Replaying the Boys 2019 Fall 2012/Spring 2013 latest comments onto the new thread

I love all these posts that insult the parents of the kids on select teams. Other than directly insulting kids, it is one of the most devious cheap shots on here; impossible to counter because when you do the original poster replies "you see, you people are nutty" (or words to that effect). Its like trying to disprove the negative and lets face it, is usually perpetrated by a person whose child did not make one of these teams.
So let me add my two cents to the nutty parent issue:
we have been involved with 3 organizations: - 2 travel, 1 PAL. In only one of those organizations did all of the following occur:
- parents approaching, calling, texting and e-mailing the coach to tell him who should and should not be playing, and when
- parents yelling insults at children who were not their own from the sideline
- parents openly insulting other children, for example "this kid cant even catch, why is he in?"
- arguments between parents of the same team on the sideline
- parents who did not pay their way
- other general "brown nosing" to get in good graces with the program (I will leave it there)
- parents coaching from the sideline in direct conflict with what the coach is trying to achieve (e.g. Johnny, take it yourself, go to the cage")

Yes, that was in the PAL program if you havent already figured it out. Ours is considered one of the top programs on the island so if it happens in ours, it happens in yours too.

On a more positive note, we found the parents on both travel teams very pleasant and not "nutty" at all. As a matter of fact, parents from travel teams can leave all of the "town associated drama" and pre-conceived nonsense behind. No issues bleeding over from other sports, school, friends, etc. No resentment or jealousy towards other kids because they wont be competing against each other for a position at school. People actually rooted for other peoples' kids - and did it with sincerity!

Replaying the conversation from the Boys 2019 Fall 2012/Spring 2013 thread

You are correct. I am sure one or more of these things happened with our travel teams, I just didn't see it. I can tell you for a fact though, that all of these things happened in our PAL organization, and on the same team, no less. I think the travel parents - bashing thing is a bit contrived and played out at this point. Furthermore, it smacks with jealousy and resentment, and like almost all generalizations, is utter nonsense. It has been my experience thus far that the travel team parents seemed more reasonable and less under-handed than those at PAL. I wont say what program it is, but I should correct my earlier characterization to say "we used to be" one of the top youth programs on the island.

It just exists more in PAL and much less on the AA's but still exists inbetween.

The Dukes final score was 6-3. I thought all 3 teams were EXCELLENT - It would be great to see travel teams play in the Spring County League against each other. We travel all over the east coast looking to play the best teams and we really don't have to look far at all. According to everything I've read, 91, Express and Dune Dogs are the best three 2019 teams on LI. There are other programs that are probably a notch or two below that I'm sure would love to participate in events like yesterday. All the directors should continue to set up little round robin days like that. The games were intense and every child benefitted from that.

Okay a few teams have had a few games practices scrimmages under their belts and some have even played against the others. Presuming the below list is the list representing the LI AA/A teams for 2019 (alphabetically).
  • What's your take on the grade?
  • Are the Schedules posted for these teams so we will know who will potentially play whom?
  • Can we at least say we will all go to Lax fest. By then all of our boys should be hitting their stride.

2019 list As of Fall 2013

91 O
DD
Express wolves
fl$
Greys
Jesters
Legacy
Outlaws
Revolution
Team LI
True Blue

91 has now played a few of the teams, you may be the best gauge on the grade, what is your take on how 2019 will represent?

91 Orange has played 12 games this Fall including the Express, Outlaws, Dukes and Legacy (2x). Most of the other teams were decent, not great, but not exactly pushovers either. We did not always play great, but we managed to win them all. The most competitive were Express and Dukes but Legacy is very solid and will be a team to contend with next Spring. I dont think the results really should translate to being on the top of some meaningless list which is only written to stir the pot, but we learned where we need work, and we also learned that the competition gets better every year as you get older. BTW, i know this is like throwing a lit match on gasoline, but 91 Crush belongs at or near the top of any list that involves LI 2019 or 2020. I know that can be a bitter one to swallow but like it or not, they can beat most of the teams on that 2019 list on any given day - some easilly, even maybe the DD assuming cloning people becomes ethically acceptable!

Thanks for the response. This is what I was looking to see/read.

My son doesn't need to be the best player, he doesn't need to play on the best team. But I would like him to always play the best he can against the best available.

Go 2019, with friends on 6 or more of the teams listed, I wish you all well. Looking forward to June when the boys are really hitting their strides and the coaches worked out all those correctables.

No, not a town team. I saw some Smithtown helmets, kings park, and I think Huntington.

All Greys only play in A tourneys for 2019. Could be a B, Could be an A depending on how you rate the other teams. Havent beaten the top 3, but split with true blue and outlaws black last year, beat white. tied team LI. the entire core came back and have improved at every position. Time will tell.

I think they try to avoid 91-run events, as an organization, for various reasons. My son's on a different HDD team, and I'm glad we try not to support anything that's affiliated w/Team 91

Greys' goalie is the same as last year, please try to have your information correct before posting about a 12 year old boy. They are a solid non-profit team, A or B who cares! It is about the kids getting better and having fun.

