No word yet on 91 Boys 2022 tryout results.....Have to wonder if there will be any changes at all.

Most of Smash players were not at tryout camp so I think there will be very few changes. Who knows about 2nd team....

My son has tried out for a few teams so far and it seems that there is not that many kids at these tryouts! Example Igloo and 9D1. Not a very big turn out? Are parents tired of paying outrageous prices for their child to play lacrosse or is it the fact that there are too many travel teams and the talent is watered down???

There is NO need to pay crazy prices to have your son get better year round. I see a few new programs with lower prices and great coaching. Find coaches, not names! Find coaches that do this for a living. Coaches that are teachers, varsity coaches, JV coaches and coaches from good HS or college programs.
I would also like to check out the programs that say "we wont travel" I just went through this with my older guy and I am not doing it with my younger one!

One thing I will say is that the 2022 tourney schedule is solid. They have Adrenaline and NLF on there. Adrenaline has Black Card usually that same weekend,which only your club or HS coach can get you the invite. It’s the reason a lot folks choose, especially at this age, play with certain clubs.

ENOUGH Rebels talk ! They are nothing more than a re-branded Outlaws minus PB. They will be a B+ team again and nothing else is gonna change !

Everyone better listen to this guy. He put ENOUGH in big bold letters. Be very afraid. What are people supposed to talk about? I find it refreshing a new club is getting a push. Someone different than express and 91(notice I didn’t say igloo, crisis mode over there). If your son doesn’t play there why do you care? No harm in a little publicity. And please don’t type in big bold letters anymore. Frightening.

Maybe or maybe not, but should at least take a look. Who cares if there a B+ team. If they have excellent coaching and a good program to develop the players then it will be worth it. They are already going out of their way to try to please parents and the boys trying out. That may not be something tremendously huge but at least it shows they're making an effort on their part.

The number 1 frustration in all of youth sports is communication. Just communicate on a broad and person to person level and people will feel good. I wish I had nickel for everyone who has every sent an email and got no answer.

The other B team has tryouts this evening at the Sachem fields. Dynamic Sports Team United.

Son was at East Coast Elite last night. Like what they are saying. Solid 2022 group with looked like 45-50 kids trying out. The fields looked full to me. This program should take off. We left a north shore program (think under same roof).They have very good coaching at all levels. Got the rundown on Ducks. 2 coaches left to start another program. Main guys stayed and rebranded it into East Coast Elite.
Prices are very fair and they train over winter more than everyone else with trainers. We giving it a shot.

Thats why you need guys running and coaching these programs that have history of winning be it at varsity level or from good programs. do your homework

Its obvious your already drinking the Rebels Koolaid, so lets talk educated. The head coach is a 21 year old kid that played in a D3 college, the assistant coach is a nobody that played in a school that nobody knows of, and the Defense coach that is actually a solid coach. So please do not come on here touting the Rebels as if they are the next coming of Christ !

Honestly, why bother? If Chan has not asked you son to play for his team, his won’t be asked because of tryouts.

You will be then placed on one of 2 or 3 other teams with no rhythm or reason. Zero cuts! At least Rebels, T91, United limited the number of teams. Express has no cuts. Now there will be 2 kids on your son’s team who can’t catch and throw.

What info has Express offered? Pricing? Coaches? What is offered in exchange for your hard earned $? Tourneys?

The head coach played at a D2 school, and is a very well put together young man who runs the events for Blatant while he was in college. He also had some career being a multi all american and top 20 in D2 history for scoring.

Total money grab the whole darn program! Last year the put out 4 teams at the 2022 level. 3 of the 4 were not even competitive at all! I'm saying this from the perspective of me paying to watch my kid lose nearly every game. My kid did not get better that is what make me angry. Chan only cares about 1 team and that's his team. All the other 3 were really pretty bad!

I was there so i'm speaking from what I saw. 50-65 kids and I will say the talent level was very good. Typical tryout formula, ground ball drill, then on anther part was 3 on 2 drills, then they switched it up a bit.

Nobody said it was the second coming. I said the organization is hiring some of he best coaches and trainers... that is a fact. I am not ripping any other org.. you seem to have a grudge for some reason.

Speak for yourself. Great experience on the Schwalje team last year. Schwalje and CoachMor are a great coaching duo. And Coach CoachMor was just named the new head varsity coach at Kellenberg and Coach Schwalje, now at NYIT, are the best you can get. Bash all you want, but all it means is you weren’t part of the team.

