The younger teams are usually parent coaches.

Don't play on a travel team with Dad's coaching. Please, do yourself a favor find a different team. Most of all, don't play on that team if your son plays the same position!!! No good can come from this for your kid, I don't care how FAIR the coach is.

just accept it or leave it ! most travel programs involve parents coaching , or the parent is good friends with the paid coach , you will not escape this , better off playing for your town team , hire an outside coach or run town team clinis once a week with that team only.
atleast you will be all in it together !
Just a suggestion.

Be careful what you ask for.......
Most parent coaches put more time in w/ the kids then the paid coaches. My son's travel team coach starts them w/ winter ball in January. We had over 25 practices, 11 spring games and 5 summer tournaments. There is equal playing time for everyone and my son is learning while having fun.

The paid coaches will give you 8-10 practices, 4 or 5 tournaments and nothing more. Biggest complaint from my friends is "they don't practice enough"

No problems with parent coaches on my son's 91 team. They were outstanding. I'd sign my son up to play for them again next year right now if given the oppurtunity to do so.

It doesn't matter if the coach has a son on the team or not, it's the indivual that makes a good coach.

heard a rumor that 91 is thinking of dropping the girls programs to concentrate on boys. Anyone else hear this?

If so they should let everyone know as early as possible.

Sorry but I am going to be selfish and not mention the team my son plays for. Tryouts are this fall and I want him to be on that team again.
My point was that the if you find the right parent coach, stay with him. He has more to gain then the paid coach. He will have that extra practice & schedule that extra game because his kid will benefit from that.
