The purpose of the Oyster Bay Lacrosse League (OBLL) is to unify, promote, and develop lacrosse in Nassau County.

The Oyster Bay Lacrosse League will be registering teams in grades 3 thru 8 for the 2011 spring lacrosse season. Games will be played on both turf and grass fields at Cantiague Park, Allen Park and other fields in the Town of Oyster Bay.
  • Grades 3 thru 6 will play on Saturday
  • Grades 7 & 8 will play on Saturday or Sunday (but not to interfere with their school lacrosse)
  • All teams will play a 10 game schedule, which could include several out of state teams, when possible, and a modified playoff schedule.

If you want to play at a higher level than PAL than this is for you. My sons team has played the last few years and the league has got better and better.. Real rules, better competition.

Are there standings from the last couple of seasons? What age groups are there?

I am glad we have options other than just PAL.Last season my sons town team left Suffolk PAL to play Nassau PAL for more competition. Now Nassau PAL does not want them back because they beat all the teams in blowouts. So our team will be joining the OBLL.

LADIES and gents,
keep in mind that PAL and OBLL provide different venues for the laxplayer. PAL believes in developement of the youth lax player and the OBll believes in competition. both organizations are very good in what they provide. PAL does not believe in blowouts, the OBLL will be a better league for your town team. best of luck in the spring.

WE have played 2 games so far in the "League" and NO schedule yet ?????
Go on the website and it says "coming soon" under schedules tab.
All we know is we have a game tomorrow.
Anybody have info for this league???
Very frustrating to have a league ran this way.
But we parents have nothing better to do than wait for the schedulers to get their act together.

You will not get a schedule. This is the way the league has always been run. The coach hears on Wed, sometimes Thursday and you should hear the latest by Thursday from your coach. Not sure why they posted a schedule would be coming.

Obviously your first go round with this. You will never have a schedule for the entire season.

Every group or team that enters this "league" should explain how it's run to its players and parents. It works well for some, and not so well for others. Travel teams get some spring games to get ready for summer tournaments. They also bring in teams from out of state and upstate, to play the local teams. That's is a cool aspect.
They try to get fields that they don't have to pay for to help their bottom line. So they wait and see what they can get on the town fields in Massapequa after the PAL and high school teams are accommodated each week, and then pay for other fields when necessary. Those factors as well as the increased number of spring tournaments, create the need for it to be run the way it is on a week to week basis. As the year goes on, you may find your team playing the same opponent too many times. That obviously is not a cool aspect.

IMHO it is great pickup league that puts teams together to play some quality lax. I assume the schedule issue is because they are trying to coordinate it on a weekly basis (not an easy task). Teams get invited to come play from neighboring states and that in itself is really cool. I agree the downside is the last second nature of things, but that doesn't outweighs the upside. And you play on turf - an extra treat considering the fields so far because of the winter.

Let me guess your spoiled? No, just commenting on statement that all the fields are turf. They are not. Games were canceled last week because they weren't on turf.

7th grade Express A (dunno terps, wolves who cares) beat the 7th grade Crabs. That Express 7th grade team is as good as any at the age level.

Other games

8th grade Crabs were impressive beating the Terps

Terps beat the Jesters 5-3

Terps beat TLI Red 9-2 or 10-2

You played against grade school children ? That is not very sporting of you. Sunday games were rained out last week at Holbrook. That is all I have to say, you are either an annoying kid or a know it all parent. I suspect the latter.

Okay
Besides knowing that oyster bay league Is a Saturday league with occasional private Sunday play with out of towners , last weekends games were on Saturday with 4/5/6/7/8 th graders at Holbrook . Guess your just a guy who needs to feel special that hes ontop of his lax info , but I guess you have all the answers right or wrong you must have a some sort of power control complex , it poured out Saturday and they played from 9am-4pm
Get your info correct !

Do you have a reading comprehension problem ? Nobody is arguing about Saturday's games. My info is correct. As I stated before, last Sunday's games at Holbrook were canceled due to the poor condition of the field. No doubt the rain and all the games Saturday left the field unplayable. 2018 Legacy, 2019 Express and 2018 Jesters were all canceled. Yes, I am all powerful, knowledgable and mighty. OBLL is not a Saturday league, they play both days. Always have. They try to schedule middle schoolers so they don"t conflict with school team games/ practice. You are either a shyte stirrer or a mental patient. Just look at the schedule posted above to see you do not make sense.