I believe it was a fundraiser for the NYIT Lacrosse Team. Saw Express, 91, and some town teams, and only spanned 4 age brackets (2021/22, 2020, 2019, 2018).

They played house of sports, Team SUperstar 2019 and NH Tomahawks Purple. Both of those teams are listed as A/AA with there organizations. Purple won the A division at the Harvard Fall tournament a few weeks earlier. They beat HOS 7-1, Superstar 7-3 and Tomahawks 7-1. They then played Black Dog which was a 2018 team that was somehow placed in the 2019 bracket. They lost 6-4. I'm not saying you said it, but they have beaten A level teams before and somehow are still looked down upon because they are the second team in the organization. Are they as good as Orange, no, are they as good as Crush maybe not but they will give them a competitive game. They beat fl$ last year, NJ Patriot, Smithtown A, The Terps 2020 and beat PowerCrush once which is really the All Greys. They also beat Riptide multiple times which is now Legacy and somehow those teams are on someone's imaginary list. The Jester's played almost all B tournaments last year and had a hard time winning and again, they are on the list. 91 White isn't because they are the org's second team and people won't accpet a 2nd or even a third team being competitive within the same organization.

I think that you had a pretty clear argument for White as an A team. One mistake that you made is that Powercrush is NOT really the All Greys. Some boys have played both, but DDs, Outlaws and 91 boys have played on Powercrush. Team is different every time they go on the field. Just for pick up and just for fun. Also, a little surprised you would use an indoor game to advance your cause. They dont count.

Wow why so hard on the Jesters they know who they are and where they belong. Sounds like someone doesn't like being the afterthought (not the second team which is Crush maybe not even the 3rd team which is Stampede).

I thought we long Islander's held ourselves to a higher standard when it comes to lacrosse. You should know until you play LI A teams consistently your not considered an A team on LI. You are a good team yes, but just because you play an organizations best team and they call themselves A doesn't mean you are an A team. HOS Superstars are good teams but not on Par to an A level LI team. Maybe an A team Westchester team.

Go play V's 2019 TLI team and tell us how you make out. Isnt the Stampede playing them?

"...Are you as good as Crush... maybe not... will give them a competitive game..." Wow I gotta scroll down to see that again. You really wrote that. Go ahead play them and tell us how that worked out for you. You say you beat Patriots, Smithtown A and beat RIPtide multiple times last year. You guys know how those all worked out for you. But this is a new year, do you really think you would beat Patriots again. I don't think Legacy is last years RIPtide team and Terps 2020 is a strong team.

BTW - Didn't you see the bracket you were in prior to the tournament. Didn't you see that your championship or playoff game would be against 1 of 4 2019/2018 teams. Why whine after the tournament.

Now I like your team, and your attitude. You're a good team, but please take a harder look in the mirror. Are you really the team you think you are?

I agree with 91 whites case. They are treated like the red headed step child in that organization. But when u have crush and orange ahead of u it's hard to establish yourselves. We played them a couple of times and they are a legit A team but 91 directors consistently put them in B brackets and they destroy teams. Not making the kids better. Hopefully u guys play in different tournaments next year so u can prove yourselves. Good luck!

Trying to understand top Long Island Teams/Ages/Names. My son plays for nationally known WashDC based travel club, Madlax at U13. In past we have run into unbelievably skilled teams from Long Island, Dune Dogs and Express and others. I love the competition, but I can't keep them straight from year to year. Our teams are consistently named, so when you play a Madlax Orange you have the top team for the club in that age group. At youth our teams are USLacrosse U9-U15. HS by class year.
From what I read here Team 91 does 4 teams, 2 that are AA teams. Are all 4 team 2019's, by class? Would these teams be age qualified for u13 by USLacrosse? What are team names from top to bottom?
Long Island Express does 3 teams. All 2019s? USLacrosse U13s? Names top to bottom?
I have not seen Team Long Island or Superstar 365 in Mid Atlantic tourneys.
Summer of 2012 we got beaten badly (12-2? In our own tournament-ouch!) by a team named the Dune Dogs. I see passing reference to them but they don’t appear to be from Express or Team 91. Who are they? Same ?? about age qualifications
Mostly curious and would like to play all y'all again!

LI pretty much goes by grade. Except maybe team LI for 2019. But i believe all 2019 are u13.

91
Orange.
White
Stampede
( with the caveat that Crush is a 2020 team. With some holdbacks that should be 2019 but this is a 2019 thread and they often play 2019 - is probably as good if not better than Orange - they claim the hold backs will be u13 eligible another year just late birthdays)

Express
Wolverines (used to be orange)
Terps (used to be blue)

Team LI goes by "U" designation.
Red
White

Dune Dawgs
Has some crush kids on top team. Other age groups of dune dawgs (actually calls themselves havoc dune dawgs) are not as strong as this one group/team of boys.

A few other teams are quality teams. Outlaws fl$ and a new organization Legacy. There are a few tournaments this weekend and thanksgiving weekend which may add some more color to the top teams. True blue (blue) used to be a top 2019 team but has fallen off a bit, top playr moved to DD. curious to see if they can rebuild.