Who cares? They are done on the lacrosse scene!

I could never understand Express. 2022’s had 4 teams with a total of over 100 players. $380,000!!!!!!’ Yet zero effort to create a true 2 nd team that could compete. No effort to keep the coaches and players together for a few seasons so they can become a team. Even from a selfish Express point of view....... throw some bones the players and attempt to keep parents happy with communication so that next season they could make another $380,000 + tuition hike) with 4 teams!

Great experience? You spent thousands of dollars for them to lie to you saying it was an A team. Then you enter in tournaments in the B division and still lose. If that is what you consider a great experience then go for it. I understand wins and loses mean nothing, but when the thieves promise one thing and deliver another that is where the real issue comes in!

So everyone knows..... Coach Schwalje was a no show name, no D coach and a sub .500 record...... all for $3,800.

I don't understand what all the anger toward the Rebels is about. If some people are thrilled by them for whatever reason, Ah Salute God Bless. It has no bearing on anyone else. Why attack others for being impressed by what they're seeing from the Rebels so far? Some agenda maybe? In recent years the top programs have shown complete indifference toward non-AA players and the parents. You cant blame people for looking elsewhere for their son's development. Like I said, what the heck do you care if someone else is praising the Rebels program? Competition for business is a good thing and will hopefully bring about better programs all around.

Maybe it is fueled by a feeling worthlessness and some sort personal inadequacy? It’s like the term “money grab” these are for profit businesses with lotsa competition. If I let them grab my money, that’s my business. If I don’t do the research and ask questions to the point that I am comfortable, that’s on me, not the club.

Maybe this will wake up the big clubs.....I have recieved more feed back from Rebels with one tryout from 5 years with the big club.

LOVE the competition - guys like Chanicheck and partners are a dying breed - not "dead" but dying. They grabbed easy money for a long time, but now they have to actually compete, and that's a total different environment than the Express monopoly that have had for years.

For loyal Express folks, you should be thankful, because these guys will now be forced to offer a better product, not the "bait and switch" kind that infuriates any semi-coherent human being/consumer

United Coach Marksberry was not a D2 player, he was a D3 player. Ithaca College is Div III. Dingleberry and his crew get on this site and try to promote his team. He promised parents he would not take more than 23 kids last year, but kept adding kids until he had 30. Kept adding kids throughout the year. He even added two kids after the first summer tournament. He will do the same this year.

The team had really good players, but when you add 8 extra kids, the team could not gel. Anyone who showed up to practices throughout the year to "Try Out" was added. He took everyone. Now he is thinking of making 2 teams. Total money grab. The team lost to two school teams, beaten at Tristar in AA (lost all games except 1 consolation game), beaten at NLF in the lowest B bracket. All because of bad coaching.

The coach lies and tells you what you want to hear. There were 60 kids at the tryout because he held tryouts for 2022 and 2027. Run from this team.

I don’t think anybody remembers or took economics. Rising prices and rising competition means an unsustainable model. It was fine during the travel boom of the last 5-7 years, but now the numbers are leveling out and competition is growing in the form of new clubs and town travel programs

4 other coaches are not with either organization

As for 2022 with East Coast Elite lacrosse, they only list fir coaching

Thats not much of a coaching staff. Basically only a head coach.
And your paying $2500. Not cheap for limited staff.

Jealous of what? My kid can get on any B team he wants, the question always boils down to what make you happy. If going into a season with an inexperienced head coach and an assistant coach with no creds that's your business. I personally will spend my money elsewhere

OK your entitled to your opinion. If your kid played for him you would not say those things. Yes he added more kids than we the parents wanted but as far as his coaching ability you are dead wrong the man know lacrosse! Your kid will be held accountable and will get corrected if he makes mistakes but he will get better because of it, and that what this is all about.

Be lucky to get on either team... both teams have exceptional dedicated coaches and the organization treats them the same - equally as important... no guest players, no hold backs, no 35 team member rosters..... okay there are a few crazy parents but doesn't every org?

Anyone know anything about the LI Knights program out of Kings Park?

Not bashing here just saying they are a B team no two ways about it. They are comprised of the Smithtown kids aren't on the A or AA teams. From what I hear they have great coaching and a good group of kids. If your not looking to compete in the top tournaments they will be a good choice.