Not sure but Rising Sons 2019 beat Outlaws handidly, beat NYC 2019 and then beat 91 Crush. Those parents from Crush were losing their minds. I saw MC with a huge smile on his face watching Crush get crushed. Does anyone know how the Rising Sons 2020 did vs 2020 Terps?

Say what you want about the league. They aim to put great matchups together. Not about records or schedules, just lax. It takes a lot coordinating to get these teams in from out of state.

The Rising Sons 2019s are legit. They have been together since last summer. They are from the Philadelphia suburbs. They are a 7th grade team. They are 12-13 year olds. All of the kids fit within the U13 US lacrosse designation for birthdates with the exception of maybe 3 kids that have August birthdays (US lacrosse cut-off for U13 is August 31). They have two losses, both of which came at Winter Indoor Nationals. A few of the kids on the team played 91 Crush two years ago in Florida as Freedom players at the Dicks Tourney in the U11 semi.

You just said it they are older than our 2019 kids by alot- August is 6-9 months older. Your school cut off is 4 months older than ours.
Your older period. Do not think it make a different look at pop warner championship stats from the last 25 years the older team almost always won. Most kids near cutoff date= best chance of championship

In PA children need to be 5 on or before 8/31 to enter Kindergarten. It is VERY common for children with summer Birthdays to not start school when they have just turned 5 but to wait until the next year. So they start Kindergarten as they just turned 6. That is if the parents (or schools) feel that they are not mature enough to handle kindergarten at a young 5.

nice math, its 3 month difference on cut off. 9/1-10/1 is one month, 10/1-11/1 is 2 months, 11/1-12/1 is 3 months.

I'm sure the team is good. Really. But I bet if you look at the birthdates of the 2 teams you will see that the PA team is on average 6 months older. That is very significant at this age. I would say that in general if you compare kids of otherwise similar skill and ability, the older team wins the vast majority of times.

If your cutoff is later, then I would suggest sticking to your age division when playing out of state teams. And, I would think that any coach with experience would know that the age cutoffs for PA is different than in NY. I also think that playing an older team (especially at the time when some kids are into puberty and others are not) is just not a good idea. I don't care how good your kids are, someone is going to get hurt.

3 kids out of an 18 player roster (not 10). I cannot speak to the difference between when kids enter grades in different states. Maybe the teams will meet again at tournament where US Lacrosse birthdate rules apply and govern the rosters. If it's the Dicks Tourney of Champions in FL, all of the RSL kids will make the U13 cut-off because the Dicks rules are Aug 1. There's also a big difference in size between kids in 6-8th grades when puberty sets in. 91 has a big right attack that is one of the biggest kids on the 91 squad. He may be maturing ahead of his teammates. I watched the RSL kids play an 8th grade team in PA last month. The 8th grade team made the 2019 RSL team look small. Nearly all of the poles on the 8th grade team were 6'0" tall or taller. It was a battle. Final score was 8-7 RSL. Came down to the last two minutes. Age makes a difference in middle school.

Lol... Caught that too. I guess those were the extra tall kids on the team. Fact is, those 3 can't play in any tournament requiring birth certificates because they won't qualify and should NOT be playing a team a full year younger and kids half their size. Whoever arranged that game should be happy no one was hurt. Nonetheless, it was a competitive game. I'd like to see how RIsing Sons handles teams with kids their size. Too bad the whole team won't qualify for Dicks- it would be nice to see them in the mix.

Your older period. Do not think it make a different look at pop warner championship stats from the last 25 years the older team almost always won. Most kids near cutoff date= best chance of championship

This is the cut off, that clearly does not mean that all the kids on that team have September, October or November birthdays. Also, are you all claiming that in Long Island no one holds their kids back (the ones with late birthdays)? I find it hard to believe that the majority of kids start Kindergarten when they are only 4.

Read the prior posts. All of the RSL kids make the cutoff for Dicks. The birthdate is Aug 1. The team qualified at a Fall tournament. They will make a decision on going this summer. Many of the kids play on 2-3 teams so they are waiting to see if any of the other teams are going (Freedom, etc). 91 is a great team with great players. Everyone knows they are the best in their age group. They need to be careful selecting tournaments/age divisions for the next 3 years while they and the older competition (2019s) are maturing at different rates.

