Syosset and Ward Melville with Ward Melville winning the states. Saw them down in Maryland this summer, if they get out of Suffolk, no one is beating them.......not a Ward Melville parent but they are the real deal.

Yes Pequa for Nassau

But WI for Suffolk, they got some strong players this year on every position of the field . They won Hotbeds this summer.

Farmingdale will be in the mix next spring. Syosset lost some me top offensive players but will be better than Pequa in my opinion. In Suffolk, same old teams Ward Melville, West Islip, Smithtown West and maybe Smithtown East will finally win a state title with all that talent that has been around for years. Don't think Connetquot will be the force they were, not deep enough. I think surprise teams could be Commack and Riverhead. HHHE can make some noise too.

Smithtown East returns the majority of starters who will be very strong, mature senior players. Despite the big loss at X, they have two very strong seniors ready to get that job done. Will be a complete team, and their last chance at a state title for a while. WM will also be strong , as will Smithtown West. Can't think of any others who will be real contenders. And Hotbeds is not a good indicator. That tournament has gone downhill, and many of the top HS kids play club, skipping events like that in favor of more prestigious ones.

Can't replace what Syosset lost , way too many mediocre players who think way too much of themselves and as a result will implode eventually. HC will be under constant pressure and scrutiny all year if he stays.

I think farmingdale and pequa will battle each other as always and have some great games against each other. Both teams are strong. Dalers have a very good mix coming up as well as pequa I'm sure. If the jv team for pequa was any indication of what they have coming up then the coach has work to do. Not knocking them just based upon the game. I know people on both sides so I'm just being fair. I think farmingdale 2019,2018 kids are a good mix. Alot of talent plus new coach is going to make a big difference. Dalers are solid in goal. They brought up kids with alot of talent so don't be so quick to count them out. Pequa will be talented as always but it will be great to watch two good teams play some gard lax.

Yes there were some good games, but IMHO the overall field of teams was very weak. Good for WI for winning it, but I dont think its an indication of anything. WI will be competitive as always because of their superior coaching which will be masking some serious holes, but I dont see them matching up with Smithtown East or Ward Melville.

Thanks Farmingdale Dad. No one cares about that conference . 2/3 horse race every year. Non-league games suck as well. It's football season soon anyway.

Much talent. For record I am Nassau dad from this conference.

Don't be fooled by the JV team. Pequa had a few underclassmen get serious varsity minutes last season. I'm sure if they stayed down the JV would have been much improved.

Laxpower has 7 tool bag and some of those 7 are real suspect non powerhouse schools. Face it Syosset has been a top 25 team in the nation last 2 years so by default some kids may get looks but don't confuse those 7 commits with the capability to win.

So I guess Syosset will see either Pequa or Farmingdale in the Nassau finals.

While its true that Syo graduated U19 kid, Pequa and FarmingDale also each lost their #1 scorer.

Ok sounds like soar loser let me see 0-2 for pequa in the last 2 county championship. Plus the 2018 group in Syosset is very strong also. It is D1 commit which ever way you slice it powerhouse or not. I guess where your top point leader went is not a powerhouse either!!! Cause we have one going there also.

SYO will be very strong, they have a few non commits that have competed against the top D1 commits throughout LI and easily handled them. Commits mean absolutely nothing, it is a matter of the players playing as a cohesive unit and not selfishly. The core SYO 2018 have played together in the past and have been very successful.
Let's wait until the season starts and see how it all ends, we can come here an badmouth one another all day long but until the REAL season begins, it's all nothing but banter.

just so you understand (some of you don't), every HS team, graduates every senior, every year. Yet somehow they manage to field a team the following year. When discussing next years teams it really makes little sense to talk about who they lost but rather who is on the team.

Hey Syosset I have a 2019 that did good against your D1 commits as a freshman starting on varsity is pretty good don't you think. Your such a moron and by the way it's true. Who gives a crap about D1 commits. Did it ever occur to you that the kid may be a good not great lax player but is going D1 because the school has alot to offer him. Spoken like a true idiot.