If Dingleberry knows lacrosse, he kept it to himself. United didn't win a single tournament. It was not because of the kids, it was Marksberry's coaching.

No one in their right mind should be choosing a club based on what their bling package looks like. Unless of course you're driving a Chrysler 300 with after market rims, then it all makes sense.

I agree about the package. That you get a bathing suit and socks and extra outfits shouldnt impress that much. Although including helmet and gloves, since teams seem to no longer be including that which does cost extra, is a nice perk.

But mostly what impresses is the open communication, and training model. In the end that is what really sells Rebels. You just dont see it anywhere else.

Nearly all the good kids left for other teams from the Green team so they needed to try something. I heard they will barely have enough to field one team. Sounds like once the old coach left the program left with him.

I assume you had a kid on the team? So did I and it wasn't the coach it was the lack of quality players! 9D1 picked his team based on who kisses who's A$$ not on talent. Now he can pick his own kids and there will be no excuses!

Was at United tryouts and there were a ton of Empire helmets so what does that tell you?

Giving people all the info is very useful, but having a coach with any experience or having the same team as Outlaws Select last year is not gonna help you win. I will say its gotta be better than having PB yelling on the sidelines meanwhile having no clue what he's talking about.

Rooney is heck of a player and was NYIT assistant last year
Messina coached at Farmingdale and now varsity assistant at sayville
Dollar has been coaching varsity at sayville very successfully for years , they won a couple Championships and are right there every year
Biondilo or Joe B is varsity assistant at one of the schemes
Rimmer is excellent coach and been coaching since he left dowling years ago
Meehan is excellent coach and new head coach at bayport
The young Pickel is at stonybrook and makes for a great assistant
Sirico graduated from Loyola were he had great career, he may be out 2 years now

They also list 2 more varsity head coaches from Nassau county for their 2025 team

I've been around lax long enough to spot a coach and a successful one.

Their Top team aka Rebel are good but Zummmmmo puts them in tournament where they are way over their head. You can probably count the number of wins on one hand. The 2nd team is garbage, poor coaching and maybe 5 talented kids and 15 kids that can barely throw and catch.Me personally I would stay away.

Lets put it this way. Chan approached one of our kids about playing for Express after we played them in a game. I personally like Chan but that was a classless move. So the moral is there is always room on any travel team as long as your kid is very talented

9th grade and your son is new to this? People will knock it because they always do. But Express has a team for every ability. If he is new to the sport, Express O’Reilly is a team that he will get great development and coaching. Tryouts are tonight and Wednesday

They were never on GC34 to begin with...

My son is 8th grade and is a soccer player who played some lacrosse but was never that serious. For some reason playing middle school lit a lax fire in him so I took him to tryouts this summer for 1st time. He tried out for 3 teams and made 2. My advice is to just bring him to as many tryouts as possible. Obviously don't register for all right away because he might make the 1st one so you don't want to waste your money. Eventually if he has any skills at all he will make a team. Seems to me like younger coaches look for kids with top skills now where older coaches who have been around youth sports for a while are willing to take a chance if they see a great athlete they can build into a player. As a parent preach confidence to the kid especially if they have a bad tryout at first or feel overmatched if they tryout for a team with a lot of really good players. At the end of the day all these programs need the money so there will be a team for him.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! I don’t care what anyone says, at this age, every other behind Chan’s team is an after thought! You’ll be sold a bill of goods, put faith that they are being men of their word but nonetheless, they aren’t! Don’t be fooled! Chan cares aboutHIS one team, even then he’s adding/recruiting new kids weekly! He’ll take your money and tell you whatever you want hear! IMO

Bottom line, look for someone who is transparent, open and honest. Be comfortable with the coach and more importantly make sure your kid wants to be three! I don’t care what anyone here says, at this age(hs), if your kid is good, he’ll be seen, no matter where he plays! Let the kid have fun and if he he’s talented enough for the next level, he’ll make it! No one organization had the lock on recruiting and college coaches!

So which clubs do you think on LI get the most kids in the best showcases like Maverick and Black Card? You know the answer. I do agree about fun, but you are also spending a lot of money and it's not a simple decision. And, yes communication and being transparent is important.

He is 100% coaching a team at this age. If you email them and ask they will tell you the same.

Rebels team was likely selected before kids showed up today and yesterday! Both days, 2-3 attack, over a dozen long poles! Complete joke after all of the “transparency and calls! With the kids at tryouts between today and yesterday, no way they would be able to pick a team based on the players there. SMH

Couldn't make it there today, loads of players there on Tuesday, not sure what you are talking about.