But as far as second teams only 91s second teams are quality teams maybe maybe not A but very strong B.

This is correct. All Class of 2019 players are U/13 eligible however not all U/13 eligible players are graduating in the Class of 2019. The current age group conversion table appears below.

yes, this does get confusing even for people on LI because instead of using letter designations and potentially hurting someones's feelings, we now use colors, mammals and/or reptiles to designate the teams. As far as the age grouping is concerned, you dont have to worry if your child plays on a MD team. You are pretty much 6 mos. to one year older than the LI kids you are playing every time you step on the field unless you play up a bracket. Not whining, just a fact. For example, last year we played two MD tourneys, U13 category was - "born after September 1, 1999". The majority of the boys on my son's 2019 team were born in 2001 (a couple in 2002). So you dont have to be a math genius to know you are playing older kids (as if the 6" height difference doesnt tell you enough). Also, im afraid you guys down there may be taking a page out of our book - who the heck is Mad Rock? were they the Rock, Mad Lax, or some combination of both?

meant to say Quality A (not just quality) team.

Id be happy to tell VLD which organizations second team plays at an A level. Can you tell me which second team from the organizations listed are "A" team competition. I also didn't list the other organizations top teams that were B. I gave him in what my opinion was a fair look on the LI landscape. of course things will change in the next few months, for right now I call it like I see it.

Or maybe since he lost 12-2 to DD which had the Crush kids (just look at the pictures) maybe your second team is just what they want. VLD you decide. That is what is great about this blog. One person says something it gets critiqued, but am I really off base.

As far as Second teams you are right. This is based loosely on LY and what I know from the limited games and practices as well as from the friends of my sons on these teams TY. I am sure this will get updated between now and May.

Express - not sure how they will be your right. But history has dictated the better 2019 players run as far away from that second team. It is a shame they could have what 91 has in white a solid top B am looking to break in as an A (with a 2020 team pushing them to stay on top of their game)

Dune Dawgs - Had a good second team not sure what has happened to them.

Team LI - Has a solid second team, but their tryouts are so early you never know. (could have been a miss but this organization is such a mystery when you see them play)

Outlaws silver /True Blue white /Legacy Renagades they all have second teams that will play against each other and play some good fun lacrosse. These second teams will also play against some of the other organizations and clubs (Jesters/Tomahawks/Million/Rampage/Vipers/365) top teams and will do well against them. This is the group that a boy or 2 will come out of and surprise everyone as a stand out after the hormones start kicking in at those different rates for 12/13 year olds.

Sage, Do they really have U teams and events with the even year - U8, U10, U12, U14, U16.

But a bigger questions for 2019 is what team has a player only eligible for "u15" on their 2019 team and therefore plays "Grade" only.

Are there any boys with a birth year prior to Aug 2000 on a grade based 2019 team. Boys who have been 13 for more than 2+ months.

(not looking for player names but LI teams that promote this).

Last year Rock and Madlax were going to merge and then the infamous e-mail from Madlax came out and Rock pulled out. So the Rock is back being the Rock with no affiliation with Madlax.
The 2019 team from last year stayed the same pretty much. Couple left the team and a couple joined.

My son plays 2019, is in 7th grade but birthday 11/30/2000. I held him for sure, but honestly never thought about lacrosse or any sport for that matter, he just wasn't ready. Who thinks about travel lacrosse when a kid is 4 and going to kindergarten?????

The organization is Havoc Dune Dawgs or HDD. The HDD 2019 Taylor team played at MadLax Capital classic 2 years in a row and were the champions of their brackets both times.

The organization has teams from grad years 2024 - Varsity. There was a merger between Havoc Lacrosse and Dune Dawgs Lacrosse and now they are Havoc Dune Dawgs.

Who really cares about the DD, HDD or any other initials you want to call them. Besides from one team 2019 I think they added another A to it this year 2019AAA team they are not very competitive

Spring Lax jam in May is a great starter for LI and then LI Lax Fest is always a good tournament when you should be peaking in June.

The 2019 team from last year stayed the same pretty much. Couple left the team and a couple joined.

This is a very active and impressive forum--very happy to have stumbled on to it. Thank you for the volume of thoughtful and respectful responses. There are many issues raised and I look forward to addressing them in future posts.
Kudos to CageSage standing up Mid-Atlantic section. Hopefully soon it will be as entertaining as its Northeast sibling. I have registered and eagerly await confirmation to begin my replies--VaLaxDad

From what I read here Team 91 does 4 teams, 2 that are AA teams. Are all 4 team 2019's, by class? Would these teams be age qualified for u13 by USLacrosse? What are team names from top to bottom?

I have not seen Team Long Island or Superstar 365 in Mid Atlantic tourneys.
Summer of 2012 we got beaten badly (12-2? In our own tournament-ouch!) by a team named the Dune Dogs. I see passing reference to them but they don’t appear to be from Express or Team 91. Who are they? Same ?? about age qualifications

Virginia Lax Dad - Keep in mind what this guy's talking about is all based on last summer, of course.