Wasn't at the game but sounds like JS bit off more than he could chew. Wasn't it just a game, why is it getting this much attention. Good teams get beat all the time. Sounds like the Sons have a nice program developing.

My 2019's are a foot taller than my 2020's....and my 2020's are a full foot taller than my 2021's. Why would you not believe that our 2019's wouldn't be a foot taller than a long island 2020??

Feel bad for those Crush Kids that JS puts them in those type of environments. He uses those kids to boost his ego. If he wins hes a genius, best coach, best kids. He loses and blames the other team for being to old when they are of proper age. Can't have it both ways...dude. When you play your team up you run the risk of getting them hurt, physically, mentally and obviously emotionally. Oh and by the way, and I don't agree with this but, US Lacrosse thinks its ok to have those two teams play each other. YEP our governing body thinks a kid that has turned 13 after 9/1 and a kid who turns 12 before 8/31 are in the same division.

It seems from the posts above that based on school start dates, US lax rules and a few hold backs, your starting 10 on your 2019 team are anywhere from 6 months to a year older than the average 2019 LI team. Most likely they are in line with the average 2018 team here. Understand, we parents from LI know this, yet we have our kids play your teams, we welcome the competition. We believe our kids will get better and benefit from challenging themselves while playing up in age against your older teams. My question to you is: What is the benefit to your players when you knowingly play them down against younger, smaller kids? I know they're the same "grade" but we all know the facts. Why do you drive all the way to LI to do that? Would you not want to challenge your kids at least against kids the same age and size? I'm not trying to be provocative, I just don't understand the mindset behind doing that. Do you and the parents on your team sit around and say: "wow, did you see Johnny blow by that kid from LI who was a year younger, that was awesome". Please, I know I sound sarcastic, but I'm really trying to understand what the benefit to your team is?

I think the argument here is not so much the Sons being legit, but how much some players physically changed in a short period of time. It seems they have several versions of the same team. Do you think players don't pick up on that when on the field with a team more than once? Ask me, it defies the laws of science. They grew hair and muscle mass in a matter of weeks. Regardless though, 9-7 made for an exciting game. It did not warrant this much banter. But I guess, if you need to... carry on. CRUSH- competitive, not sore losing. Pride, not arrogance. One Excellent Team who played extremely hard as they always do. They are a quality team that exemplifies the outstanding instruction they have received as well as their love for the game. Now quit insulting the coach. Quit insulting the team.

Doesn't seem like a big deal when they are 5 or 6 in the classroom, but put them on a sports field and a year (or 18 months) makes a HUGE difference. If you have kids on the roster born before 8/31 and they're on the field, you're cheating.

I'm sure the team is good. Really. But I bet if you look at the birthdates of the 2 teams you will see that the PA team is on average 6 months older. That is very significant at this age. I would say that in general if you compare kids of otherwise similar skill and ability, the older team wins the vast majority of times.

Another clear example of the delusional thinking. I overheard 91 parents stating this isn't the same team we played in Loyola. Yeah, who didn't know that? You played the 2020's in Loyola. This was the 2019's with hair, muscles, and pimples. These are the same kids that you will see playing this summer in the 2019 brackets.

On youth hockey blog sites these debates don't exist...you're born in one calendar year, have to register with US Hockey and can't play without your player registration form that validates your age. There is no debate, older kids are bigger, stronger, faster, better than younger kids, that's why you're supposed to play against your own age. Someone's kid is always going to be the youngest, but the way US Lacrosse does it results in humongous age gaps and it's not just a few months difference, it could be as much as 17 months (December 2003 kid starts school with others from 2003 and plays against a kid born August 1st 2002 is 17 months older!) What a joke...

Typical NY narcissism. It seems you are the only ones using the 12/31 cut off but every other part of the country should adhere to your rules? You don't follow the US Lacrosse age guidelines yet you expect US Lacrosse to protect your little darlings from all of the big, bad animals on the other side of the Goethals?

