Have to say nothing more irritating than players who score a couple of goals and also turn it over twice as much. Sure path to losing.

2 best Nassau semis are LB v Set & Syo v Port, then maybe CSH v NS, thoughts?

I disagree with that statement. I think MC is going to lose

I guess leading the county in assists, hustling back on D, sacrificing your body for ground balls and being widely acknowledged as a smart, fun, humble leader by her teammates doesn't count for making your teammates better. And stats do matter when every team you face is trying to shut you down with their "best players" and double teams. There are other great players on Long Island as there always are. Who "the best" is doesn't matter, does it? Syracuse thinks she's pretty special. You should watch her play sometime. Oh and yes, she did lead her team to an upset over Southside in the playoffs and the RVC fans sounded like the people on this chain. Envy is a terrible thing.

agree by far best player on LI. Stats ( goals AND assists ) plus like above mentioned the other team attempting to double you and shut you down and she still prevails. They might not win the counties but no denying her talent. I guess if she were from GC or Sett she'd be deemed best player in country by now.

Coaching is the X factor during the playoffs. The most talented team does not always win. The best coaches will have scouted their opponents and they will prepare accordingly. A well thought out game plan and strategy can make the difference in two evenly matched teams. It can also help to overcome a lack of talent. Sound game planning coupled with smart in-game decisions/adjustments will many times lead to a championship.

Ward Melville - Favorite

Middle Country - Likely Winner

Smithtown East - Has a chance

Northport - ??

Sachem North - Possible

Huntington - Dark Horse

WM – Tough to go undefeated for the season. Loses in second round.
MC - Should win it all, but their coaching might let them down again. This coach has had some of the best talent on LI for the past few years and has not been able to seal the deal.
SE – I think this is the surprise team to watch out for.
NP – Loses in the 1st round.
SN – Can beat MC in the 1st round. If that happens, they will lose in second round.
H – Loses in the 1st round.

Ward Melville - Certainly has the horses and the depth but if history is an indicator they will be out coached.
Middle Country - Has had more in the past and coaches have not been able to get it done when it counts.
Smithtown E - Has come on strong but not sure this is their year.
Northport - Can they get focused?
Sachem N - Play with a chip on their shoulder and are hungry.
Smithtown W - What happened? They returned a lot from a strong team last season.
Riverhead - Program has come a long way but not there just yet.
West Islip - They have won without being the most talented or athletic team in the past. Can they do it again?

Your coach

It's team coach and then opposing coaches. It's a give and take. Depending on how well (or poorly) the team did, the team is then only entitled to a certain number of selections for each award.

How many awards per playoff team, vs Non? Did awards get announced yet?

True, but a 5 beating a 4 isn't upset of the tournament. Plus, they had a tight game during the year.

Wi has won the Suffolk championship and the lic for the last 3 years. They've been tonstates for the last three years winning once. Do you have any idea how difficult that is???? To say they don't have talent or athletic kids is ridiculous

ALL the teams counting on 8th and 9th graders to win will fail big time, pequa the only exception because the goalie is a game changer and the conference pretty much sucks

Yes really. Too bad the blind and/ or corrupt refs didn't see her when she turned her back to the field and adjusted her strings right before the stick check. Lots of other people witnessed this. Doubt it was caught on film, but the game tape from that game definitely needs to be reviewed. Lots of shady calls. It was disgraceful.

South Side didn't have a chance. They were the better team who played the better game, but the refs were determined to give Lynbrook the win.

clearly a bitter parent. Riverhead had some quality wins vs West Islip, Huntington twice, bay Shore, and had a very close game vs Sachem North. The blowouts were to MC, WM, and Smithtown. A lot of teams had that happen to them by those teams. They are a very young team that starts mostly 9th graders and 10th graders. They aren't going to win any county or state championships, but they'll be competitive. Considering how young they and the program are that's all they can ask for.

Not always. Didn't look at the specifics of this game, but #5 could have lost a few games at the beginning of the season and came on strong, while #4 started strong and limped to the end or had injuries, but still ended up with a better record. An upset is when the team expected to lose a game wins it instead. Obviously no point spreads in this case, but #5 could have been the favorite.

Look at NCAA hoops - 9's are often favored over 8's, 10's over 7's, etc. I think there was even a 12 favored over a 5 this year - in that case it's not an upset.

Idiot parents. Anyone who has ever been honest to themselves knows to teach their kids that they should never leave it to the officiating to decide games. Surely there were things they could have done to negate bad officiating. In a close game that can go either way refs are human. Best to not leave it up to them, as much as it hurts. Of course on the sidelines what's a charge for one team is a great drive to the goal for the other. What is an illegal check for one team, is a great play by the other. None of us know how the refs are going to call plays. It's all judgement, and well they get paid to ref, and no one pays them on the side to make tilt calls to one team or the other.
