was run by CR and Steps Elite. Guess they only wanted the top teams, hence the lack of LI representation.

Okay - I took the bait and looked at the results against M&D. Looked from the beginning of this year at the Spring Club championships up to the G8. There were several times when YJ played M&D and Heros. But, as far as the comparison you were recommending - there was not a single instance when TG played either M&D or Heros this year. I was thinking that they would have played at National Draw, but M&D did not attend this year.

Watched them play , I believe it was lax inception MD vs TG , the game was non competitive ,not sure of final but was 14-4 or something like that before I left .TG lost to Liberty and have not beaten anyone this year ,they can no longer be considered an A level club team. Maybe they reload with some disgruntled YJ and become more competitive next season.

The games have to be played on the field. I don't think there is a sure horse in this race.

Heros is from Maryland right? It's a long way from home and they still have to play the games on the fields.

Close, they will be at Hofstra. Heros probably came up to get some good Italian food and get their fill of Hoagies. They probably have visits scheduled for some of the schools on the island, take in the sights and probably play a little lacrosse. Returning the favor since folks on the island drop a lot of cash when they head down to Maryland for all those tournaments in June.

I wonder if it's any better than driving down to Maryland to play another Long Island team. Why don't more Maryland teams come up to Long Island? Why does it always seem like it's Long Island heading down to Maryland?

Why should they come up if we keep going down? I wouldn't. Won't change until we stop going to them.

I guess they are not used to it. I kind of enjoy it not having to pay a toll every 5 miles or so in Maryland. Like at National Draw, Lax For The Cure or G8. How much in tolls did it cost to go to Marlton, NJ or New Egypt? And let's not forget about those families that ended up staying in Pennsylvania for a tournament in New Jersey.

MD has many more top tier clubs than LI, they don't need to travel to LI to find good competition. On the flip, if say YJ stayed on LI, what do they get out of it? Not much. As much as LI'ers would like to think they dominate the lacrosse world, reality is that MD has the upper hand in terms of number of quality clubs and venues.

MD also has some sort of spring club league where M&D, Skywalkers, TLC, Heros and others are playing against each other starting in March. This club league is apparently for the club teams up unti 8th grade. It looks to be a big advantage if the club teams are together and practicing through the winter and early spring. By the looks of it, the club teams are killing off the town teams in MD and the girls are getting the club coaching and development through most of the year.

Long Island needs something like that! Six of the teams that were at the G8 tournament in the 2019 division played in that league. That is a definite advantage to be playing that kind of competition on a weekly basis. When the summer tournaments come around those teams have already been together and had at least 10 games together. No wonder they don't like coming up the turnpike to play - they don't need to.

Killing PAL does not make us better. It helps the haves and kills the have nots. Is our goal to offer Lax to young girls to play a sport, learn team work, life lessons, etc pre 8th grade. or is it to have a club play together year round so they can better compete with Md in an elite club setting? I see PAL and SCGL getting a bad rap. It is what it is. Town teams.

"If we can cull the sport of the girls that can't catch and throw in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grade we could be a lot better when we compete with MD during the summer. That would be great." hmmmm.

That is a very short sighted view. There is still rec lacrosse in MD. Most girls still play for their local rec council up until 6th grade or so. At that point, the better girls move to club and all girls can also play for their school. While I agree that the clubs have hurt the middle school rec leagues, it's not like all the kids don't have a place to play.

Can we all agree that recruiting of soon to be 9th graders whether in md or LI is ridiculous? Wouldn't it be nice to let the kids be kids for an extra year or two? I hope they change the rules for future kids.

The club programs in MD have decimated the MYLA (rec) programs on the boys side and are in the process of decimating the girls side as well. It is sad to see. In many cases, the club experience is not materially better than rec while being far more expensive.

What are you talking about? Which rankings are you looking at? Is this for high school girls? I looked at the final - in the top 20 there are 9 MD teams. In the top 5 there are 3 MD teams.

Relax, nobody said that the Long Island girls' were terrible. It was just comparison's between the clubs on Long Island and Maryland. If anything - the people running the clubs on Long Island are terrible. Can we at least get a partial agreement on that? Hands?