Residual effect due to the last 2 years and if it not public then it's not in black and white. Stop vicariously peacocking or are one of those guys wearing the stuff from the college bookstore your son is hopefully attending.

Suffolk has alot more kids to choose from. Very talented. Nassau dad also. Talent was decent some good teams in finals but not bad for hs teams from long island competing in finals. Good for long island. Just because Syosset has been good recently don't get all full of your self. True they do have some 2018,2019 kids that are good and they may have 11 D1 commits but do you think anyone really cares. Cant wait to beat your a** in football. Going to be alot of fun.

Oh really? Some of those kids were committed before the past 2 championship seasons for Syosset... How do you explain that? Do you really think that college coaches commit kids because the school has a name? They evaluate each kids play - mostly in summer and fall league play. (College Coaches are busy with their own lax season in the spring.)

So what the main thing is that they compete. As long as long island wins it who cares. Doesn't Syosset run in spurts. Your having a good run enjoy it because it won't last that long.

There you go again with the commits. Enough already. This may shock you but kids actually go to schools that have the academics that they are looking for and that want an education, not just lax. Plus the coaches are taking kids that are good academically and that are good athletes. What good is it to have a good athlete that can't make it because of his grades. He can be great but can't cut the mustard.

Which kid has better grades? Oh wait they have the same grades too. Come on. My son went to a prospect camp and didn't wear his schools helmet. And let me add that it was a D1 school. So now what? Let me guess, they don't look at him because now they have no clue where he's from but een though he played better then the guys with the helmet from their school they will not give him a look.

They would take them both. Or probably not the one with the crazy parents.

Completely depends on the school. Two kids with equal playing ability you have to go with the kid who is coming from the school with a better academic reputation. Why take a kid who you don't know will be able to handle the work load. Now if we are talking lower academic institutions both are getting offers

How did your son's HS Team do in the playoffs? Did his team make the pkayoffs? Starting on Varsity in 9th grade for a weak team means very little...

It's one of the top teams in Nassau that is always in it so nice try. Just maybe he is that good. Not a weak team at all. The difference is I don't go on this site to talk about my kid but when people make stupid comments it gets me pissed off. Your town isnt the only town that has talent like that. Listen we live on LI which produces a great deal of talent. We should be proud that long island represents all the time. He got looks at already from D1 to D3 schools. I'm not going to come on this site and brag about D1 commits cause in reality I'm worried about my son's academics and which school will fit his academic skills. I for one am happy when I hear that a long island team wins state or any tournament that they are in. Just remember lax is a tool that may help a kid get into a college that they may not have gotten into without lax. So good for those kids that are going to a school that they want to go to not which school his or her parents want them to go to. Sure I will be proud of which ever school my kid goes to.

Talent is talent, they could care less which helmet the kid wears. Now your trying to say because your kid has a helmet from a private school that he has to be better then a kid from a public hs. Catholic schools like to recruit kids as we all know. Your trying to put down kids that don't have a helmet. Come one man my kid plays with kids that have the helmet so does that make them any better. Good for you that you can afford to send him. Others are not as fortunate as some but don't knock the kids without the helmet.

If I were a coach with the choice to recruit only one of these players, I would take the public school kid.

Chances are he comes from a family that knows what it's like to work hard and not have a silver spoon in his mouth. Real world, better work ethic, more blue collar, and fights for what he gets. I am after all, a hard working employee on a collegiate salary...far from the starched white collar pretentious parent. Plus, my team will already have many of the snobs who don't realize I am using them for their money since they can pay near full tuition while given a small percentage scholarship. (They think they're so smart!)

Also, the parents of the public school athlete know not to expect anything, whereas the private school parents are going to chew my ear off and play politics during which I will have to nod politely ad nauseam...and cringe as they present themselves in docksiders, pink shorts and a sweater draped over their shoulders. Please.

I think the few times during the season we have a post game family meal, I'd prefer to associate with a family more like my own, so the public school kid is in. You see, I just don't like the veneer of the rich families.