"ONLY" 91's second teams are quality teams? The teams were JUST created weeks ago, and you're already making these declarations? What team does your son play for, by the way?

meant to say Quality A (not just quality) team.

Stay tuned on Dune Dawgs 2nd team this summer. They picked up some solid kids, and a new coach, and should be very competitive in the B brackets.

That is great to hear (H)DD will again have a another solid team for the 2019 mix. Have you guys started practicing or playing. Will you be playing in the next few weeks. Good Luck

Agreed, down the rabbit hole we go! Someone always has to come on and insult a group of kids playing a game. We should start doing what the native americans did - play to the death. Only it should be the parents playing and not the kids. When are some of these people going to understand that once these kids start playing at the high school level, this stuff doesnt matter (not it really matters now in the grand scheme of things)?

CageSage-
Thanks again for moderating. Great board!
Interested to take up youth team age issues raised by posters. Age, not class year, is the relevant measure of physical advantage, in my opinion. I draw a distinction between youth teams and high school (HS) teams. 2017, or freshman, is our youngest HS team in Virginia. Our youth teams are set according to USLacrosse age guidelines:
U13: Born on or after 9/1/00
See bottom of Page 1: http://www.uslacrosse.org/portals/1/documents/pdf/participants/players/2014-boys-youth-rules.pdf
We do not set youth teams by class year, although an u13 AA team is likely all 7th graders (2019), and maybe young 8th graders, with a couple of talented 6th graders possibly sprinkled in. 2yrs per age group; U9, U11, U13, U15. I had never heard of U12 or U14 before finding this board.
A comparison of ages of U13 or 2019 youth teams drawn from CageSage’s response to my previous post:
LI: In WashDC:
12/1/99 or older are U15 or HS
12/01/99 - 08/31/00 ... Class of 2018 ... 8th Grade .... U/14; U15 in WashDC
09/01/00 - 11/30/00 ... Class of 2018 ... 8th Grade .... U/13; U13 in WashDC

12/01/00 - 08/31/01 ... Class of 2019 ... 7th Grade .... U/13; U13 in WashDC
09/01/01 - 11/30/01 ... Class of 2019 ... 7th Grade .... U/12; U13 in WashDC

12/01/01 - 08/31/02 ... Class of 2020 ... 6th Grade .... U/12; U13 in WashDC
8/31/02 or younger is U11 (or U9) in Washington.
The ages are very close, but on Long Island our U13AA Orange team would lose its oldest members; those born in September, October and November of 2000. There is no doubt that losing these oldest players would significantly weaken our team. These kids are mostly 7th graders here as our school ages run 10/1 to 9/30 according to state established guidelines. At the youth level, there is nothing sinister going on here, just kids that are in school together playing sports together. It seems odd that there is a 3 month discrepancy per class VA to LI. I am not sure why in practice we differ, except that perhaps our kids start 1st grade earlier.
There may be exceptions, but in my experience, within the NPYLL the USLacrosse age guidelines are followed. This is true for all NPYLL teams, even those in Baltimore area—Crabs, Breakers, Hawks, etc. Enforcement is an open question, but it is hard to believe that paid coaches at for-profit clubs would turn a blind eye to discrepancies. Older (and younger) kids routinely play out of class (and age group) because of birthdates that fall outside the guidelines.
As it is at the youth level, DC and NPYLL teams hold a narrow age advantage over LI teams since we are up to 3 months older. With reclassings (B.S. in my book), HS may be a completely different story, particularly at the privates.
Unfortunately, this reasoning also does not explain Jr’s team getting smoked by the Dune Dogs ;-)

Great explanation, thanks. LI appears more organized than I thought from reading this forum. Do these travel teams routinely play each other? Do you have a travel League similar to NPYLL (www.npyll.com)? Do the top LI travel teams play in a single tournament during the summer? Summer 2012, we saw Express Orange at Tristate (lost 6-5 IIRC-great game), but, sadly, we have stopped playing in that tournament. I have a million questions, but come back to it would be fun to get our best and your best together, and maybe throw Philly’s best in the mix!
See my previous post about age discrepancies. Madlax is usually 2 teams per age group, so our U13s have 2 teams AA and A, named Orange and Blue respectively. Occasionally, if there's interest, Madlax stands up a lower level A team named White. All team names are consistent throughout Madlax, but our age groups span 2yrs, so U13s would be comprised of 6th and 7th graders.
I am still a little confused as to how LI does it. Are you saying that Team 91 might have 7-8 teams between its U13 and U12 or 2019 and 2020 age groups?

Got it. We may have identified another difference. We try out in late August or early September and play a 8 game fall league schedule. 1 game, 1 practice per week, followed by playoffs. We also played 3 tourneys in November, 20 games or so total. It looks like you start later, no fall league, and maybe a couple of playdays and tourneys--10 games or so?.

I hope the age group differences are adequately covered by my previous post. Funny thing, before analyzing CageSage's post, I thought the Dune Dogs had an age advantage that would explain Jr's team getting crushed. My pride may have only been exceeded by my ignorance!