Be honest man, less than 50 kids for 2022, 15 poles! Stop the BS! Today was about 23-25 kids and again, about 15 long poles! No way they were building a team from the kids there! Today there was literally 2 middies, plenty of attacks and poles! At one point during the scrimmage, a pole was given a shortie to play with! SMH!

I think United could be one of the better teams in this age group. I was at both tryouts and walked away very impressed by level of play and the coaching staff he has!

Whether you like JM or not, he can flat out coach. Big turnout at both Tryouts and lots of talent. Some of his old players returning, this team will be competitive like his old United teams.

I wonder if they will be playing fall tournaments in Pa and Jersey to avoid competition. That was a past MO.

JM is a very good talker/practice coach. Come game time, he gets lost in the game and is not so good.

That obviously was a silly statement. They went to Jersey and PA and lost some games so obviously the competition is there too not just Long Island. Don't stir the pot no one is biting. The team will be very good and we will see what happens a year from now.

Let me restate. This fall. Historically it has been the MO for the team avoid competition in the fall. Not stirring anything.

Enough with the JM/United talk. He's so full of crap it's insane. Put together the old team, will be a downgrade from last years group.

The rebels already locked up some good players - It'll be a decent team

Actually, the MO was that other than the ones that 9D1 ran, Smash got to play the tourneys they wanted and United was discouraged from playing in the same ones because the organization didn't want the parents on their two teams talking smack about each other. Then they started going to the same tourneys and JM won a few times and all heck broke loose.

Its completely clear. And was stated in email reminding everyone about pretryouts. It said some spots would be filled from that pretryout.
So if exceptional kids were at that pretryout, then they did get an early offer. While others needed to be seen more at the regular tryouts.

And just like any other team, if some people cant make the tryouts, they tryout privately and may get an offer.

And after this weeks tryouts kids will be selected for spots on the team. As stated in the email.
But there still is a final tryout date on Aug 19, for any remaining spots.

And Rebels has had an open line of communication. They have been easy to contact to get any questions answered. A positive change from other clubs.

The first Igloo team hasn’t won a tounament in two years. The second team has more potential.

So where do go play? None below are top tier, but good lax

I say keep your money and move on. If your not on the top team your wasting your money. None of them will get your kid looked at for college.

Igloo aspen is way better than any team listed there. They are closer to AA than A.

What about Rebels? Saw their tryout and was thoroughly impressed. Well run, organized, great talent. Definitely one to watch.

I have no skin in the game so here is my opinion from what I saw at the tryout. My kid was only at the first tryout but the talent level was off the charts. But as we all know he is probably keeping most of his kids from last year and picking up only a few new kids.

Marksberry stinks as a coach. He did not win a single tournament last year. All heck didn't break loose. He won a few individual games, but won no tournaments. It wasn't the kids, they were pretty good, it was the coaching. Dingleberry and his United team did not win a single tournament and lost to two school teams. He kept chasing Smash and the other AA teams all season, but no one wants to waste their time playing him anymore. He and his team tells people that others are scared of them.

United and Smash played in LI Laxfest at Farmingdale beginning of summer, 2018. Both teams made it to the Championship. Smash offered co-championship to United so the teams could both walk away as winners and United could at least say they won one tournament. United insisted on playing the championship game and actually thought they were going to win! United competed for the first 3 minutes, but Smash destroyed United 11-3. It was a tournament run by 91, so 91 posted a score of 9-3 so United would not look so bad. Dingleberry still runs around and spreads rumors that 91 did not support them. That's why he is a dingleberry - he is small, annoying, not dangeous but keeps hanging in there and won't go away.

Wow - Why are you so Mad at JM? What did he do that is so different than any other Club Coach? Not play kids during tournaments? Add more kids during the season? take kids from TX? This is competitive Club Lacrosse, that's what all the top teams do. Is it right, no but JM is no different then all the big clubs.

With regards to his coaching - before the formation of the 91 WSYL Super team, his United teams were one of the top teams on LI beating Express, Igloo and winning more tournaments then Smash, without having the the top players.

I don't know how United will be this year but I am hoping they are competitive. It's good for LI Lacrosse to have more competitive teams.

