There is a simple solution...Bring this to the attention of the Youth Lacrosse Club Director or President and have them put a stop to it. If that doesn't work notify the League. The club doing this will be told to stop.

They’re also bringing in TG kids from other town teams. I guess they’re that desperate to win.

IMHO this depends on the grade and the quantity of girls on the team.

2nd thru 4th:
I could see where a town having just enough girls to field two teams borrow players from the same town's "other" team. I can see doing this so they can have enough girls to field 16 girls (two sub lines at middie).

This would benefit all girls. Why, because if the town only fielded one team (with all of the girls) the girls would barley see the field.

5th thru 7/8th:
Question the motives but if for the same reasons as above (I don't think that is what you are insinuating) if not the same as above why not just speak to the coach for your daughter to possibly get more time on the field.

It is an instructional league and the SCGL rules do say all players should play 1/2 the game.

Its not a club doing this.clubs have nothing to do at all with pal teams. It is coaches and parents doing it and sad to say it happens all over with kids from other age groups and even non club kids, some bring inter town kids in from other age groups (up is ok). Asking PAL to tell club how or what to do is a joke, one has nothing to do with the other. Until a strong backbone league comes along requiring refs checking player card issued off a birth certificate, this will never be controlled. SCGL is a miilion miles away from being strong enough or organized enough to enforce this, plus its all over in 7 or 8th grade and in many cases earlier than that, so is it even worth it.

did you see what spallina did with stony brook this year, #6 in the country, highest ranking of a Long Island team ever, 13 - 2 record, only loses florida and maryland. should be coach of the year hands down.

It’s pretty lame to bring in ringers at any level, but to do it at the PAL level is pretty sad. I’m sure these coaches go home and thump their chests after each win and convince themselves that they’re doing the right thing. This is why I think the school coaches should play a bigger role in town ball (boy and girls). The reality is most of these kids are the future of the school’s athletic program and by letting kids from out of the district play just because they’re studs, takes away from developing a formidable school team for the future. It’s also not fair to the kid that works hard and comes down to every practice, only to lose playing time because some Psycho daddy wants to win. If you’re a parent who sees this happening on your team, you should tell the coach to end it now.

I Heard an YJ mom going on about this last week. Are you sure this has nothing to do with the fact the TG kids are involved?

When I said club i meant the town lacrosse club not a travel pay to play organization.

That's some allegation. Which town? It's been asked before and with no response we will assume it's just an attempt to stir the pot!

Did you also see the schedule? Many "phone in" games to say the least. Wonder what the record would be with a top D-1 schedule. Just saying.

Very ignorant thing to say. Who cares , the kid that joined pal and now sits on the bench watching kids play who did not even pay because some coach wants to win a pal game. I really do not care if some kid from a neighboring town wants to play for whatever reason so long as they go thru the correct process ie get release from their program and are on the roster. They should however play on only one pal team .

You must be a very negative person, you cannot even find something positive to say about an up and coming local D1 program that is full of long island talent. Pathetic, just saying.

PAL requires that the girls receive a minimum amount of playing time. Even with 20 girls on a team you can have 2 goalies and 2 lines each of attack, midfield and defense. With the younger girls they are huffing a puffing after a few min and most coaches swap out the entire unit. I find it hard to believe that girls sre not playing at all and sitting on the bench watching.

Let the school coach take a bigger role; may work in districts like WI,NP,WM. But; in districts such as Longwood, etc; that will not work at all.

Well mr/mrs anonymous, I simply asked which town the issues were taking place in and not the posters address. Since I don't make claims I can't or won't back up it seems unnecessary to announce where I live. Now that that's cleared up do you know the town you or the poster was referring to?

I'm sorry if my post offended you but the fact is Stony Brook plays a lower tier D1 schedule. Their two games against ranked D1 teams (Maryland and Florida) were losses. I love the fact that they are doing good but think the #6 ranking is a bit high considering their strength of schedule. I certainly don't think my comments are pathetic as you stated and I welcome a discussion and your point of view. Here is the latest D1 rankings. How many are on SBs schedule? http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/lacrosse-women/d1
If you are unsure here is the link to their schedule. http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/w-lacros/sched/ston-w-lacros-sched.html

For example Loyola has played 10 opponents ranked in the top 20 compared to Stony Brooks 2 ranked opponents. Loyola is ranked #12 as opposed to SBs #10. Is that ranking justified given the strength of schedule? Thoughts anyone?

Agreed. However how do you feel about their ranking given their strength of schedule?

I feel great about it because I support the local lacrosse teams, and taking their record into account as compared to the school with 7 loses that you use in your example it seems fair.

I see...not sure I agree they should be ranked so high but SB is having a good year and hopefully then continue far into the playoffs.

It all depends how you look at it, yeah 7 losses to top 20 teams, but 3 wins compared to 0 wins against top 20 for SB. Had they played 8 more games they might have some wins against top 20s. I like the Seawolves and root for them, they did a nice job this year and last, but yes that ranking seems way off base. It is hard to tell where they stand among the top 20 when every win they have is non ranked teams and every loss is against ranked.