A couple of weeks ago Crush parents were puffing about winning a 2019 tournament when their own 2019 team didn't even make it out of pool play. Now you are questioning the mindset of some kids from Philly? Mindset? Why wouldn't they want to play a team that just won a 2019 tourney? If they were scheduled to play 91 2019, I'm sure they would have played them instead.

And Johnny didn't blow by the LI kid because he was a year younger. Johnny blew by him because the kid thought he was better than he really is and tried to "D up" Johnny at midfield instead of dropping into the hole. I guarantee both teams got better after competing against each other.

Wow, this is an interesting feed. My observation after reading is that they very well may be a true 2019 team, just not be according to age. Parents living through their children tend to leave them back. Not for academic reasons, but so that they will be the big boy on the field. Impressive.

Most likely close to 2 years younger, but why even bother counting.
I ask again, why do you knowingly play down against younger smaller kids? How does your team get better doing this?
Have you ever tried playing on age? Perhaps you should schedule a few games against those scary 2018 teams from LI. You know, the one's the Crabs need 15 and 16 year olds to beat. They are the same age and size as your kids. I think we all know the answer to that question...

Unfortunately, you can skim every age group in this forum and see the same argument. UNTIL, US Lacrosse steps in and demands a card issued with a picture, verified by a birth certificate, and withold insurance for any event, this will continue to happen. There are plenty of other youth sport governing bodies who establish and enforce the rules. US Lacrosse is failing the sport and its membership. Why are we members if they don't support the membership?

this horse is beaten to death already. can't wait for this weeks schedule to come out so that this discussion will finally be behind us for everyone on this thread that is not a Rising Son or Crush parent.

We have all read your sides to the story. the game is over. neither of your teams had to take this game but you both decided too. You both knew what you were getting. For us "merely average parents" can we have the thread back now?

Funny interpretation. Igloo 2022 has played up all winter and has never been accused of causing a defense to have penalties. Anyway if that's what makes you feel good about a tight game with younger kids, good luck. Or maybe the defense should practice more.

Wow a Jester parent claims they could not blow out a younger team because the Jesters defense took too many penelties. Nice. I see it in a different way. The younger Igloo team was passing and running around the Jester defense and the only way to stop about 5 more sure goals was to take a penalty for each. Igloo could have had 5 more goals if not for those penalties!!! Get over it and don't blame your own defense for those goals!!! It ia a team sport.

I was at the 91 Crush game at St Anthony's this weekend. It was a nice sunny day. BUT....the 91 parents who were screaming nearly in a play by play style need to look at a video of themselves. Embarrassing. You all can't seem to get how ridiculous you sound when you verbally hammer a 6th grader on the field. For your kids sanity and confidence....stop.

People love to exaggerate and end up keeping this team, you all seem to either hate or envy, in the spotlight- talk about free advertisement for 91. I was there too, after another game as well, and the parents were not going crazy on their kids- lighten up. There are crazy parents on every team. There are passionate parents on every field. Can we move on from this one crush game- there are many other teams and kids that played this past week end too. New week end, new games.

Kids can't hear you anyway. And if you dissect the game on the way home and highlight all things why they lost, even sadder.

[size:14pt][/size]I thought HHH Dukes was the best PA team? We played them with our 2020 Terps missing 3 top players and beat them 11-3. With our top players we beat them like 20-2. Maybe the Rising Sons should play HHH.

No doubt igloo 2022 lost to an older jesters team in a close game. To suggest that jesters trains their kids to poke check at exactly 4' 3" and can't adjust up or down is silly. Physical? No. Just bad defense. Many teams play up and never before has a parent been so stupid as to suggest that the older team can't defend the younger team because of height. You are a moron. Enjoy the win, real meaningful game. Let's see how you guys do in the tournaments, I assume you play in the B division again this year so chances are you will see igloo 2022 again.

Not a Jester or Igloo parent but have seen both teams play. Jesters defense is bad. No other way to put it. The team can score and they have a good goalie but the defense runs around, has limited stick skills and get beat one on one. Once beat they take bad penelties. The Jesters are a B team that plays in the A bracket. They will learn soon that they are a B team. Igloo 2022 is a solid team. If they play the Jesters 10 times I think Igloo would win 6 of them. A win by 3 goals does not place the Jesters in a higher bracket then Igloo. If these Jester parents think the Jesters are far better then 2022 Igloo just because they won a game by 3 goals it shows they are joke. Read this thread above. Jesters first reported the score as 12-3. Seems you can't believe anything a Jester says!!!