If that is the case then shame on him ! I was at the tryouts and will say there was enough talent to run with nearly any team on Long Island! i get being loyal to some but at what expense? You could pick a new team with all great players and actually be competitive but I guess not.

If you are looking for a well trained team where your son will have fun, get better, and not cost you thousands, Viper is a good place to play. College coaches are not looking at 2022's for another 2 years. Let your son develop and have fun for now.

So on top of all of your postings trashing Marksberry you now feel it's necessary to trash and name call the parents/players that have decided to join United? If you have such a huge problem with Marksberry (it's obvious you do) than why don't you say it to his face instead of hiding behind a keyboard as an anonymous person? In addition to that why do you care at all since it's very clear you don't like the guy. Did he steal some players from your team or cut someone you know? I was at that game against Smash, United played them tough and were actually winning up until almost half time. Approximately 18-19 minutes into the game. Check the video. I have. Yes they were stomped this past year by some AA teams, but truth be told it had very little to do with Marksberry. Much of it was due to simple mistakes by the team in general (passing, catching, positioning, etc). Their main problem was consistency. They played some games at a level which would compete with ANY AA team and then there were games where many mistakes were made and they were beaten. I doubt you were there watching them throughout this past season, yet you believe you are an authority on the team. I don't know a lot about JM, but I watched him throughout the season challenge the boys, build up their confidence and have outstanding practices. Yes he made mistakes and could have done some things differently. No doubt. He's no different than most of the coaches out there on top clubs. They all have egos to some degree. Having a healthy ego is a necessity if you want to coach a successful team. Im not saying he is some amazing coach (he isn't), but to say he is a poor coach and doesn't know what he is doing is WAY off. Oh and by the way, I never heard him say other teams were scared of United. What he did say to the boys is that many of the other top clubs do not feel United is good enough to even be on the same field as them. He stressed to them that they were excellent players and can play with any team out there. Any good coach would do the same. We all know many of the top teams as well as some of their parents have a very pretentious attitude. I find this to be hilarious especially coming from the parents who don't even play. To those parents, it's just lax folks. Settle down. You're no better than anyone else. People can be ridiculous.
So with all due respect keep your anger toward JM out of your opinion because it's blatantly obvious your issue with him is a personal one. My son got the invite 5 minutes after tryouts just like 18 other kids. The tryiut was just a formality. This people is the problem with youth lacrosse. Teams are organized before tryouts even begin and they charge a 100 for tryout.

Don’t bother asking. We went through this last year and people were convinced Their team was B, etc. And it just ended up being more confusing. So just contact them and ask. It takes just as much time to text or email as it does to ask on here. And get out all questions. roster size, what’s extra, etc.

They make calls for anyone that didn't make the team. Got one today, very nice touch. At least paying the money an org can give an honest evaluation over the phone.

And its not organized ahead. My kid was not known by Rebels and got an early offer once they saw him at a tryout. They are making offers early if they see standout kids or kids who are a good fit. Which is what they stated.

I question whether your even a parent with a kid who got an offer.
Sounds more like your someone trying to bad mouth the organization and has no clue.

Either way, you should not accept. Noone wants a parent like you coming in with such negative views.

I see many posts going back and forth about Marksberry and United. Sadly, they are very true. He misleads parents all the time and has a bunch of drinking buddies on the team who support him endlessly. The saddest part is that he does not hesitate to take it out on your kids playing time if you confront him.

Yet Chan is the money hungry bad guy??? At least I know what he’s about! If it’s true the team was picked “pre tryout”, that’s pretty scummy! Tell people we have a “few/couple” spots and are only trying out for these positions, team is set! Don’t take peoples money, and get kids excited for hr chance to make a team! That person is clearly just trying to disparage the club.
Do you really think they personally know 18 others who got offers for the team and knew what time all of them got called?
They are not even smart enough when making up stories to think out whats feasible before writing it.

Rebels has been very straightforward. And people on other teams feel threataned by the fact that they are changing the way parents, directors, and coaches interact. And they see players gravitating to this new organization.

And there is still one more tryout, and I know they have not filled all slots because they want to see what talent is at that tryout.

If you ask they are very willing to tell you anything you specifically want to know.

Every person at tryouts has had equal chances to make Rebels. In the end the best kids are selected. And they evaluate all the kids, and parents get a call to be advised of their childs evaluation whether they made it or not.

