So I hear there is a ton of interest in the Outlaws at this age group? I think they will get a lot of attention from Express kids that didn't play and if the other team combines it will create overflow to Outlaws. I think we should all be smart and take our kids there.

Thanks, I agree. There, it's settled. Outlaws it is. Promoting tryouts doesn't really help is my opinion. How about list the coaches for each team. This is what I would love for all clubs to do. People follow coaches, it's that simple

No I am not a parent of that club, just shocked because I don't see the ones that don't make it staying. Good news is plenty of options for those kids.

All the Maryland teams beat up on smash all year they need to rebuild.

Yeah, not really. Outlaws is a B+ team. No kid from smash, United, express, igloo or any other A team, town or travel, would leave to go to Outlaws. Unfortunately for the B+ teams, the A teams will get stronger this year and there will be more separation between A and not A but outlaws should dominate the B bracket.

This is the business of winning.There is little separation between the top lines on the top teams. Just comes down which goalie makes a critical save or a field player makes a big play, etc.

And I'm sure you know those kids will leave a place they are happy at for this "dream team" you seem to be part of.

People follow coaches, it's that simple if your kid likes screaming in their face the entire game, smash/united and/or outlaws is a good choice.

Outlaws and TLI can try and create as much attention as they want. They are both glorified B+ teams. Every time they played in a real A tournament, they were beaten up. But that's ok because they do well with the alliance they are in.... Keep avoiding 90+1 tournaments, and beating your chest that you are an A team.

Yes Igloo. Igloo 2022 is in every game they play. They are a FOGO away from being best team in group Lost to Smash at laxfest by 1 goal, and lost every faceoff. Lost NXT finals to Annapolis cause they lost every faceoff. Lost to United too maybe 1 out of 3 at FO Only piece of Yeah sorry, but outlaws were an A team last year, big time interest in them this year. WI'll move up a few notches behind express and 90+1. Great coaching staff is getting all kids to improve.

Team LI plans on fielding a team at every age group. Coach from 2022 age group left to take a paid position with a competitor, he was a great coach but we have a replacement

Agree... there is a lot talent at this age. It will be interesting to see these teams coming out of tryouts. None of the top 3 are taking a step back.

US lacrosee has responded and adopted the new guidelines that they requested go in effect next season. Let's see which clubs adopt it and which don't

And in many cases, the MD kids are the same age or younger. Their schools go by 9/1 cut off which means that with the exception of reclassed kids, roughly one third of their rosters might be born in '03. The rest are spread over 1/04-8/04. That's not an advantage worth using as a crutch. We all know who the clubs are who attract holdbacks, and it isn't more than a handful.

Only one club in MD actually encourages parents to hold their child back and it starts at 6th-7th grade level. Age guidelines and class year teams have some type of holdback. Its not a terrible thing except where it is the norm. So lets be honest

I personally Liked "Smash these United Nutz" better. Elite team is going to be very solid. I think it is made up of half United and half Smash Kids and a couple of new kids. They are going to be strong at every position and I am guessing they will be the team to beat this year and the favorite to win the WSYL. With regards to United or Channy. It depends, if you are one of Channy's favorites and plays than stay with Channy. If you are not one of the top 15 players on Channy's team don't expect to play in tight games. Then I would go to United. There was kids switching teams this year but not as much as I expected. Igloo and Outlaws got better. I don't know about express, but if they lost the big lefty to a Texas team then they took a step back. Looking forward to another great year at this age group. Best of luck to all the players

United is not the same team, they are just keeping the name and that's about it. United will not compete with any of the top clubs as they have done in the past. They are a true B team now. Express A. 91 trying too hard to create that top team. United was all the hype last year. The team fell apart. Both 91 coaches screaming and basically losing it last year during tournaments. They are holding on too tight.

Outlaws are a legit B team, A- maybe. Decent coaching, they pull some good kids from around where they are based. They never compete with the better teams. Here is the issue, and it's not a knock on the outlaws lax program, the parents are so douchey that when they get one big win a year the parents start acting stupid like the team is an A team. It's the most insecure parent organization there is.

We will see. My bet is outlaws wind up in the top 3 on LI this year. Right with 90+1 and express. Igloo right there too. Legacy got better also. Everyone quick to jump on outlaws. Look at what this age group has done the last 2 years. 1 win? What about playing express tough 5-6 times. Smash 2 goal game that outlaws outplayed them. Igloo a 2 goal game. Give credit where credit is due. They are a good team that can compete and will compete with anyone. They have added a few big pieces too.

Mike is a stand up guy and man of his word. Probably the most organized program on LI. Very active program, year round. They play everybody, not just the chosen 10 or 12.

After watching tryouts the last two days I hope that Iglo is willing to make some changes to both the A bad B team to be more competitive . You need to be able to score against the better teams so please put kids out their on the fields that can do so. . Here is hoping they do so because both teams could be pretty good.

No way. Igloo is locked in to keeping the same core kids on A that truly belong on B or on different club. That will never change. That was shown last year when they added a B team but didn't move the appropriate players down to B. It's unfortunate bc that is what's keeping them from being the top team at this grade level.