True, the age old discussion, how does the 10 year old long pole guard the the 9 year old attackman. We have no solution our 10 year olds poke high and the 9 year old are low and we lose. This dilemma has plagued us from even before the days of BOTC. What a loser you are.

Love the d pole talk at 9/10 years old and love the spelling of "penaltie" funny stuff. Unknowingly (big word, don't embarrass yourself, look it up) you give jesters a bad name when you think you are defending them. Put the Budweiser down and sleep it off.

Hey Jack Arse, it doesn't just apply to 9/10. It happens at 12 and 13... 13/14 some smart coaches even use it as a strategy. Put little petey at attack and watch the flags fly. Big johnny cant seem to defend but can help but push down on the smaller boy.

Igloo defenders don't use a long pole in 4th grade. Gives all teams an advantage against igloo and they still play solid defense. I never thought I would be on here posting for igloo but reading these Jester parent post makes me laugh and want to respond because the Jesters are not very good. I don't see any post telling us how they did against the top 5 2021 teams that they have played. Should we post a couple of those scores???? Funny stuff.

Jesters 2021 played in "B" brackets last year, they won a couple of "B" championships and contended in others. If this was your sons team what would they do? Stay in "B" and continue on the same path, or try and compete in "A" and take some lumps? They are a "B+" team and not claiming much more.

There are morons on this forum on both sides of every argument, to call a bunch of 5th grade boys a "joke" may leave something to be desired.

I have my own kids or friends playing on every team, there is good and bad in each, including the parents. I have three children playing; 2021, high school and college. Relax a bit with the "joke" assessment, many of these kids in all of 2021will not even be playing by the time JV comes around let alone college.

Actually 91 has the Bandits, who is probably the best team at 2023.

before we start this. the bandits are the better team, until the express badgers beat them. that hasn't happened yet, but the badgers did beat the warriors.

First of all...,,it was not a close game at all. Secondly, why play up and in a B division at all. All the older teams Turtles, Extreme etc always played up in A to challenge themselves. If you are playing B , mine as well play your age A teams.

Are you idiots really pounding your chests about who is the best 8 year old lacrosse team??

The unfortunate part is these teams will upgrade every year. By 8th grade you would be lucky to have 3 of the same kids on team. Be careful who you refer to as second class. Never know where you may end up!

This is 3rd grade lacrosse!!

Did you say it is no help for Jesters 2021 "A" team to play a 2022 team? Jeters 2021 "A" team lost to a 2022 team yesterday. No surprise because the Jesters are a "B" team at best so stop this talk. Enjoy your season as a "B" team. An "A' team should be able to beat a younger team so that makes you a "B" team. End of this debate.

Jesters pretty much played man down the entire game - should of been 12-3 I guess. Hd 10 or more penalties on defense going up much smaller kids. shouldn't be playing younger teams, not help to either team,

It was a 3 goal victory and tied at the half. Very close game. Often the 2-3 top teams will play up to challenge themselves against what should be tougher competition in an older B division. Nobody on igloo is claiming to be turtles or claiming to be able to compete a grade up in the A division. Here is a good example. Igloo played a tight game against jesters 2021 and then beat jesters 2022 by 15 goals. We can tell by your poor grammar and spelling that you are the same poster as earlier who believes jesters easily beat igloo despite the score suggesting otherwise and the same poster who believes kids can't defend ones 6 inches shorter. Do yourself a favor and stop posting, you sound stupider each time you type.

they beat 2022 Jesters 9 1. Still does not change outcome of 2021 game.

Keep playing up in B brackets. It will make you (crazy parent) feel better!

Sounds like the playing up game was the closer game, more evenly matched. So, what's the contoversy. I would take a 3 goal win or loss as opposed to a one sided game anytime. Sounds like a very bitter jesters parent can't accept a younger team playing them evenly. On that topic, how did jetsters do against smash

Sounds like the playing up game was the closer game, more evenly matched. So, what's the contoversy. I would take a 3 goal win or loss as opposed to a one sided game anytime. Sounds like a very bitter jesters parent can't accept a younger team playing them evenly. On that topic, how did jetsters do against smash

stop saying 3 goal game! Was not a close game!

