is 4th grade the year to really get my daughter started? I know my boys started earlier with PAL and clinics, but it seems girls are more likely to start later. Any advice on moving ahead with a little lady?

I would get her into your local PAL team ASAP. Rosters already needed to be in to the PAL at this point but most towns will get her on anyway but I wouldn't wait. Also, some of the girls by 4th grade have already had a stick in their hands 4-5 years but it's 4th grade and Im sure she'll catch up just fine. See how that goes and if she's having fun before you worry about travel. Most travel tryouts are starting pretty early so you'll want to start looking around for when tryouts are late August / early September. Yellow Jackets does their 3-5 grade tryouts in early December. Other programs are a bit earlier I believe. But again, let her walk before she runs ;-) No sense spending money on tryouts and travel if she hates the sport.

I keep hearing that the YJ team that played this weekend in the 2024 bracket at Stony Brook was actually a 2025 team. And that they killed it. Any truth to it?

Both girls play 2024 boys bracket. Yes, the YJ 2025 girls did very well on Saturday winning 7 of 8 games in the 2024 bracket.

Too bad it wasn't a 2024 bracket, goalie dad. You played two teams made up mostly of 2nd graders and mostly all others were 3rd graders. one team had 4th graders, but if it helps you justify the massive amounts of money you spend at YJ to think you beat all older kids, good for you. Also, all parents heard you screaming at your kid to "shut up, get on the field and do what you're told"! class act! Most normal parents who heard you wouldn't go near YJ bc of you.

Unfortunately every team has someone like this. They one on our team is so close that if the coach suddenly stopped they would need the jaws of life to pull him out of her a..!

To Goalie Dad, probably best thing to do is de- register and fade back into anonymous land. No doubt you are proud of her and enjoy watching her play, been there and done that but you are irritating the other parents and your daughter will be much better off. Nothing good is coming from your posts plus you have a long journey ahead and there will be many twist and turns in the road. Besides if she becomes the goalie god you hope there will be no need to boast about it, everyone will know who she is.
As far as playing with boys, probably not the brightest thing to do as the boys get older. Boys physically develop much quicker and the last thing you need is pumpkin to take a very hard shot to an unprotected area, she may never want to get back in the cage.

The guy is a freak, it's great your involved, but taking a picture of your daughters butt and posting about it on twitter about it in any way and posting is borderline sick.

From hero to zero, hopefully from your silence you have learned an important lesson. You really should start to let your wife take your kid to all her lax stuff, at least for this season. Because wondering if everyone is talking behind your back will be rough. At least this season it will be.

Nothing "gross" at all about it, relax captain overreaction. The burn out comment was not meant as an attack on a child. It was a warning. Young kids, when pushed too hard, will eventually revolt and not want to play anymore. Hence the burn out. Unfortunately, it happens ALL the time. It can't possibly be the first time you've heard that phrase? Kids need more in their lives than lax. When a kid goes to YJ lax practice over their best friend's birthday party at 8 years old, and the father brags about it???? That's a problem, if you can't see that I can't help you.

Serious question here. My daughter plays on a Nassau County North Shore Club team. We are moving to the South Shore from NS. Both myself and wife work odd hrs and take 'call' shifts. Any respectable 2024 girls clubs with proper training/coaches based in Nassau Cnty South? Need to lighten the load as far as practice travel is concerned. We are solo. No car pool. Thank you in advance.

LI Bengals just had a good weekend, winning at Hofstra in this age group. Southeast Nassau based, practices primarily in Merrick to Massapequa area.

What Long Island clubs did they play at Hofstra and how did they do against them? What LI teams were in their division?

Is there a pecking order for girls '25 teams yet? If anyone could help I'd appreciate. My daughter will start travel next summer and I'm trying to figure out the right fit. I know YJ is already formed but what about Ikon, Eff eLL GEE, Iglue, Epress, Eleveate or other. live on teh nassau suffolk border on teh north shore and not looking to travel all over LI for practice which has me starting to look at elevate and igloo.