Poster is correct about Madlax Rock merger being on, and then being off. Too bad. Madlax stood up a "National Team" by class year for summer tourneys and the Rock contributed some nice players which appeared to be a win for each.

Great team, very skilled and fun to watch. However inconvenient, I think we have also debunked the myth circulating on our sidelines that you had older kids. Good luck in future and hope to see you again.

If this was directed to me, no, not that I know. I wish we were and will lobby based on responses here. I am a consumer, not in a position to decide where we go. Frankly, I would like to hear that best LI teams are participating in a mutually (in)convenient tourney in NJ or PA that would be well run. Tristate is good, but we have dropped. We play Hogan's Hershey, which is fun for the family but weak competition. Reffing iffy too. Personally, I believe you can only be the best by playing the best. Let me know of ideas

We do not have a league similar to NPYLL. I for one have been a proponent of having a NPYLL "North" where we could play our league here, NPYLL Central-PA/NJ, and then the teams come together towards the end of the spring to play a championship. The one drawback here is that the owners of the organizations will not do it because there is no money to be made, since the NPYLL is a non-profit.... The NPYLL website clearly states that they would like to expand to other hotbed areas. Maybe we could get the conversation going here on LI.

Thanks for the reply, LaxDad14. Not sure of issues preventing LI from having its own league similar to NPYLL, but lots of smart people up there to figure it out. I can assure LI for-profit club owners that league organization or non-profit status has not prevented Crabs, Madlax or other clubs from draining wallets! Think of Championship weekend where all 3 areas -- LI, Philly, DC/Balt -- get together. Lots of profit potential!

Philly Fever and NXT have some good tournaments. How is the madlax box tournament over MLK weekend?

The 2019 team from last year stayed the same pretty much. Couple left the team and a couple joined.

LaxDad14 -i don't know much about this MLK day box tourney. I think it's the first year. Website is our mutual friend. Sorry.

Went to Fever tourney last Fall. Competition at youth was unimpressive. On the plus, had fun in Philly! Unfamiliar with NXT youth tourney, please elaborate. Overall, I could be completely offbase, and i know Philly is a hotbed, but it is even more confusing, and seemingly less organized, at youth level than LI.

Laxdad14 how's dune dawgs looking this year. Any new additions like last year? Is Bolla playing in Heckshire's town day?

New additions, yes. Actually looking stronger than last year. Bolla isn't playing, but a mixed 7/8th grade team.

No... we were talking the town day for heckshire fall brawl. The 7/8 team we were speaking of was Riverhead (7th grade team from riverhead and surrounding areas calls themselves bolla). Laxdad14 and I have had some great conversations over the past year+ about 2019. Laxdad14 is spot on many times.

almost every crazed lax parent with an axe to grind and looking for the next Duke JHU Harvard offer for their prescious.

they'll also have their kid repeat a year (transfer to another school) in grade school and then their kid will be another year older than everyone when they enter HS as freshman.(just look at the recent 2017 commits).

lastly, they'll do a year of PG and be 21 yrs old by fresman year in college. red shirt another year and they'll be an AARP member at graduation.

it is a great system and MD (as well as some LIers) have mastered it

take a look at the rosters of theses clubs (especially MD) and you'll see.

-VaLaxDad

VALaxDad

The team you are referring to is the HDD 2019 Taylor team. (HDD = Havoc Dune Dawgs)
This is a team of 2019 & 2020 players. some of the best talent I have seen play together. They are coached by Mike Taylor, Dowling Men's Lacrosse Assistant Head Coach. Mike is an awesome coach and has worked hard with a hard working group of players.
The dedication of the individuals has come together to make a team that dominates in their age bracket (2019 or U13)
Getting "smoked" is a tough pill to swallow especially when it is at the hands of a younger group of kids. Please don't misunderstand, I am not bragging, just want you to have a clear picture of what you are up against.
If you click around the threads this team has a lot of negative comments made about it, in the end I think it is just sour grapes.
We look forward to seeing you out of the fields this summer!

They are not a one team group.

At private HS in MD and elsewhere, you will find overage kids. I have not seen it at youth, and we routinely play teams feeding the MD MIAA A (HS privates) teams.

Fun to complain about, hide behind, but what's the solution? I agree with a poster in another thread--USLacrosse could stop it by simply refusing to insure tournaments/teams/players that do not follow its age guidelines. Make organizers, coaches and players all sign affidavits certifying ages. Easy implementation at youth, harder at HS level.

Sadly, it will likely take serious injuries, and follow on lawsuits, to cause real change. Likely too late for 2019 son...

Yes, they were great when we played them 2 yrs ago. If they are still together, and it appears that they are for the most part, I'm sure they are still awesome. Does this HDD 2019 team regularly play the top Express, Team 91 and other LI teams? How do they fare? Close games?

The issue of the top 3 teams of 2019 age group on LI is they barely play against each other.

There was a rift between Express and 91 two years ago, they only played once. Last year Expressed play 91 twice.

Express and DD never played against each other. I hope that changes this year.