Before I make a deposit, can I get opinions on Hitmen, True Blue and Recon? Thank you Recon I do not know anything about, Hitmen at this age have a very good coach, they are a solid B team. My son played them once & we know some of the families, all seem to be happy. True Blue had 2 teams at this age last year. My son played their top team twice last year. Not very good. their second team had the Adelphi coach. but check to see if he is going to be at games and practices. During the spring Adelphi is always in the D11 Tournament and early summer he has to recruit. May not be around much.

United was completely dismantled is correct. Only things staying the same are the name and some of the coaches. We know 2 kids who were offered spots on United and to be honest with you they would not make any of the other A teams on Long Island. The team lost a lot of top notch talent and will be lucky to be an A- team this season. Don't understand paying all that money to be on a 2nd team, but to each is own as they say. I've been with them from the start about 5 years ago and between both my boys been to basically every tournament they've done and they've never once played out. We did destroy your 5th grade team with out 6th grade team in a 5th/6th combined bracket. Your coach was upset but knows my son is actually a 5th grader playing on that team, yet he still liked to tell you differently. Oh and that same 6th grade team beat your 7th grade...I try not to get into this stuff but it's pretty funny how wrong some people are.... My son is playing his age this year because 7th grade is stacked. Depending on how they gel - looking at a B++->A range.

Where did you get all this info from? Yes some kids were brought up to the elite team some kids from smash came "down" and weakest players were replaced. How does that translate to being a bad team? They should be able to compete in every game still. And as of right now the only coach is RC the assistant has not been chosen.

We had a fine season w fl$ a few years ago. Respected their philosophy for the younger guys (skills vs winning). Practices / communications weren't great, Lost all respect for Mike W when our son decided to move on. He was nasty and condescending. It validated our son's decision for us. That's a common theme when dealing with Mike. The rest of the management of that organization is much better, but Mike ruins it. My son has got a great deal better playing under Mike's system. Mike is a stand up guy and man of his word. Probably the most organized program on LI. Very active program, year round. They play everybody, not just the chosen 10 or 12. Keep drinking that Kool Aid pal. Spent several years there and moved on. Wankoff is a petty little man. A handful of good coaches there (i.e. Dunne) but Wank himself is a disaster on the sideline. If you enjoy spending your summer with a bunch of incredibly annoying and pretentious Manhasset, CSH and GC parents, you will fit right in at For the Love of Wank.

3- Recon Where would you put Express and Blue Fish in that order? Blue fish 4. Express is in a different league Depends on which express team you are talking about. Their 1st team is in a different league but the 2nd team is right in the mix with Hitmen based on last year. I don't think anyone really knows what their 2nd team is going to be this year. It depends on who is willing to pay top dollar for a 2nd team they can be very good but I think most people will not accept and pay $$$ for a 2nd team. They will find a cheaper alternative which has the A team attached to it even though it's really a B team

Express is in a different league If you’re talking about competition wise it would be: 1)Hitmen 2)Express B 3)Recon 4)True Blue Don’t know anything about Bluefish to new.. Hitmen is also a good well run organization with some very good talent my son has played with them for the past two years and I will tell you the only teams we should lose two this year are the big 3(Igloo, Express & 91) Don’t waste your time with True Blue I've heard nothing but bad reviews about the directors..My son made the better team last year run by SB and I have friends that played on the second team..They give a great speech at tryouts and will tell you what you want to hear but way over promise and way under deliver in my opion it sounds like they are all about the money ( which is fine but dont tell parents your only in it for the kids and that you dont make any money off this..haha!)

I admire the optimism but outlaws are not in the same conversation as express , 91 or Igloo. At least not yet. Good luck though. Parity is good for everyone. Same crap different year.. probably the same guy spewing this against the outlaws. He doesn't give up. Not in the same conversation? Yes Express beat the outlaws every time they played but NEVER was it a blowout. They beat United and lost to Smash by a couple of goals and didn't play Igloo A but beat the other Igloo team thoroughly like they should have. It's time to stop bashing a team because your son didn't make it. The bottom line is that the Outlaws play EVERYBODY and can compete with anybody. They are not a B team. Put them against any of these other programs like legacy, team li, empire, hitmen, etc. and they will destroy them so please don't tell us they are not in the same conversation.

Obviously cost is a big factor, but research the your son's options, call the director, call people on the team, wtc.

That post did not come from GC parent. GC is a class team. Great kids and parents; and yes, a large number of them were on the original Igloo team. GC is good; very good. It was a great win for them, and most of the Igloo parents were upset that Igloo lost (obviously), but enjoyed an exciting game of lax. With that said, igloo is better than GC. Igloo played a horrible game and it still came down to a braveheart. If they play 5 times, igloo wins 4. But on that day, GC won and they deserved it. Again, very good team and a class act.

This is also a WSOL (World Series of Lacrosse) year so teams will consolidate talent on their A teams. WSYL changed age cutoff, so very few MD teams will attend - the only possible challenge. Whatever LI teams decide to go will take the crown (again). It's a long way to go to play your neighbors.