They lost to Smash.

2021 Jesters are a B+ team, I don't think parents or kids are claiming anything more. The organization is not 91, Igloo or Express. 4th grade "A" teams games should be competitive with them. They did not practice much fall or winter and did not play in any winter leagues. If they compete in "A" this summer they will have an uphill fight the entire way, if they go "B" they will win. What would you do? More importantly why should you care?

If you have been around for any significant time you know there are parents on every team that have trouble just enjoying the game.

Lost to smash, uh oh. Sounds like those darn long poles must have got in the way again, couldn't be smash is better. I assume jesters would have won but their defense got too many penalties against a team with smaller kids

Jesters by 3, tied at the half. No big deal, good win for jesters.

This had to be one of the most hateful groups of people to keep posting this stuff. These are 9/10/11 year old boys and please don't tell anyone on this forum that there aren't players on any other organization not called 91, Express or Igloo who can't play with them. Seems people have it in for this organization for whatever reason but there are some very good players on these Jesters teams and to say there isn't is just a narrow minded group. We all know how these teams are formed and why leave teams your comfortable with for the off chance of making a team that has limited to no openings or have a good player rejected when you know there was only 1 or two openeing not in the position they play. Please, I cannot what until these kids are 15/16/17 years old, then opinions on players and teams will hold more value. Let them play, have fun, learn and get better. What good does bashing organization with great players not listed as the "best", because unless your on those top teams, when their weak teams that get beat by these "second class" you never hear from and just hid behind a teams name. Remember many of the kids also read these forums, image your kids reading they play for a "second class" and not realizing the source likely peaked in highschool JV living through their child.

Well said. Newsday listed the top 100 lacrosse players on LI a few weeks ago and several players from my son's Jester team were on the list!! Everyone catches up. Adults "deciding" who is best and speaking about 9 and 10 year olds is disgraceful!

Psssst... Don't tell everyone our secret. Let these people and there kids enjoy the insanity on those so called "top" teams. Guess what? Many of these families will be looking to join a club like Jesters as the kids get a little older, to get away from the nut jobs. I promise you. BTW it's not your teams record that matters. I'd rather have my son on .500 A team that plays against the best competition. Your son will get better playing tough competition. Playing being the key word. Many of the kids on the top two teams as they get older are "role" players. This kid only does ground balls, this kid is our crease guy, this kid only feeds, these tow kids are our shooters, and these two kids are our dodgers. Believe me, my son lived it. Your son will become a much better player having the freedom to play all aspects of the game against the best teams. Let these other wackos worry about winning the 10 year old bracket at the "summer super tournament".

The Honey Badgers beat the 91 Warriors? Don't remember them ever playing. Last year 91's second team beat the Badgers 3 times and only lost 1. The Badgers are not even close to 91's first team at 2023: 91 Bandits.

Your just as bad as the other Jesters Parents. You see what you want to see and ignore the facts. I guess you missed that this all started by a Jester parent posting that the Jester 2021 team beat a 2022 team. Then another Jester parent post that the score was 12-3 when it was a three goal game. The Jester parents also claimed that they are too good to play 4th grade teams. Truth is that a 3 goal game against a younger team who does not even use long poles no way puts the Jesters in a group too good to play 4th graders. Also when you beat a team by three goals that makes for a good second game that anyone can win. To make it all too funny that great Jester 2021 team got beat by another 2022 team this past weekend. What we did learn was that the Jesters 2021 team can compete in the "A" bracket in the 2022 year But are a "B" 2021 team. Not even B plus. Next year those 2022 teams will use long poles and at that point this Jester team may not even be good enough to compete with the 4th graders. That is where the hate came from. One last thing no one is saying the Jesters have no great players on those Jester teams. That is not the point being made by anyone.

Badgers beat the warriors at the Halloween Havoc. But they are only 3rd graders.. We have at least 5 more years to flood this board with that.