Finally, the public school kid is going to work harder on the field to destroy and silence the rich boy snobs that are two years older, but are in the same recruiting class. I love seeing that fire in the public school athlete then watching the rich boys call their folks right after practice wondering what to do...internally hoping his helicopter parents could call me to discuss better opportunities.

Oh, by the way, I have far less private meetings with the public school kid, but I wish I had a dollar for every time a rich private school boy came to my office in near tears hoping I'd console him cause he can't adjust. Sorry, real life lesson son. Tough love. The public school kid understands what to do.

Final choice: the public school kid, who doesn't care what helmet he is wearing because he knows that's not what makes him better. It's his character, what's inside...not the helmet or parents that shield him. I'll know my recruit plays with his heart, hustles to prove his worth and expects nothing.

Did you really think I'd take a kid who arrogantly thinks he's better and deserves the slot because his pretentious parents raised him to believe such nonsense? He still has a lot to learn and 4-5 years of college isn't enough.

Karma is a female dog and I'm sure every parent who wanted the best for their son had knots in their stomach until kid either verbally committed or signed a NLI. Don't be so pompous and condescending because your son is there already.

My son starts a big time program in about a week. Just found out about half the recruits coming in are 20 years old. This is [lacrosse]! My son is 17 and has always played by the rules. Unreal, but still know the best will prevail!

What's a collegiate salary? Sounds like a college kid working fast food for minimum wage.

Wow that was a lot of work for a premise that is patently false and completely misguided. D1 rosters are loaded with private school kids, especially the Ivies. You are making generalizations without any facts or examples. Nice try though.......

I stated 'if I were coach'. The original question was 'who would you pick', which is opinion based.

Those are the opinions I have based on real world personal experience with private and public school families, schools and lax programs.

I understand the rosters all too well and agree...loaded with private school kids who are 20 year old freshmen.

IF I were coach, I'd change the trend and not give in to the current system that is ruining the sport.

Fair enough, that is your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it. I have experience with both sides as well, my son is at a private now after being at a public up until his freshman year. IMO there are plenty of snobs that go to public schools, plenty of helicopter parents that have kids in public schools and plenty of self important, lazy, and entitled kids that go to public schools. Also, coming from what is considered a "powerhouse" lax program, I have seen numerous kids from this program get recruited and go on to college and wash out after the 1st year because they simply werent prepared for the next level. Conversely, I have met many kids who have always been private school kids that are humble, hardworking, and down to earth. Those same kids also seem better prepared for the next level. Theres a reason the D1 rosters are filled with private and prep school kids, and personally I dont see the sport being any worse for it. IMO the club scene and the money hungry club directors are ruining the game at the youth level. The parents are caught up in an arms race created by the club directors for their own benefit.

Unfortunately if you "were a coach" and tried to buck the trend and play by the rules you would be watching the playoffs from your home and after 2 years of doing that collecting unemployment.

Coaching jobs are not as secure as in the past. Schools are expecting so much more out of lacrosse programs with the cost of running programs rising every year.

WI had a strong team plus they are bringing up a few kids to make them even better than last year and with superior coaching it should be fun one to watch.

Yes there were some good games, but IMHO the overall field of teams was very weak. Good for WI for winning it, but I dont think its an indication of anything. WI will be competitive as always because of their superior coaching which will be masking some serious holes, but I dont see them matching up with Smithtown East or Ward Melville.

my kids team is better than your kids team because..........

Try and post without any of the following themes that get used way to often on here

we are richer and can afford better training
we are poorer and therefore tougher
we have sidewalks
we can not smell our neighbors barbecue
our coach isn't getting indicted
our kids go home fully clothed
your better players go to private schools
we beat you last year in a scrimmage
you graduated a really good player
our dads drink Gin from real glasses not beer from red cups
we have kids committed that don't even play lacrosse
when our seniors were in 5th grade they were undefeated in PAL
you have no tradition at your school
Ty Xanders (Nuff Said)
Inside lacrosse (Nuff Said)
hey Mike - Put a face on this
Our JV beat your JV last year
we are the only HS on LI that has zero kids blazin'

and

We are better then you

Not every kid in Private/Catholic is from a rich family. many children of Cops and teachers which keep their children grounded. Many of the publics they left had entitled students as well. Works both ways. but your are right as a coach family values and work ethic means a lot!