91 and DD played once or twice if that. Some say a few of the 91 2020 play on DD so they don't play the same weekends.

Have you played fl$ (LI) or Patriots (NJ).

We did not play 91 last year. Played them two years ago twice or three times. Can't remember. Played Express three times last year. Did not play 91. We do not beat our chests about winning. We just defend ourselves to all the bulls*&t that is said. Trying not to go down the negative path. Believe me, we can go their!!! Best of luck to your son and his team. Your 60% quote is assinine. Hope your son doesn't have your same attitude. Keep doing whatever you do, and we will do what we do. You and I both know our kids are developing at a much higher level.

I said it before, the two crush boys were at Express tryouts two years ago, and the director made a comment that didn't go over well; hence, them going over to crush. No need to say more!

So, as I am gathering here, the top 2019 teams on LI are, in no particular order, Havoc Dune Dogs, Team 91 Orange and LI Express Wolverine?

Is there 1 well run tourney that all all 3 will play?

Express 2019 is more of a B bracket team, they don't come close to 2019 91 orange and 2019 Dune Dawgs! They lost a lot of players this year. Didn't win any real tournaments last year!

Express 2019 is an excellent team and will do a ton of winning this year. I am not an Express parent but did see them play last Sunday against 91 and PA Dukes. They are absolutely an "A" team and in my opinion can beat anyone on any given day.

Express lost to 91 last week by 2 goals and were tied at the 1/2. It was a very competetive game. I don't know what you're talking about calling them a B team - just trying to stir the pot and be abnoxious!

No one is trying to stir the pot. The Express team lost their best player to 91 and and another talented midfielder to the Dune Dawgs. Their big lefty from Ct is hit or miss when he shows up and this is all on a team that did not win a tournament last summer and the players celebrated their incompetence on social network. A lot of questions there not remedied by beating B level teams in weak Fall tournaments. Just stating facts Sometimes perception is not reality.

Ok..so if 91 only beat them by only 2 goals after losing all these players, than you are telling us that 91 is a B/B plus level team as well. Typical 91parent.......

91 only won by two goals and were missing about 4 of the top players. So having said that yes express is a B level team. Those 4 kids would have accounted for at least 5 more goal then it would be a 7 goal beat down. So keep telling yourself 91 only beat us by two goals and that the express is an A team. Hey you have to justify why you spend all that money somehow. Can't wait until we see you in a real tournament and the 91 and DD "B" teams beat you. Keep practicing.

I heard that 91 was also missing Bigfoot, a Unicorn and a Leprechaun. Those guys are good for at least 10 goals each, so wasn't the REAL beat down more like 37!

Doesn't sound like express was missing anyone. That is there A team if you can believe it. If you think what happened to this express team over the last few years it is amazing. They went from being the number one in the area to now being called a B team. WOW

I truly don't know what's sadder. That a grown adult keeps record of a team that his son does not play for or that he follows 12 year old boys on Instagram. Just stating the facts.

Phil personally spoke to Mike C. Mike knew that HDD could not be there and that HDD players were committed elsewhere. So if someone said HDD would be there, they spoke out of turn.

And for your info genius…Box Lacrosse is on Saturday NOT Sunday. You should come down and see what the training is about. College Coaches are raving about the training bonus of utilizing REAL Canadian Box Lacrosse as an off season training method.

Let's wait until the Summer Travel Season and see who shakes out where. Many of the teams have new players that need to be integrating into playing with their new teams and being coached by someone different.

And let's also remember this is 2019 (U13) Lacrosse, NOT DI Lacrosse people.

Somehow I get the feeling that the offending post was posted by a "former Express parent" and not a 91 parent. Seems to know just a bit too much about the team, heh? I think you should read the post again from a different perspective this time. How would a 91 parent know which player doesn't show up at things or about a posting on social media? I think you are getting your leg pulled by someone who left your program this year and is trying to get it stirred up. All 3 teams are very good and could beat each other on any given day. They are kids for pete's sake and we should stop living through them. Btw, 91 was actually missing 6 players against LIE and 7 against Dukes but I think it is silly to say they would have accounted for all of these "missing goals", especially because 2 of them are long poles, and 1 is a goalie (although the leprechaun has a great shot)! It was just a fall scrimmage people. Besides, it is obvious that beating 91 has become somewhat of an obsession for LIE - they play us at a level higher than they play others and have been practicing like it is the summer tournament season already. They have pride and great players over their too. Good luck this year and remember, its not about you, its about your kid.

Everyone needs to remember ..It's not about the team at all. It's only about doing whats best for your child. No one moves around because they want to be on a winning team. All these kids switch because either they didn't get the playing time or they want to go to an organization that will help them to be on the team in H.S.. In the end the idea of trying to be on the best team is a joke. No one is paying 2K to have their kid sit on the bench. SO don't worry about what team your kid is on we should just be selfish as sad as it sounds and do whats best for your kid not the organization or team

Sure, there are more than a handful of families that are no longer on that 2019 team that have a wealth of knowledge of the 2019 class. Some wish you the best as I do, some may wish you other things.