I wanted to make a comment about a 6th grade town team game against middle country and esm. I am not bashing top guns as I respect the organization. I have a problem with the parents who have daughters on that team that play for top guns. Please remember the word parents as I am referring to their conduct towards 11 year old children. Middle country has a true a team with most girls playing travel and they have many good players. ESM is made up of girls with all ability levels with two experienced travel players and three that just started travel. The other 11 are seasonal players who only play in the spring We were put in an a division which we knew we shouldn't be in but that wasn't our choice. During this game the coach thought it appropriate to laugh at one of the ESM players while she was caught in a monkey in the middle situation. He also thought it appropriate to send his player to run the perimeter of the field. While this happened the MC parents had no problem making fun of these girls as they played. Comments from these parents were heard by the girls. in the last 10 minutes of the game MC decided that they would stall the ball. We went there to play knowing it was going to be a tough game. Out of concern for the children and their emotional well being, the esm coach pulled the girls from the field. Showing their true selves, the MC top guns parents began to yell out to these 11 year old girls that they are quiters and babies. They also were making the choking sign to the girls. Do you think that they didn't see or hear you? Well all 16 girls did hear and you should be ashamed. You are adults and parents. Start acting like it. This may be a difficult goal but try to be a positive role model for all children. I am lucky enough to have a daughter that will rise above the ashes but this is not the case for all. This post is for them. This was a town league game, not travel and there was no title or championsip at stake. We all know words hurt and to come from an adult is worse. Again I apologize to all those top gun parents not involved in this situation. I do feel it warranted that others are made aware of these unconscionable actions. Good luck with the remainder of town league and for the summer ahead.

Sorry to hear about the above incident, although I have seen some of this BS in other sports and age groups.. Soccer comes to mind. I think as parents we are our own worst enemies sometimes. I recall soccer having a "Players Weekend" where the parents and coaches were asked not to comment or shout out during games.. How embarrassing is that, that the league needs to tell us to shut up

As a Middle Country parent I feel bad for how my town is being portrayed. We have worked hard to make our program relevant. Unfortunately there will always be parents who act childish. I know that I tell my kids to always respect your opponent on and off the field. Class goes a long way. I Wasn't there and I am sure there are two sides to this story. I am also sure this happens in many towns at many levels of sports. Hopefully if anything it will be a wake up call to any parents who feel the need to act like idiots.

I’m truly appalled to hear of this behavior and you are completely right in that these are young girls, out to play on a town team and have fun. Sports are not supposed to humiliate and belittle, nor are any upstanding adults supposed to engage in same either. Although not there to see it first hand, it is heart breaking to know any child was broken down so adults could feel better about themselves.

Although some may have been TG parents, I would encourage you to not paint all assocaited with the team or even the MC towns, with the same broad stroke as many of us stand with you and your sentiments and do in fact believe that girls and well-being come first.

That's more than a comment. I agree with you that nobody should behave this way. You did a nice job to pinpoint exact team, age group etc so people famiilar should know exactly who you are talking about. The unfortunate part is, if everyone came on here to air out foolish behavior on the lacrosse sidelines, every thread would have thousands of complaints every weekend.

I have seen the middle country team many times .Their 6 th grade coach should be ashamed of himself .If they think they have a tuff game coming they actually bring in kids from other towns ( yes TG players) who are not on their roster to play. They will not come on here and deny it because if they do I will send pictures to the league proving it. No I did not report this to the league because I honestly could not care less who wins scgl games and in the end would just hurt the girls who just want to play. That being said they use the stall method all the time, if they have a lead they stall for 15 minutes at times which is such a cheesy thing to do when there is no stick checking and the refs are bad enough that they never call 3 seconds for closely guarded. It's not the NCAA or even varsity but their coach thinks he is some sort of lacrosse guru when in reality he is a complete tool taking advantage of scgl rules.

As you are correct if everyone complained about this type of behavior these boards would be filled with complaints, but in saying that, it seems that this particular MC team and coach has had a lot of complaints from different parents at different venues. Maybe these coaches shouldn't be coaching youth sports. It seems that they have to win at all costs, and as for parents acting so inappropriately towards children....they should be embarrassed. ESM coach should be applauded for pulling her team, who wants to ridiculed by parents and coaches from an oppossing team....shame on you, if you think you are winners, you are wrong, in most peoples eyes, you are losers.

Funny how one of the craziest coaches who has been red carded several times and fights at almost every game her team plays, should be applauded. She pulled those girls out of her own frustration and not to protect the girls on the team. She thinks her daughter is a superstar who can win every game for her and when it doesnt happen she loses control. The referee told the girls and the coaches of Middle Country that they were not at at all to blame that they were 100% in the right and that the coach of ESM was entirely to blame. All stories have two sides and if any reasonable adult thinks a bunch of parents were yelling directly at children and giving them the choke sign, maybe it's you who need your heads examined. It didn't happen!