Didn’t we hear all this about express last season? Great coaches. Above average talent. When are people going to learn their lessons. Besides the top team,which will carry 35 players, there is no effort put into the other teams. I witnessed express second team last year play one of the lower AA teams on LI. That didn’t cross midfield until the end of the game. Another question, how many kids from the other express teams went to showcases? Answer is 0. They only care about AA team.

Schwalje was the better of the two coaches, but when the spring came, he was no where to be found. Chuck’s team was a disaster with OReilly’s team doing the best out of the three. My money is on the Pomps/Gres Team forn the better coaching. Any kid going to Chaminade would benefit from this duo. Stop with the AA, A and B. There have been plenty of B teams beat the so-called A teams. Enjoy the coaching Pomps/Gres boys!

Some coaches lie about roster size during tryouts and beginning of the season. Those coaches quickly develop that reputation. If a coach has that reputation, don't ignore it because they don't change.

Still talk about that game against Smash where United lost 12-3 but you argue how you were in the game! What a joke.

Erase the video, stop drinking with the parents, and enter your United team in the B bracket so you can start to win and give some confidence to those poor boys whose parents blindly follow you!

Those of us who went through the tryouts and made it know the team was not prepicked.
Clearly you are upset that people have left your team and preferred another.
The only thung thats obvious is your frantic need to manufacture reaaobsin your mind that your team is having difficulties mantaining players.
Instead look at what you may be doing wrong and fix it.

This is all about playing time. If you join a roster of more than 24 expect limited to no playing time. A couple of man ups or man downs and that’s it for bottom lines.

All clubs charge for tryouts. At least Rebels actually follows up after tryouts with every parent with an evaluation. Pretty awesome if you ask me. And they are willing to talk and answer all our questions before, during, and after tryouts.
Getting nothing from a lot of other clubs but a posted roster, coaches who avoid parents questions, and clubs that feel we should be grateful our kid is on their team.
Its about time that a team was finally developed that listens to what parents want.

I agree that he is full of it. At the parents meeting after the tryout he specifically said each person would get a phone call with an analysis of what your kids strength and weaknesses were. I know I did NOT get that call, nor did anyone else I know. He definitely tells you what you want to hear. I don't know anything about his coaching or why ex parents hate him but his immediate lack of contact says i'm glad we aren't on that team.

When and if thus rebel team starts up we will see how many outlaw players there are on the team. I’m going to say about 75 to 80 percent. Did they communicate that with the parents they called? Teams like the hitmen and igloo are very transparent , they do things the right way.

Your son got the call 5 minutes before the Rebels were formed. The coaches from the outlaws went over the roster at the bar before they decided to leave the outlaws.

Price for express is not lower . Express went up , 91 went up a lot more though.

Are you really talking about Smash-United from this past year (2017-2018)? That was after SL and 9D1 completely dismantled United and brought them back as a second team.

Not a former Smash or United player or parent, but before the "super team" experiment, United was as good as Smash (some would say even better based on the few times that they actually had to play head to head). JM was allowed to build his own team and they were one of the top 2022 teams anywhere. Then Manhasset 32 imploded (which stopped Chan from losing to town teams and helped build the current Express juggernaut) and 91 Blaze didn't follow up with a back to back title at the World Series. I'm sure that the 9D1 owners saw that the best way to preserve the brand was to make sure that the "best 20" players in the organization were all on one team (ignore that SL didn't like many of JM's players) so that they could win the World Series every year.

But that seventh grade 91AA "super team" didn't gel that year and Express and Igloo between them won all of the major tournaments. Then one or two major additions ("Junior"), and after hiding most of the fall and spring season, Smash finally showed what it could to this summer (especially when none of their players had conflict with Crush's tournament schedule).

I get it - for some reason, you hate JM -- and it's probably deserved. But honestly, a true second team playing against a first team at this age? I'm surprised it was that close.

I don't hate him, not my comment, but in 6th grade (3 yrs ago), United beat Smash with an entirely different United team. JM and his United team never beat Smash (or Igloo AA/Chan AA) before or after again. Anyone can beat anyone else on any given Sunday. Even Al Bundy moved on, so should JM and his followers.

Let it go. I know people that have played for him. And like every coach people love or hate him. We get it. Though, the people that like him, talk about him like he walks on water and those that hate, well just read the posts. Please give it rest. So exhausting. 3 teams and should be really good based on what was at tryouts. However, they had four full teams scrimmaging and made three teams. That concerns me roster wise. Don’t need 8 attackmen and 10 middies.