Your missing the point. There are bad PARENTS on all sides and organizations and for you to keep carrying on proves your just one of those parents. I never stated the Jester parent was right but the fact I just typed PARENTS 3 times proves this sport at the youth level has become more about the Parents than the kids. The points made were more about bashing organization, who is a B, B+, A, who needs to fulfill their own self bravado through what team they play on. Can you just drop who said what and what right or wrong score was posted. Who played up or down - who really cares. This is 4th and 5th grade lacrosse. I played for Hopkins many years ago, is my kid better than yours, I have no idea and don't care, does my kids play for 91, Express or Igloo no and I don't care- what I know is what it takes to get from point A to Z and i can guarentee one thing - it doesn't mean a dame thing what team they play on in 5th grade which is D in the big scheme or things or how many wins they get. All that does is pad the pockets of the clubs. So, why don't we all just remember where the parents and the kids play the game and considering we are al from Long Island and we want the best to still come from this small swatch of land why can we support each other than kill each other? Your choice...Tell you son good luck this year, play, practive and study hard...

Same thing happened last week with Elwood tourney and OBYLL scheduled anyway. They don't care if you can field a team, just that they cram in the amount of games promised.
Definitely a must skip next year.

So who are you playing this weekend? You don't have a game scheduled do you? I haven't seen one person yet say they definitely have a game and who they are playing.

Did you call your coach. Pretty sure he was contacted on Wed. As that is usually when the schedule comes out. I know our team has no game. Email I got from our coach said no game because of the Syosset tournament and the holiday weekend

Your coach is wrong. Email came out to all coaches on Wednesday morning that there will be no games this weekend.

Subject: OBLL Games April 19/20 No Games
Coaches,

We have a no OBLL games this weekend due the Holiday weekend and the Syosset youth tnmt.

Look for a full slate of games next weekend.

Mike

There is only one game this weekend. A 3rd grade Express team vs. a 4th grade Jester team.

Not an Igloo parent here...they are hands down the best team in that age bracket. They are well coached and inspiring to watch.

Okay...that comment inspired me to write this:

'an inspiring true story of one team's struggle to overcome the haters like you'...how's that for word usage? I guess you missed the OR's in your posted definition...OR decided to pick one source to reference.

So grasp the concept that Igloo seems to have 'created something' (a great team & environment) that many would 'want to do'...and your just envious that they're happy while achieving success.

Also, can a team not be an inspiring leader or role model for other teams to look up to? Sure it can. Does your favorite college team or MLL not create any type of inspiration?

Yes...inspire...I guess once Merriam got involved, Merriam cleaned up Webster's definitions. Kind of like those nice people out there who love the sport and have to clean up after jerky people like you.

From Merriam-Webster:

in·spire
verb \in-ˈspī(-ə)r\

: to make (someone) want to do something : to give (someone) an idea about what to do or create

: to cause (something) to happen or be created

: to cause someone to have (a feeling or emotion)

Now, look up the word touché.

The funny thing is that you are so arrogant, that people think you are the above word if you replace the letter t with d.

Obviously Igloo is the best team on Long Island at the this age group. But why is it always taken in the context that numbers 2-5 are bad. They are all very teams, filled tons of talented 11 year olds.

The more you write the more you just make the point that you are a little too invested in 5th grade lacrosse....If you are inspired now just wait until middle school!

Not an Igloo parent here...they are hands down the best team in that age bracket. They are well coached and inspiring to watch.

inspiring /ɪnˈspajɚrɪŋ/adjective

Webster's definition of INSPIRING

[more inspiring; most inspiring]

:causing people to want to do or create something or to lead better lives

■
an inspiring leader

■
His generosity is inspiring.

■
an inspiring [=inspirational] true story of one family's struggles to overcome poverty

You really need to stop claiming to be a non igloo parent and then claim they inspire you. You want to pump up your team and your kid then do it, don't try to act like other parents are actually inspired by your team. We are not.

Sure your not....come on guy. When you lost in the shamrock shootout, a tournament, it was blah blah it's one game now you win one spring league game and your the second coming. Typical igloo deny the losses but flood this sight with one win....wait til laxfest

That is why Igloo parents are not liked. They talk it up with wins that mean nothing and ignore loses that are more important. It has nothing to do with them being a great 5th and 6th grade combo team. Funny how they are a great combo team but some of the Igloo players don't standout in the PAL games.

So they are a U10 and U11 run org, big deal, they not playing on LI except for Lax Fest. I really wish everyone would go that way. Although, we would actually have to talk about lacrosse on these forums if that happened... Very surprised no U9 team was formed and this club didn't continue to build on it's success.