But I am not sure it has to be an ex-Express parent saying these things. I am an ex-Express parent and have mentioned many of these topics to the families and dads of my sons new teammates. Many of which was already known to them. It was known to them because their friends have boys on other teams who have heard all the same things. So it does not have to be an ex-Express family airing these issues.

One other thing I cant stand is when you (or whomever) post that the only way to be considered an A team is you need to beat everyone. If you beat everyone who is out there left to play? Losing to a top team (within 5 goals) does not make you a lower tier team.

Happy Thanksgiving! and in that spirit, I am thankful my son had the opportunity to have been an Express player. But I am also thankful he has been able to move on and meet more amazing boys and coaches.

Ok..so if 91 only beat them by only 2 goals after losing all these players, than you are telling us that 91 is a B/B plus level team as well. Typical 91parent.......

Likely too late for 2019 son...

lastly, they'll do a year of PG and be 21 yrs old by fresman year in college. red shirt another year and they'll be an AARP member at graduation.

it is a great system and MD (as well as some LIers) have mastered it

take a look at the rosters of theses clubs (especially MD) and you'll see.

I think you are right in saying that insurance is a great way to remedy the concern of over age players.

Also, kicking a team out of a tourney and forfeiting the games with overage players would be a deterrant as well.

Imagine the uproar if a travel team heads out for a weekend, incurs the costs of travel and hotels, etc, and is then forced to go home because one or several players are too old. You can bet that the organization would self regulate better so as to not answer to the parents that were furiouss abour a wasted trip.

simply put, at the youth level, it is not in the spirit of good sportsmanship to play against other players that are not the same age. it is also a blatant disregard of safety. all for an extra advantage either in wins or in looks from coaches...it's shamefull and disingenious.

This NEVER happens in Youth Hockey, which is governed by USA Hockey. This organization goes by birth year and there is no bending the rules. If US Lacrosse followed the same guidelines there wouldnt be an issues.

i think you somehow missed my point. first of all, it has nothing to do with who wishes me well and who doesnt. i dont know who you think you are replying to but you are wrong. Second, I never said anything about goal differential or lower tier teams - i dont post that kind of cr@p about kids. The point of my post was that I believe the original poster was not likely a "typical 91 parent" (whatever that means). The only people who would know about a an attendance issue with a particular kid or something the boys did on social media is probably a parent associated with that team - makes sense no? and how about this, when you have a conversation with someone at a training venue, and then two days or so later you read a post using the same exact terms, phrases and topic issues this person used and said, it would be kind of obvious to you who that poster is. And in this case that person IS NOT a 91 parent and i will leave it right there - just saying. trying to avoid the hate and put out the fire before it spreads. I dont think 91 parent would come on here and insult a team that they barely beat - just doesnt make sense but making sense is not a requirement for posting here.

I don't know who I was posting to, doesn't matter to me it was in general. The topics of boys migrating to other teams (91 & DD) and the CT boy hardly showing up are all well known. It did not have to be a former express parent. That is what I took as your point.

The part about goal differential that is all over every forum Is Not directed at You, it was at whomever. Because I, unlike you ain't smart enough to figure out who is posting. But I am sick of the... If we beat you by "X" amount of goals then you are not an "A" team. In this case it was a 1 or 2 goal game where both teams were missing players.

I don't know what training your talking about, there have been so many, but I dont want to spread the hate either. If someone was spewing venom and hate at a training session then sorry you have the wrong person. Just say'in?
(is putting "just saying" supposed to mean something?)

When do,we learn which teams the MS boys will play. Having gone through this with my older boys, it wasn't worth them playing. Why, competition was not any good nor is the 1/3 2/4 and 5th period split time worth playing.

If my MS changed the teams they played it may be worth it for my youngest. When is this finalized

This information is defined starting on Page 133 of the NYSPHSAA Handbook, 2012-2014 (PDF Format) for New [lacrosse] State. Here are all of the parameters.

Modified (middle school) boys lacrosse requires at least 14 players to field a team with 9 minute standard quarters, 9 minute periods for five period play, or 11 minutes quarters for four quarter extended play.

Ten practices are required before the first scrimmage is permitted. Fifteen practices are required prior to the first regulation game.

Finally to your question : The maximum number of games per team per season is 12.

I've been to the Shamrock Shootout when it was 80 degrees and 28 degrees. If you take some time and coordinate with the parents on your team and bring tents, heaters, fans, generator, etc. you will be fine. Pretend your going camping for a day. Latex gloves under their Lacrosse gloves keep their hands so warm that they are sweating when its cold.
If it was easy all the time it would be boring !! Support your kids or stay home...
I look back at the pictures that I have with the kids playing lacrosse in the snow I just smile :-)

Where are Express and Team 91 playing this summer? Anyone going to Young Guns or World Lacrosse Festival?

Are the other 2019m travel teams coming to Philly/Mid-Atlantic?

I don't get why everyone is acting like the Rising Sons team is made up of a bunch of giants, every single team we play in PA has kids that are the same size. I know there has to be big boys in Long Island too. The question is, what teams do they play for?

