really, really simple - most of the best teams don't attend. Period.

Better stated, a couple teams that could compete don't. Short list.

Even better stated a couple teams that you would think could compete don't go because many are age ineligible. Again have not heard one person come on here and state which tournament has all the best teams from across the country go. Amazing that so many want to put down a US lacrosse run tournament that is actually trying to crown a national champ on an equal playing field.

Shall we argue the age vs. grade USLacrosse guidelines? Because that's been done to death with no agreement.

What is there to argue, the mid atlantic states have players and students that are on average older than their Long Island counterparts giving them an advantage when playing grade based, when that advantage is taken away the excuses start coming in.

Don't kid yourself. We have quite of few of those "older" kids right here on LI. In fact, there are several on the team my daughter plays for. I'm not judging - parents hold back their children for various reasons, but it goes on here too.

Somewhere in another thread this has been very argued. In short: if you start making lacrosse age-based, a la soccer and many other sports, then it screws with the recruiting of those hold-backs, despite the fact that all other sports have figured it out.

US lacrosse is the governing body that we all follow. They make the rules and guidelines. Most all the other tournament are run under the US Lacrosse blanket, and this is the pinnacle tournament. They select and sponsor the the U19 national team and the team USA senior national team. This is the tournament that decides the club national U15 champions, there is no debate. If your club chooses not to be a part of it, too bad for you. And no, its not a recruiting event, its not meant to be, believe me the girls from the winning team really don't need the extra exposure to get recruited anyway.

In all the years I have been driving my daughter up and down the east coast, never have I heard a single complaint from any girls team about players being too old. I have to ask , are the same Yellow Jacket parents complaining about players from Maryland being a few months older than their superstar the same parents bragging how the same superstar should be competing on varsity teams against girls 3 to 4 years older because their superstar is just that great? What it isn't is a true gauge of who has the best team in the country. throw out all the cliches you like it still will not make the U-15 winner the true national champ. Food for thought, even if M&D, Skywalkers, Or Capitol did send the appropriate age girls, there still really really good, as good or better than not just the Jackets, but every team.

Skywalkers have one national championship under their belt, and really should send the 2018 blue team this year because it is a strong age group for the club and they are probably the best team in the nation.

Put your money where your mouth is. U15 Nationals is a REAL championship. Enter your super mid-Atlantic team and show us all how it's done. We are all hoping you do.

Such an ignorant post . It's the closest thing there is to a true national champ , just because some teams elect to not send a team does not change it . My daughters team is something like 9-1 against those teams in the last 2 years so I feel confident once you take the age inappropriate kids off those teams it would be even easier.

It's funny reading the "age appropriate" posts, because in 2013 when TG won all the YJ parents were saying it "wasn't fair" because TG had 2015 girls (age appropriate) on their team. Sorry can't have it both ways

It's like every other sport where a different governing body awards a national championship almost every weekends. This one has the right backing but without ALL the best teams there (1-10) what does it really mean?

The LI clubs use this as part of their marketing and propaganda machine and its usually between TG's and YJ's.

These clubs stick their parents with the bill, take all star teams and often don't play the bottom of the roster.

Parents love boasting at work about how their kid won nationals but college coaches could care less. It is all about the club and parents ego.

Agree, and many of the best club teams who don't go (M&D, Mayland United, TLC, STEPS, Capital) could field age-appropriate teams despite what you say. The age argument is getting really old as an excuse. This tournament lost its luster years ago, but keep drumming on if you want.

The only national championship that matters in Woman's Lacrosse is the NCAA's. Period end of story. Anything else you are just fooling yourself.

Right. Like M&D, Skywalkers, etc would really struggle without the 2 girls that may be 3 months older than the rest. Where would they ever find girls to replace them?

Its funny your lack of reading comprehension. When TG won it the discussion was that they should be considered the best U15 team but not the best 2016 team ,no one said it was unfair.

how can the Capital Cup be the best and biggest recruiting tournament if the Elite YJ don't attend?

Why would she have her teams attend when she makes no money of it.

Do people know that she owns tournaments?

And I would guess there are kick backs from other tournaments or (team quantity discounts)that she directs the YJ's to.

All these tournaments range from $950 - $2,000+. How many YJ teams do they have? Do the math on the fees she collects just for tournaments from the YJ's!!!! And people wonder why there are 6 teams in some age groups

Same argument as U15 , not all the best teams enter the same tournament so it doesn't count.

Wow, that's unbelievable! I didn't know she was getting money from all of those tournaments. So on top of all the registration fees we pay to be YJ she gets all of that cash on top!!! Multiplied by 6 teams per age group...WOW

Of course they are. If she is running to the tournament she is sending all her teams at $2000 a team. At some tournaments they are probably collecting $50,000 just in YJ registration money!

"Some Teams"...that's funny. On the who's who list of lacrosse clubs the vasy majority stay away from this one. Looks like YJ and a depleted TG next year and nobody else.

My daughter is a YJ and this is true. It is a little annoying when we have to travel to Connecticut and play all other YJ teams. We always stand there and ask why we couldn't just do this on long Island. Sorry but it gets annoying.

and yes, it is a big business.

Tournament cost is always extra, CR picks and sends you to tournaments and we pay full price and we play a lot of our own teams and sometimes play up or down so she can fill out the divisions.

She is making way more off my daughter and her team at the tournaments then she does with their summer registration fee

If you are going to Conn, your daughter is on a 3rd,4th,5th team. Your daughter would be better served and have an equivalent if not better experience with another less smaller or more locally based club. Then you would save some money, and most of these programs still travel 1-2 times off the Island. One thing I don't like is the way many lower YJ teams are sold this Elite Status if they put on the Uniform, yet they soon get the message from other parents, coaches and players that only the top teams are Elite. Good luck.

I have a first year player on a second team. I like the coaches, certainly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The talent is all over the place though, a few real good players, others mostly middle of the road and some real fish out of water... A lot of time wasted chasing dropped passes.