This whole argument is such BS. There are good and bad kids that go to privates and public. There are kids that come from horrible homes and are great kids and horrible kids that come from great homes. To assume someone is affluent because they send their child to a private school is just silly. How do you know if a a parent or parents are not working multiple jobs and sacrificing just so they may send their child to a private because that what suits their needs. Example parents bought a home in an under performing academic school district. So they work hard and put money away to send their child to a private. In my experience there are also those who live in very affluent towns that have bad schools so parents also send their kids to privates. There are so many different variations of this story it could take 100's of pages to type. The thing is to each their own and to judge from the outside is just ridiculous.

Yes there were some good games, but IMHO the overall field of teams was very weak. Good for WI for winning it, but I dont think its an indication of anything. WI will be competitive as always because of their superior coaching which will be masking some serious holes, but I dont see them matching up with Smithtown East or Ward Melville.

last year for Smith East
Ward Melville has some years left and coming up
Smith West could surprise
Wi don't see them above those 2 even though a few very talented players, but that coach could do wonders, just that I don't see the parents like the past.

Can Bay Shore pull up another player or 2 to fill gaps. Shame that St Johns and St Anthony's has their attackman (Imagine if last year their Attack was a Drexel, Penn St and Lehigh commit). Not to mention the Mid ship Commit. All involved with that big school's athletic administration should be fired! See what happens when their is no Superintendent. Those 2 coaches have really been a miracle workers. Funny how other districts have multiple coaches and complain about it and those 2 guys have had no support.

Have to agree, SA academics are the worst. Uncertified teachers who do not teach content accurately. If you do't hire a public HS teacher as a tutor, or are really smart and proficient learning on your own GOOD LUCK!!

I am after all, a hard working employee on a collegiate salary...far from the starched white collar pretentious parent. Plus, my team will already have many of the snobs who don't realize I am using them for their money since they can pay near full tuition while given a small percentage scholarship.

On Long Island, the top public school players tend to be from schools that are far "fancier" than the only two good private schools (Chaminade and St. Anthony's -- Chaminade is still the cheapest Catholic school in the NYC/LI area outside of Regis, which is free).

Let's look at the best public school programs in the Tri-State area: Garden City, Manhasset, Stony Brook, Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset, Darien, New Canaan, Bronxville, etc.

Wow! Such tough, hard-working, blue-collar public school kids!

I am sorry but you seem to be counting other peoples money and how they made it. You are telling me, you know that these parents are not working 80 hour weeks at what they do. Let it be stocks or turning a wrench. Whatever they do they must be good at it but its their money and how they spend it is their choice. Go count your money not somebody else's. Odds are many of these non blue collar guys are actually that but you dont know it.

You can debate academics until the end of time, bright, dedicated kids will do well In publics and catholics, no doubt coaches are capable and good guys, but please let's not compare the lax program at Bay Shore with a school like St Anthony's, I can appreciate the support for your school district but talking lax is a little bit disingenuous

The lax at St Anthony's is much more competitive. You can guarantee also that you will be belittled, shamed and you will never develop on that team. The favorites play no matter the talent The others thrive in college!

Wow this word for word could be talking about the Syosset lacrosse varsity team/coach and not St Anthony's. The two could be interchangeable . What a shame for the kids.

From what I'm hearing, you sure you want the Drexel commit?

Me, yes. I think he, along with a freshman at SJB, would had been a big asset.