Why did Rising Sons play a 2020 team and not a 2019 team to begin with? If 2019 Crabs and Express were there, wouldn't it make sense for them to play those teams?

I would have liked to have seen them play the Top 2019 Express and the top Crabs team. If RS's have not lost yet, they should be playing the big boys, why travel for games beneath them?

FYI they lost a game last year as well also playing up. Talk to me when they play someone their own age remotely close. Saw a bit of the game most of the Sons were close to or over 6 foot it was actually comical. 13 year olds vs 11 year olds will have that disparity. Think they've set the standard in own age. Tell me which 2019 teams play 2018 A.

come on, outlaws black and NYC Express are not in the same class as many good 2019 team (teir below). Crush is a fantastic team that plays the best 2019 teams when they can.

It is okay to lose a game or two. heck I saw extreme lose a game recently and they can back to beat that same team. It is sports it happens.

Always to the extreme. 11 vs 13 most of Crush are 12 and most of of the Sons are 13(some still 12 till summer). As earlier posts suggest...don't play up against the big boys. I'm sure the Sons will play whoever you throw at them. I know they are looking to set something up with Havoc. Will the double dippers not play now because the Sons are too big?

They are, most are 12 and some were 12 this past Fall. You are seeing first hand what a bruised ego looks and sounds like.

The Sons 2020 played [lacrosse]'s too. As long as you turned 12 after 8/1 you were eligible. So that says nothing about the age of the Crush other than they could be 12 since August and have played. They chose to play a top team 2019 with their 12 year old 2020's. If they would have won they would have congratulated the Sons for a fine game of lacrosse. Since they lose its some major shock that they are a year younger. No S***. JS does this because he always has a way out. If he wins its brag city, if he loses.....you were older and bigger.

To play in U11 at nationals the players needed to be u11 as of 8/1/13. So they could have turned 12 on August 2nd and still they would have been considered u11 for that tournament.

I may be slow, but can someone please clarify, what was the score of the Crush vs. 2019 Rising Sons game? Sounds like Rising Sons won 9-6?

Sounds like a rematch is in order. On a turf field with lines not an unlined gravel pit.

DD aren't usually too active this time of year due to the Dowling coaches being a little busy right now.

Funny. As we've always said, have your director call ours. Set something up. DD's never run from a challenge.

Was one team playing on turf and other on gravel?

That doesn't seem fair!

You guys (Sons - 2019) coming back to LI for Proplayer on 5/3. That would be great to see. If not, I am sure there would be a few other teams who would want to play you on 5/4 if you are on LI.

and for al those neigh sayers - of course you Dawgs and sons will play. Why, because those involve with both crush and dawgs like competition and know the only way you get better is by playing the better teams. Kudos to you guys

Are the Dune Dawgsvever going to play a game or scrimmage anytime soon. Inquiring minds want to know. We want to watch the self proclaimed best team on long island from offense to defense. Please let us know.

WHere have you been. Taylor does Box all winter, then he coaches Dowling and the DDs don't really start playing till he is done there. Been that way for years now

You are going to PA on a Sunday for one game? Long drive when you can play someone in your own backyard.

The problem with playing someone in our own backyard is that you double the number of obnoxious Long Island parents on the sidelines.

I think this scrimmaging of teams is a great idea. I think it makes the sidelines less obnoxious and an open atmosphere for both the parents and players to enjoy each others talents.

There is no need to make it adversarial. Lets keep it classy 2019!

That is definitely the plan - keep it classy, as friendly as possible, and help make each other better!

Our parents are only obnoxious when we lose. Crush parents were great, no complaints until they loss to those Menonites, then they went nuts.

Yes, that's what he said - you double the amount if you play here. His team AND the other team. If he travels, just HIS team! That was really funny actually!!

Good, clean, positive fun GUY- take your blood pressure pill. It is great to hear how LI is measuring up to other teams we do not often see or play. There is a world outside LI you know??? Hope the boys all had fun!

You mention good, clean, positive FUN? Scores of scrimmages don't mean anything. You're probably the one who will come on here, and critic, and rank the teams, based on SCRIMMAGES! I don't need a blood pressure pill. I'm relaxed and looking forward to fun, and getting better, not the scores!

whoever said get a life was right!

With all of these scrimmages that were played recently, it is clear that teams are inviting other Elite team players to boost their squads in a scrimmage. Clearly these were not teams that were shorthanded. Is this acceptable or is this cheating?

I hope you are not talking about last night's scrimmages. No one cheated. Is it a crime to play on multiple teams. Especially when you are a fixture on both of those teams. I think it is a great idea to play with a multitude of players/teams/coaches. If you are a 2019 family and follow the players you know who plays on what team.

As a Legacy 2019 parent thank you for the invite and challenge. I hope we see each other again - whether scrimmage or tournament.

You ever think maybe, just maybe, guys changed teams from last year. Stop the negativity. It was a great evening for lacrosse. We should all try to do this a bit more. Nice for the boys to work out the kinks before the summer season begins.
