I read this site now and again because my kid plays 2022 and I like to hear what is going on and what is being said. It seems very 'angry' for reasons I don't understand but there were two observations I would like to make from the Long Island Lax Festival.
The first is parity. A very good United team tied twice in pool play; they are well-coached and the goalie is the best I've seen. Superstars had some very strong / big players and represented very well. Prime Time played extremely strong and is moving in the right direction. Igloo did not lose in pool play but lost by 1 to Smash, which lost by 3 to Mad Lax, which lost by 4 to Igloo. Express was not there, unfortunately. As the kids get bigger and stronger, the talent will continue to improve and ALL teams should benefit.
The second was the officiating. Evidently there were many tournaments on Long Island over the weekend and not enough referees to go around, which really hurt the tournament in my view. Many games got out of hand because no calls were made and several kids had to be carted off the field. That is terrible and needs to change as the game grows. There is no excuse for bad parenting but it is no surprise that tension was high as the games got chippier and there was no discipline. That was the only real issue in an otherwise great weekend with great weather and great teams. Long Island should be very proud of the 2022 Class. There is a ton talent at this age group. These teams are traveling up and down the east coast and winning almost every tournament against MD,PA, MA teams made up of mostly older kids (born in 2003). I for one love the parity at this age and and look forward to when my son's team plays one of the other good teams. Let's stop the name calling and enjoy the quality of lacrosse we are watching because it's going to be over in blink of eye. Let's also stop the chip on the shoulder about the "mostly older kids." You have no idea how many of the kids were born in 2003. And, even the ones that were... it is at most, a four-month difference. Get over yourself. I do know because I talk to the MD Parents who are usually very nice and they tell me that more than 50% and sometime as much as 75% are born in 03. It's not 4 months many of their kids are born mid to late 03 and most of our kids are born mid to late 04. Look at the Size difference and watch them run, i guarantee they are more than a year older than our kids. That being said I am very proud of the LI Boys for basically winning every 2022 tournament. In Maryland if your kid is born Sept 1, 2003 to Aug 31 2004 he is class of 2022. That is the law. They will all be 17 or 18 upon graduation. The majority of states have same rules. If you don't like it, don't enter 2022 tourneys, stick with age based.

Outlaws would destroy those 3 town teams. Sorry this isn't last year. Outlaws can play with all those top teams and have shown it. There is NO WAY Outlaws beat GC34 they are a much better all around team. Sorry but your team still has too many weaknesses. Can GC34 beat United because Outlaws did. people said the same thing before that game too. Wow you guys are gonna hang on that one game forever. We all know United will win that game 8 out of 10 times. You just lost to a B team in Hershey. Go win against some real teams. Maryland rough riders not a B team. They are lower tier AA but moving up, and beat Hawks 2022 in spring league play. So I would say that Hershey was battle of the lower tier A teams

Hanging on to what? United will probably win 8 out of 10. So what. Outlaws will be competitive in every one. That's the whole point. They have been competitive with every top team so far. Express would win 8 out of 10 times against smash,united, and igloo. Does that make them bad teams? No. They're all good including outlaws.

I love reading some of this crap. Smash will have another shot at Express but Outlaws prove more than their a B team. It is ridiculous. They beat United. Lost to Express by a few goals when it seems no one can beat them this year. Lost to Smash by 3. Played a tough championship game losing to the Roughriders by 1 in a championship game but you have the nerve to question whether they are an A team. They are an A team. Yes competition isn't great but there are MANY A TEAMS COMPETING.

Played a tough championship game losing to the Roughriders by 1 in a championship game but you have the nerve to question whether they are an A team. They are an A team. Yes competition isn't great but there are MANY A TEAMS COMPETING. My guess is that Smash & Express beat everyone but each other by 5 or more.

Ward Melville????Westhampton How about the Bay Shore team that lost 2 games the last 2 seasons and won the Koehler tourney back to back! All due respect, GC, WM, Bay Shore all are good teams. But not at the same level as Manhasset, N Port, PW and Smithtown. If you've been around these teams, you know this already. Not saying the rankings are etched in stone, but given the last 2-3 years of results in open competition, the top four are pretty accurate, imho. I'll reiterate that the 2022 class on Long Island has a lot of fun talent to watch. MD too! Good kids, parents and coaches, for the most part. Let's keep it fun for all and clean up the sidelines. #respectthegame