The questions I took out of this was, how many 8th graders will they pull up. Forget about who has left and if they will be disappointmented, but don't lose sight of the future 2021 2022. The other was, how many coaches do the other large schools have on their staffs be it volunteers or paid? Credit where credit is due with the 2 coaches, you showed you can compete with just 2 coaches and 8th graders. Can you get to the next level, I think you can with more coaches and some 8 th graders

If you knew the team, last year could have been a lot different. Lots of player movement, maybe because of the social economic environment maybe because of the lack of tradition. I can't see why, it's nice to stroll along on that Main Street. Great atmosphere and restaurants, even sidewalks. What more could you ask for an eclectic town with blue collar families teaching tough family values. Sure some coaches, but not lax coaches, have been questionably removed, but not for having a student leave the school in their underwear, just maybe trying to getin them.

Seriously, fill in the blank.... Could be many. Winning or losing schools

Wow this word for word could be talking about the Syosset lacrosse varsity team/coach and not St Anthony's. The two could be interchangeable . What a shame for the kids.

Stop, you are embarrassing yourself. Keep Syosset out of this nonsense. You have no idea what you are talking about. Syosset Lax is a meritocracy... If you work hard and have skill you play - full stop. Don't drag Syosset into your petty arguments.

Yes... Tough family values... My son's HS Football Team had a scrimmage there a few years back.. All the kids bags where robbed of wallets and cell phones while the kids were on the field... Nice town!

True, but the 8th grade Bay Shore attackman that left was the points leader for all of long island during the regular season prior to playoffs, difficult in a program like Bay Shore to replace nearly 100 points from one position. The town has a lot of lax talent, unfortunately most of the true talent goes to the either SA or SJB as freshman. REAL question is why do they leave?

Agree... They can't get over that their son's travel coach tells them that their kid is the best thing since sliced bread and should be starting on varsity, while he is at the bank cashing their check.

Ah yeah he is , kid is by far the most prolific player at the age to EVER play at that school, was the leading scorer on Long Island scoring around 98 /99 points for the regular season as a 13 year old 8th grader, BS program a joke. Just a fact numbers don't lie , coaches DO NOTHING at any level to develop those kids.

Yes Chamindae saw some great Bay Shore residents wear the Flyer uniform. Imagine if they stayed, but no prodigy that went to Chaminade ever slipped a Bay Shore uniform on.

I wouldn't call it a shole but can see how many explore their options. I do agree that the HS doesn't have a history of developing sports talent, outside of maybe volleyball and cheerleading. But I dont think anyone was saying the coaches were taking responsibility, could be wrong, but they do manage what they have. In this day and age it is rare that a HS or PAL coach could take responsibility.

If the town had any leadership, like Massapequa Smithtown or 3 Village, the sports as a whole would be a lot better. Talent is there and has been. Just no cohesion to help the HS get better in the sports. The "not my problem" and "it's good enough" atmosphere shows by the assortment of athletes roaming the halls and not the playing fields.

Rumor has it legendary JC Mr Ward Melville wanted to start his Lacrosse Legacy at Bay Shore but they turned down one of the best down. Imagine that.

Looking into the future, my bet is basketball and Baseball will prosper in the near future. No disrespect there. I also suspect the future of the sport administration will change rather quickly through both natural attrituon and replacement. Can't happen soon enough.

Some say you cant argue the academics, ill bite. what facts, show where they rank as a public school. Not Newsday latest ranking where 60 NY schools ranked top 500 in the country 19 of the 60 on LI closest school sayville. Lots of other lax districts on that list. Okay maybe that is to high of a bar to set, but as a rebutal, please don't give me the survey which is taken from the 39 parents who give it a glowing recommendation. Give qualified rankings with legitimate objective ranking. They do have one heck of a drama department though.

This being a sports site concentrated on lacrosse, I also wonder if the 2018 teams will be playing on those once fanciful fields. Another rumor is they will be condemned and mark as unsuitable to play on. What's the plan? If lacrosse is still big part of your HS life away games or games at the MS are not what you want.

Ps. Nice move not allowing the team to utilize the fields this winter or summer. That's one way to make the lax community know where they rank. Just confusing when West Ilsip and Islip can use theirs.