I was at that game. I don't know why so many United fans talk about one game where they almost won. That is just sad. It wasn't close. I don't pay $100+ for Nextpro.com, but was texting my wife the score. Looking back at the texts, United shot up 2-0, then 2-1, next text was 3-3, then United never scored again and I stopped texting. Game ended 12-3 with Smash beating United. United definitely surprised everyone for the first few minutes, but Spallina made adjustments and easily won from there. United hardly even gained control of the ball offensively for more than a few minutes after their first 3 goals. JM made no adjustments, United struggled at face-offs, couldn't win hardly any GBs and many kids didn't play.

At the end of the season, after losing in the B bracket at NLF, JM gave a nice speech at NLF where at some point, he said the kids don't know how to win and he does not know why they will not play hard for him. That was difficult to listen to.

JM stayed at the Sands Casino the night before, was out drinking/gambling late, showed up and ran onto the field 15 min into the game the next morning. He texted parents 5 min before the game claiming the valet lost his keys. If the valet lost his key, why was he texting parents 5 minutes before the game instead of 1 hr before the game when the kids are expected to show up? He was late and yet he expected the boys to win it for him? It is up to the coach to lead by example, make adjustments, figure out how to win, get play time for most kids and enter appropriate tournaments so kids can play and truly win a few and lose few. United didn't win any tournaments all season. I am not hating on him, these are the areas he needs to work on.

Why do parents stay? Most can't go back to Empire (various reasons) and there are no viable B teams in Mid/East Suffolk county. The boys on the team are also good kids and good friends, so the kids want to play, not so much for JM, but with each other. The parents, for the most part, also get along. When your son tells you he wants to play with his friends, what else can you do except be quiet, pay the money and hope JM learns and makes some changes.

That will never happen. JM took most of his old mediocre team added a few new pieces, and wants people to believe that for 3700 per year that he will get your child to the next level. LOL

I wonder has any of you that has had an issue with United confronted the United coaches? Let it go... all that matters now is an outlined recruiting plan for the next two years? Can my kid into Black Card or Maverick (for you newbies Maverick invites are dine by the fall)? Are we going to the Philly fall showcase as team? Can you write recommendations for the Fall Philly individual showcase and other elite showcases. What is your relationships at the college level? Are we playing in the UA main event or Naptown? And we will be competitive, no coach watches a team losing by 10 goals, how we will get exposure?

Right, accept it and let it go or find a new team. Just ask yourself if you want this guy at the helm of the ship your son is sailing on for the next couple of years.

Exactly - Spallina JR not SR made adjustments, SR was at Bandits Game. Kid is some player and has an incredible LAX IQ. I don't know who would have won had he not been there. SL had no Idea what to do and I hear from the parents that if SR & JR weren't part of the team they would be leaving. SL on his own doesn't teach anything and his practices are nothing more than PAL Practices. Everybody knows Smash is an average team with out JR. Look what happened in MD with with out him, they were destroyed and I heard from one of the parents that it was even worse than the score. "Kids had no idea what to do without JR". Before this year they haven't won a tournament in 2 years with SL as the coach. Smash is get the ball to JR and occupy your guy so he can go 1 on 1. JR is awesome but why stay on this team if your sole job is to get him the ball and occupy? As as for college's, you think because you kid play's for 91 or Express he is going D1. SL couldn't even get his kid, who is a good player, recruited.

So where do you go? Express? LOL? Unless you are one of 5 kids you are not allowed to shoot. Also the roster fluctuates week to week with guest players. You think 24 is a big roster haw about 30+. Did you ever see Chan on the sideline he is always happy and smiling, even when they are losing. You know why, he knows that this is all a big joke and he is making money hand over fist. He knows only a few of his kids are d1 recruits, college coach's today are looking for great athletes that are LAX Players. Believe me they would rather take a 6'3" athlete Lax player from FLA than a 5'10" star from LI.

Igloo has seen better days. Team is well coach but just to small. unless they get bigger players will be exposed and run over by the better teams. Also relies on just a few kids on Offense.

Rebels/Outlaws - decent players but horrible coaching. Needs to get a real coach then a Kid. Head coach graduated in 2014 from HS. Good Luck with that.