If Igloo is hands down the best team, they should be playing in the 2020 A bracket this summer. What's the point of playing teams they know they are so above? After all, it's not just about winning.

Play against kids closer in age to them? Never!!! They like having the age advantage.

Yes, Igloo is a 2020 team. They play in 2021 although they have older kids on the team who are in 6th grade who do not qualify as true 2021 players.
Let the year play out....They know they have older players on the team. Period. Just go out and beat them.

Igloo is 2020? How does the league allow them to play 2021 then? Did I miss a rule change?

Anyone who knows this league , know there are teams always playing up or down , they are all competitive so why make that statement? It not like igloo is playing farmingdale 2021 or some other random town , they play other travel teams .

If you look at their schedule they want nothing to do with all this petty whining. They are playing off the Island all summer except for lax fest. So go fire up your petitions to make sure they play in the 2020 group. Laughable, just show up and play some 'youth' lax. This all works itself out in 9th grade.

Agreed about just wanting to play. Just don't make the statement that you are THE BEST in 2021 when you do not qualify in that age group and other teams, TRAVEL TEAMS, are completely and legitimately age eligible.

Here we go again with the whining. Must be a parent on team that can't beat Igloo and coming up with conspiracy theories.

If you look at your team's roster I am sure you have kids older than the oldest kid on many of these teams - including Igloo.

We should be happy our kids are healthy and playing a game with their friends they enjoy.

There are posters on this board who promote their children's team and others who knock kids and programs. Which one are you?

I believe as a person you have to start to read your posts with the idea that kids are reading them. We have a responsibility to the youth players to act like role models and I don't see how your comment is productive, fact based, or even self fulfilling in any way. there are plenty of great teams out there. And In my opinion 91, Igloo, Express and many others all have extremely talented boys. Until they reach manhood these games truly don't mean much; besides creating a safe, and fun environment for the kids to play competitive lacrosse. If you can't control your comments to positive concepts about your son's team and players then why are you writing on another teams blog? Just to bash kids and teams from other organizations to make yourself feel better, maybe! I'm not trying to be rude, but my son saw this message and thread and was wondering why someone hates him so much! Please I beg you to grow up and realize that your responsibility as a parent is show how grow ups deal with things, not how things that truly don't matter in the grand scheme of life get blown out of proportion. So respectfully asking you to please stop the negative comments. You don't know who your hurting.

Maybe on the HS JV team it does, but not in travel or the showcases. The holdback game played in MD PA Mass and other places in 8th grade makes things very interesting. You'll see.

I do not know why they would want to play 2021 if they already know they will beat those teams. The better teams play up- just common sense- not forcing them to do so- but why play beneath them, unless they want to just win for the sake of winning. Maybe in MD, PA, VA they will see the competition they are looking for in 2021, as those teams are are older in age and will be competitive.

#1 this isn't an igloo thread #2 one of your parents came on here to brag about an "inspiring" spring league win #3 maybe you should be responsible and not allow your child to read these posts since everyone is like this

Point is igloo may have been the best last yr but they haven't won a tournament this yr yet so let's wait and see what happens at laxfest

I agree...I would never let my kids read the stuff on these posts...That in itself is damaging...especially a 10 year old.

WTS...I think igloo has talented kids...I also think this little banter has sparked a flame in which these 2021 teams will now be gunning for these poor kids and looking to beat them at all costs. Sometimes its better to not gloat....You create a disliking for your organization and I am sure its not what the coach wants and you're really doing a injustice to the kids. Good luck with your future games....After all the smack I just read you better not lose....I will be checking up. smile

I would agree but you have one fact wrong. Almost all the Igloo kids are already 11 years old. I think only about 3 or 4 or even only two left that are still 10. I hope the Igloo parents don't deny this.

Igloo 5/6 grade team (most of them already 11 years old) is closer in age to 91 2020 Crush then to 91 2021 Heat or any other 2021 team. When Igloo beats top teams that are similar age to them it will be nice but still not "inspiring".

This is comical. You know ALL the ages of all teams on Team 91 and Igloo? I would like to see your spreadsheet too!! All these negative comments on 10/11 year old kids is disturbing. Why not just watch and talk about some good lacrosse instead of bantering.
