Bottom line is that the current best teams in Maryland can not compete against best teams on LI when there is an age limit.
No one disputes this, It is a shame, as in years pass MD could compete with age restrictions. No more. Maryland teams don't think it's worth the hassle to kick 3 or 4 kids off the team and have tryouts to replace them for one weak tournament on the other side of the country. That is why NONE of the top 5 Maryland teams are going to Denver. Have fun playing a bunch of scrubs and a couple good LI teams. See you at the Millon tournament for a real National championship. I think it's embarrassing to admit how badly you have to cheat to compete. Changing the roster would show that it's not just 3 or 4 kids. This way you can keep hiding the truth. Hiding the truth' You sound stupid and bitter. Do you not think that every league and tournament has to have a roster check with verified age and grade for each club. These teams all play within the rules of every game they play.Thats why the new age cut off for WSYL prevents the few kids and teams from playing. These teams are not cutting or dropping these kids from the team or recruiting new players or bringing players down like most teams are to make the cut. Please stop with Maryland teams are all cheaters - by the way those top Md teams will be in LI next week and everywhere else this summer LI teams will be. MD teams play down, always have always will! Cannot compete on age and never could. Going back to when MD teams were U based. U13 U15 etc. When playing in grade based tournaments they always played in the younger grade brackets. Now all your best teams are loaded with older kids. No big deal, our kids like playing up it makes them better. The number of MD D1 commits continues to decline and LI and NY hold steady. Don't forget to bring Jr's electric razor, you want him clean shaven so he looks younger, and don't forget his license. You wouldn't want him to get pulled over while driving to the next tourney. Again, Bitterness and stupidity. MD D-1(NY is twice the size) recruits has never been higher and is top in country. Get your facts straight or better yet save your trash talking for your little Johnny. I am sure he loves hearing daddy complain and make excuses when things don't go well.

the physical maturity of igloo's 2021 team players who were recruited to arctic blast will also be clear to everyone as well. let's see if the second time is a charm for igloo's rising 9th graders who played in the world series last year with black ice. maybe those players can be personal tour guides for all boys who will be experiencing the event for the first time and the announcers will have already practiced pronouncing their names. take pictures and bring back souvenirs for the boys who were excluded from this opportunity. keep rationalizing it and maybe you will overcome your moral conscience. my kid earned his spot by working his [lacrosse] off. my moral conscience is just fine, thanks totally agree that it is wrong to exclude players who made the arctic blast team this year. those kids earned their spots, are committed to the team, worked hard, paid, etc. unjustifiable to be alienated from the team and denied the opportunity to play in wsyl. You are asking those kids that made the team to spend all that time and money getting to Denver without the best possible team. Why would they do that? Clearly you fail to understand the concept of team. Let's try another approach. No kid left behind? Now do you get it? Arctic Ice is a team and Igloo chose to drop players from the team so that they could bring older players from Black Ice. Simply, that is wrong. May work for the specific WSYL tournament rules, but it is not right for the boys who were rejected. This is not the military, this is competitive sports. Rejection sucks and I have sympathy for how you and your son are feeling being left out. I have been in both positions. The problem is that if the club does not take the best team then the best players will go to a club that will. You are asking for blind loyalty and in theory I like your way better. Get a nice group of boys together and stay together and have fun and learn some things. But it gets very frustrating for the elite players when they know that with a few changes they could win it all. And it's stupid for a club to not give those kids a serious chance to win with the best players because they cannot afford to lose those kids. Winning draws talent, it's the way it is.

The Millon championship will show who has the best teams. Young guns and wsyl split the best teams this year so now neither is a top tournament. NLF not too bad this weekend, but missing igloo.

I love how the Long Island dads love to whine and complain about Maryland teams cheating because they might have 3 to 5 kids with summer birthdays. But the leagues and tournaments are all grade based (which Long Island clubs went to first) so there is no cheating, the teams are just being fielded to make the best team out of the players that try out within the rules of the leagues and tournaments. Now there is a tournament that is age based and the Long Island teams fielded the best team to win that one tournament, saying they have to pick the best team to be competitive and they are just picking the best kids that try out within the rules. I've got no problem with that, just don't go from being the biggest whiners to the biggest hypocrites. So no more saying the Maryland teams aren't at WSYL because of holdbacks and can't compete without those couple of kids. It's just most Maryland teams chose not to make a special team for one event (which changed the rules after tryouts for most clubs were concluded, if WSYL kept the rules from last year the teams would be eligible) and leave behind a couple of kids. So here's to a summer of no excuses regardless of the tournament. If you think a team is cheating, ask for a roster check (which includes birthdays) rather than making up lies about kids being 2 years older or driving (it's gotten old and it's wrong to make up lies about kids), otherwise just let the kids play the game.

New [lacrosse] actually is 3.3 times the size of Maryland by population. Looking at the two best teams in the country. Maryland Terps are 28% Maryland kids and 20% New [lacrosse] kids Ohio State is 16% Maryland kids and 13% New [lacrosse] kids Maryland had 4 teams in the NCAA tourney New [lacrosse] had 2 teams in the NCAA tourney Looks like MD is doing pretty well with only 1/3 the kids NY has.

New [lacrosse] actually is 3.3 times the size of Maryland by population.
Looking at the two best teams in the country.
Maryland Terps are 28% Maryland kids and 20% New [lacrosse] kids
Ohio State is 16% Maryland kids and 13% New [lacrosse] kids
Maryland had 4 teams in the NCAA tourney
New [lacrosse] had 2 teams in the NCAA tourney
Looks like MD is doing pretty well with only 1/3 the kids NY has.

Population statistics for NY are overwhelmingly high due to NYC - with that five boroughs of NYC, lax a sport is either unavailable or sparingly played. If you want to do a more appropriate population analysis, take the populations of all other NYS counties - IE, exclude the boroughs of NY, ~40% of NYS' popu;ation - and then let us know what that says.

Major drop off this year with both 90+1. It's a shame. They had a good thing going. How so? Last year they had Smash and united - two great teams. They tried to combine them to make a super team, but wound up losIng a lot of kids in the process. So Smash and united became AA and A.