Yes but the owner of the club team that Calabria will be coaching for has a son that will be playing for Calabria. I'm sure if the coaching check is large enough, he will be brought up to varsity no later than 9th grade. Complete conflict of interest.

there are conflicts of interest in everything, deal with it - I think that there is a conflict of interest in a web site that does not allow negative comments about clubs and club owners that advertise on there site but there is nothing we can do about it. My suggestion to you is start a youth program and hire people that can help advance your child

Many coaches were investigated this year and got fired. Too much bs and favortism as very talented players are benched. It's pay to play with the hs crap. Look at was written up in Newsday about an AD and coach retaliating against a girl player not sure if it was lax but how disguisting was that! Shame Shame Shame on you coaches.

Any surprises if a player left to go to another school. Whether incoming freshman or Sophomores. I guess you can only really tell if they play football.

Winners and losers this year from the exodus

They leave because Bay Shore school district is terrible. Better education and environment elsewhere. Simple.

You just can't quit it can you? stop with the "star" references and BS....You are the epitome of jealousy. if you spent more time helping your kid rather than being on different threads asking the same stupid questions and hating on kids your kid would be a better player. your kid won't get better when you're always sitting on your butt on the pc spewing venom at all these kids. How about we see what your kid brings out?

Agreed.

Experienced the 8th grade graduation. Experience that once and you may see things differently.

Speak with the HS principle and you realize as it may be for some, who can adapt, it may not be best for yours. Why take the chance.

Was great a few years ago, don't see that returning.

Umm, actually Bay Shore happens to be a very good school district, do the research and get your facts straight before making asinine statements.

Bay shore school district def has a bad reputation regardless of what your research shows. Not sure how you change that...

Bad reputation in what regard? Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that people are more concerned with the demographics of the school than the quality of the education, which happens to be top notch.

I'm not sure if people really know what they're talking about but generally the word is that Bay Shore is not a good school district. I don't think people even know where to find out if it's "top notch" as you say it is. I'm not saying it's bad and I wouldn't even know where to look...

You just nailed it. Best part, is as this sport grows and that demographic that these parents want nothing to do with joins the sport, little Johnny will be back on the bowling team...

What a lot of people do not realize some of these districts are better than the numbers indicate. They are hampered by a few key statistics that ultimately comes down to money. The key stats that keep some of these districts lower are:
1. SAT scores. A district can go from bottom half to top 20 if the numbers increased by 200 points. It's not to say the kids are stupid but mom and dad can't afford to pay for the same SAT prep class and specialize tutor someone in hills/smithtown or GC can afford to pay for.

2. The number of kids going on to 2 and 4 year collage. I guarantee you there are kids in these so called under-performing schools that given the same opportunity would excel. Some of them finish high school with very good grades but cannot afford to pay for collage and thus decide to enter the workforce and that is a big knock on a district numbers.

3. The number of kids that are taking (paying) AP class again finances play a big part

Sorry, no district is better than their numbers. Their numbers are what they are. Any district can say, this or that, to make them seem better but the metrics are what they are.

I think saying they are very good is asinine. Define very good. One would think top half of LI would be very good, maybe top half Suffolk, top half Islip. Please define very good with Measurables. Because I don't see it.

Wow, the money makes it all better argument. The US government has been dumping money into underperforming school districts for decades. The result? Said districts are still underperforming. Completely misguided argument. That's the DeBlasio method of improving schools, dump money in. Doesn't work.

Thank you for clearing up the under-performing schools in 100 words or less. Yes it is criminal how in 3 years DeBlasio has destroyed the once great and trouble free NYC school system.

Do you consider West Islip a good district? Zillow has West Islip rated slightly higher than Bay Shore and on some sites Bay Shore is rated higher. I have intimate knowledge of both and honestly Bay Shore is a much better district. West Islip has very good athletics but is one of the most overrated academic districts in the state.

