Agree. Too many times the offensive player runs herself into a double/triple team and the officials reward the bad offensive play by calling a foul. I think if you swing stick as a defender you are usually wrong and playing poor defense. But many defenders play good solid defense by moving thier feet and getting good position and refs continue to call fouls on the defense and bail out poor offensive decisions.

The Huntington coach absolutely pulled up a bunch of 7th graders to JV who don't belong there. The conflict of interest is glaring. She skipped over a bunch of 8th grade girls who are great players and took her daughter and her daughter's friends. By the way, she also seems to take only Yellow Jacket players! Disgusting. She should be fired asap.

Anyone elses notice the Ref’s are really calling games tight in regard to defense.. I’ve watched 2 games so far this season and every contact a defender makes with their stick ( even if its straight up) is called a push/cross check and every stick check is called either a slash or across the body.. it almost impossible to play defense

The worst is the lack of a charge call. How many players lower their shoulder and plow through a double triple team and the ref hangs the flag out because it looks like the defender is pushing.

Same thing Happened again this year at ESM.

You will see if the Huntington teams did the right thing after the first couple of games. Same thing happens in all schools.. try living in Northport....

They will be fine. Phenomenal goalie, exceptionally quick offense and quality coaching. Should be in County finals again.

Why is it that everyone wants to slam teams like ESM and Mt Sinai. They are good year in and out for a reason.
ESM looked good out of the box against a Miller Place team that has talent but terrible coaching.

There are no 8th graders on ESM varsity

I stand corrected but those 8th graders were on the team as 7th graders so no new 8th graders came up. I misinterpreted the previous post regarding 10th graders being cut. Everyone who tried out was given a spot on a team whether varsity or JV. Bayport and Sayville will be tough for ESM with or without those 8th graders. In fact, the whole B and C classes are tough this year. There are no easy games.

Five 7th graders were brought up to JV at ESM three are Top Guns and two are Yellow Jackets. It's not always some huge conspiracy and club affiliation - sure, if you look for a reason you will find it.

One has to wonder how many of these LI 7th graders actually deserve to
play up on JV / Varsity. I think most of these kids parents are delusional.

The girls brought up are great players in there age group-same thing done last year - its starting to be a pattern at ESM-its a small school so not that unusual - the talent pool is not that large and bringing the younger kids up early gives them more practice and game time as opposed to MS lax which is a joke. By 9th and 10th grade there are only a handful of girls that still play -most get disgusted and quit because of politics and favortism

Or sometimes they just find other interests. Many times it's the parents that seem to have the bigger issues and they project their own opinions on to their children. I know there are situations where kids seem to get a raw deal, but to say that many quit because of politics and disgust I think is a bit of an exaggeration. High school has so much to offer besides lacrosse. Some of my children's peers have left lacrosse for theatre, track, softball. Just because we as parents put a stick in their hand when they were kids doesn't mean they're going to stick with it. Missing family weddings, christenings, proms for lax games or a tryout is a whole other issue but I digress...

ESM may be a small school but they have multiple teams in each age group in SCGL and other leagues. Think about that, some age groups have 30-40 or more kids playing. Now add the fact that by the time they get to HS they are drawing players from 7-12th grade. Maybe 5 or 6 players from each age group will be playing through varsity. Reduction of 30-40 kids to 5-6 leaves a bitter nasty pill to swallow. That's what we are seeing here on these threads. Cut throat environment, don't envy ESM.

Don't know what the Hop edited (obviously) but me thinks the post sounds like Islip sour grapes? The funny thing (without being at the game) is that it looks like Huntington called the dogs off in the 2nd half only scoring 2 goals. If it is Islip sour grapes, take a look at last years results...Islip put up over 20 goals three times last year and they scored 19 twice with the O sisters padding their stats tremendously in those games. You also can't compare Islip and HB...HB is a new program and Islip was in the playoffs last year. Take your lose and move on...you are not the only playoff team from last year that took a beating today..take a look at the ESM game!

Could not agree more , how is it a team that looses its goalie and its best offensive player is favored over a team that beat them last time they played and has gotten better. BBP by 5.