I agree that there are drawbacks. For the better players it makes sense. She is coached by a Varsity head coach 10 months of the year as opposed to someone's mom or dad that volunteers for the rec council. The issue is, there are so many clubs now that are money grabs and don't give you what you are paying for. Most of these teams don't play in the NPYGLL. IMO paying 1500 for 9 tournaments, the spring league, and practices all year is not a bad deal. Maybe I'm crazy. It's up to the parents to know what they are signing your daughter up for.

Not any of the good ones. M&D, TLC, Skywalkers, Heros, MD United only have two. And M&D only has two teams from 2020 and older.

How do those 'B' teams from Maryland do, in general? I saw the Skywalkers and Heros white teams (second) at G8 and they looked really good. The others? Do these second teams in Maryland really have cuts? Do the players who are cut go back to their PAL or MYLA programs? To me it makes sense - it's like high school with the JV and Varsity. But, I'm wondering if there is a need for a freshman team....

Hero's 2019 white won the spring B division undefeated and went 36-4-1 this year. Only lost to Hero's green and M and D black twice.

If you think you take away the travel kids from the town teams and those teams will still survive without them I think you are wrong.

For the most part the travel fathers are the ones that coach the team.

If you take the travel girls out of the town team mix PAL and SCGL will be destroyed. I for one do not think that is what youth sports are about but I might be in a minority. There is a time and place for everything. Spring is for Town teams and Summer is for Travel. If that puts us at a disadvantage against the MD travel programs during the summer so be it, our high school teams will be better for it in the long run. Many of the MD travel girls play for private schools in high school so there is less concern for the public school program and their town as far as lax goes. I think we have great public schools on long island and great lacrosse traditions in our public schools. Many of the youth programs are very important to the HS programs. I for one think keeping that tradition and connection are important.

There is no where in the USA that has the level of public school lacrosse like we have on L.I. MD's top teams are in a different system. Their system works for them, IMO it would not make us better on LI.

The B teams do well against other B teams. It's like the A teams. The better clubs B teams can usually beat the lower tier A teams and play tough games against the other top B teams. Typically, there aren't cuts from the second teams. In fact, it is usually a chore finding enough girls to fill out the second teams. Once they are offered a spot on a B team, they usually try to find a spot on another A team.

Some of the clubs in Md choose to have only one team per graduation year, even if they have plenty of players tryout. Having only one team per age group cuts down on the drama between the teams (a la YJ) and improves the experience for the players and parents. No sniping about who should be moved up, moved down, etc. Also, having only team per grad year means that the team will usually be very competitive. It also allows the coaches to devote quality time and attention to the girls. My daughter played for one such team here in Md and just finished her 7 year career with them this past weekend. Now on to the CAA. Trust me, there are teams that actually care about their players first and the money is somewhere down the list.

In md, it is known that hs teams are only practice for the club season. Club is where you get seen. Hs runs the same schedule as college so not many eyes at games. Md b teams are not just money grabs for the most part. There are a few that use their names for parents to say they are part of something great but the play on the field says otherwise. There is a clear distinction between ALL "a" and "b" teams but that does not mean that there can't be a player here or there moved up or down.

If I'm not mistaken the Heros B team either beat or tied YJ at G8.

For the most part none of those HS list are worth the paper that they are written on. Do you really believe that ESPN, US lax or Newsday or any other entity is actually running around scouting all these schools and individual players to form these lists? It's a handful of people whispersing into someones ear about this kid or that kid and the teams are what their record says they are unless you look at who they play

Both teams are the "B" of their clubs respectively.

They are a team from Maryland. From what I hear, they are pretty good.

They looked pretty good against Title 9. It was a pretty solid win for them. Actually, it was more like a back alley beat down.

Why did they even bother going to that tournament?

At least they did not up the turnpike to play another Maryland team. As opposed to driving down the turnpike to play another LI team.

I watched them play and it was not pretty. My daughter's team got dismantled by Hero's. In watching teams play this summer, M & D is clearly the best with Hero's and Skywalkers being a close second. These teams clearly separated themselves from the rest of the pack.

And the girls from Maryland are older within each grade just like on the boys side.

Its the only age group with no LI team in the top 3 possibly the top 5, wonder why that is?