NYC schools have been a disaster for over 50 years. There is no salvaging them. If things don't change will Long Island be far behind? Will we all be lining up to send our kids to privates like in NYC? Could this be the future?? Scary

If that helps you sleep better, okay. the real news will hit later this week when Newsday hears from gov coumo's office on the latest teacher YouTube video. In my opinion, although funny, the two videos (last spring and this week) show a clear lack of respect. I wouldnt want that type of publicity filmed or advocated in my schools by my teachers or admins.

Let's just call it what it is, Cronyism at the highest levels of state government. The most powerful union in the state continues to thwart any attempts to improve schools to line the pockets of both government officials as well as top union leaders. Who cares about the kids.

"demographic" and bay shore. When you buy in the district you know what you are getting. People don't leave Bay Shore for the private schools because of the demographic. They leave because they feel that the private school is a better fit for their kids. Bay Shore education is solid, what is lacking for such a big district is a lack of understanding about the importance sports plays in the lives of teenagers. Boys sports are an afterthought there. The district has plenty of talent. What they do not have is an athletic director who cares or coaches that care to build a program. They have teams not programs..The school board is clueless and does not care to address any issues other than "progressive" issues. What they fail to realize is that in a district with a diverse economic means, sports is the great equalizer. Promotes character, self esteem and for kid with limited role models or family a coach or team can be a very important positive influence in their lives..

The reason why schools in NYC suck is because white people moved out of the city. It has literally nothing to do with teachers, curriculum, spending, etc.

Demographics uber alles.

There are different reasons why we lose kids to St Ants,Cham or SJB. We lost 2 attack and a middie last year to St ants and attack to sjb. The team will go on and the coaches will make do with what they have. Is it a shame that we lost them? yes. It is what it is.

Since you said the person should get their facts straight I figured I would post there here. If we are just looking at SAT scores the difference between 10 and 20 is 100 points and the difference between 10 and 51 is 200 pints. So if mom and dad can afford to pay for a few sessions that can improve your score by 100-150 it makes a big difference in how people view your district.

Ever occur to you that the kids are NOT doing the work? Maybe the kids in GC , Jericho and Manhasset work harder because their parents instilled that in them. How come a school like GC excels both academically and athletically? Is that money as well? Or is it a work ethic

Thats definitely putting a positive spin on it. Closer to the truth would be mediocre schools, insanely high taxes, cliquey people, and an average at best hospital. Agree on the LIRR, close to ROMO and and lots of canals though.........

No town is the same as they were back in the early 80's when most of us were growing up. Can we agree on that ? And how many of you actually live in the same town you grew up in ? That's what keeps a neiborhood nice.

That's money too...travel lax, private lax training, speed & agility, etc
None of you talk about the kids that are special needs that school districts kick the kids out to other districts so it doesn't effect their academic standardsk

I love how people of privilege always assume those without refuse to work hard and thats why they are in this situation. The districts you mention is a prime example of privilege. One on one SAT tutoring $5-10k. If you play sports speed and agility, shooting or whatever training $100-$300 per month. Travel lax can total almost $10k per year if the whole family is traveling out of state multiple times a year. You know the same kids with a new car as a hs junior. No none of that is not privilege. I thought everyone can afford that nut for just one kkid. What happens when you have 3 or 4 kids.

And i agree with the special needs comment also because another wonderful district Hills has one of the largest special education program. I wonder if Bayshore has the resources to move that many kids into special education so they don't bring their numbers down.

Words like people of privilege is liberal nonsense. Use the right words, rich and poor. Sorry if you don't like it but lacrosse is a sport of the wealthy. Always has been always will be. Look at every roster on the big name D1 schools. All rich kids, oops sorry Hillary, people of privilege.

This is true in most places, though less true on Long Island and in Upstate New [lacrosse].

What's less true, that lacrosse is a sport for the wealthy? GC, Manhaaset, West Islip, and on and on, the wealthy xommunities dominate. Even Massapequa, with a super wealthy south of Merrick is no "blue collar town"
