can someone explain how the conferences translate in "A's"-"B's" and "C's" for playoffs and why don't they just have "A's"-"B's" and "C's" conferences
thank you Boys (and girls) lacrosse is considered by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) to be a three class sport, Class A, Class B and Class C. Each class is driven by the number of students at the High School level. Class A is for high schools with 1050 students and up. Class B is for high schools with at least 650 but not more than 1049 students. Finally, Class C is for high schools with less than 650 students. (Notice that the girls breakpoint for Class B and Class C is 675 students.) The Conferences are built to define "who plays who" during the regular seasons. Nassau and Suffolk have differed year-on-year in how the Conferences are created. Sometimes they have been created reflecting competitive ability; other seasons, Conferences have been created along Class lines. The State Championships are always run along Class lines, not Conference lines. [To help even further and illustrate how the Class structure varies by sport], boys soccer is a five class sport with Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class C, and Class D. The full table will be provided in our next post.]

Corrigan Sports Enterprises announced today the seventh annual Under Armour® All-America Lacrosse Classic will take place on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. Each year only 88 of the nation’s top boys and girls high school seniors earn the sport’s most prestigious honor. Last year the boys’ South team emerged victorious for the second time in the event’s history by downing the North squad, 11-9. The girls’ North team won 15-10 by outscoring the South 8-3 in the second half. A full weekend of events will be highlighted by the All-America boys senior showcase live on ESPNU Saturday evening at 8pm. The girls will face off at 5pm. The weekend will once again include a ten-region underclassmen event with boys and girls All-Star teams from Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, South, Upstate NY and Washington, D.C. and West. The three-day underclassmen tournament (June 29th – July 1st) will feature the top national lacrosse players from the graduating classes of 2013, 2014 and 2015. Underclassmen tryout dates for each region will be announced next month. For more information, visit www.underarmourlacrosse.com. Nominations can also be submitted at InsideLacrosse.com/UnderArmour.