Well you are correct about that Smash game. I would not have brought it up if it had not been mentioned by another individual. I just meant to say they did well early on and showed signs of really playing at a higher level. Of course they were stomped for the remainder of the game. In regard to JM I try not to think about it too much, but it is difficult. Otherwise it can really aggravate you especially considering the cost of it all. You are correct in regard to the things he said to the boys. Not good at all. That kind of talk is divisive as opposed to uniting the boys. My posts were not meant to praise him, but the boys. I agree the boys play for one another and moving to another team doesn't seem to provide many good options.

I couldn't agree more. After losing at NLF, Marksberry's speech was condescending at best. Very hurtful to hear as parents. In the second to last tournament, Hills vs Autism, Marksberry walked off the field in anger and left the tournament once United started losing to Harborfields. The Assistants had to finish the tournament and United lost their next game to Hills. Parents were surprised Marksberry just left. The boys deserve a lot of praise. They always play for each other and still try to please him. Parents have to teach the boys not to take what he says too seriously. There are not a lot of options.

Why is this guy still coaching United, let alone any team. So it's okay for JM to out right lie to the parents, miss the beginning of the game and more than likely hung over when he arrived (still buzzed from the night before)? On top of that, walked off the field during Hills v. Autism game which he is paid to coach. Finally, after the last tournament giving a condescending speech at best to the team. JM may in fact be a great guy, but clearly he isn't cut out to coach. Parents, wake up, you're throwing your hard earned money at this guy and allow him to spit in your face. Your children should be your pride and joy. If the boys want to remain together as a team, there is more than one way to skin a cat, band together and get a new coach. I'm not putting all coaches in the same category as JM but I know so many parents who are not happy with the coaching and still sign up and either watch their kid not play or not get better.

60 kids showed up to United tryouts because JM advertised the tryout was for 2 teams - 2022 and 2027! JM told parents at try outs he was taking 24 kids for United 2022, but he ended up accepting 28. Fact - Last year, JM added 8 kids (plus a 9th extra goalie for practices only) last year after try-outs and after the season started. Of course he will do the same again this year.

Parents with kids who have been on 2022 Team United really should post these expwriences on the 2027 forum thread.

He’s thinking like a college coach who carries 50. The majority of the team will be practice players. They are there to help the starters prepare for games. Don’t worry, they will all share the winning trophies.

That’s is 100% the case. But nothing new. They will carry kids at the request of the parents for the practice or parents who need to say their kid is in that team. Those parents will eventually realize that 1000 progressions with elite players does not compare to playing time.

This year is a big restructuring change in the travel lacrosse dynamic! New clubs, exsisting clubs going to one team per grade, a lot of room for movement. Why would you stay on a 35 man team and not get playing time! If you really watch these A teams play their are only 5 or 6 kids that are separating each team. I watch this with express, 4 years ago they were gonna fold, a couple of years later they are the team to beat! Now 91 is the big dog. These new clubs are ungrading how the system works, at this point any club with more than one team per grade is a money grab!

Place your kid where he belongs and he’ll thrive imho.. 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, run cross country, and the hit wall daily and your son will be better. Way better than being a practice player. Put the hard work in, other than working your wallet.

Youth sports is now a multi billion dollar industry. It’s not changing, but will evolve like everything. Lax, like any other industry with a similar product with rising prices, rising competition, and it appears rising demand will change. Once demand wanes, even a little, competition and prices, in theory, should adjust or stabilize.

Yep! About right. The many are financing dreams for the few. And, only the top 20 D1 teams play competitive lacrosse.

Sad part about it, parents fall for the big name teams and the amount of money they charge. 4k alone just for tuition for you kid to play youth lacrosse is totally insane. Tell you the truth, there are plenty empty seats at college games if you think about it. But parents are hooked on the "lacrosse crack" and keep coming back for more and more.

In the end you do this because your kid loves to play.
- dont do it for the scholarships. You are better off not doing it then, saving that money, and you would end up having more money for your kid for college.
- dont do it if your kid is not being played. Thats just ridiculous. What is he practicing for. You practice so you will play well in your games. If he is not being played, its a waste. Pick a different team.
- dont do it because your kid wants to be on the top team. You are sending the wrong message to your kid. Being part of somerhing in name only, but not contributing to it by playing in the game, means he really earned nothing.
- dont do it just because you want to tell others your kid is on the top team. Your actually harming your kids self esteem, as he continues to watch others play instead of him.
- dont force your kid to play just to relive your dreams in your youth. Your child needs to choose their own path. That is the only way they will be successful and happy. That should be your goal.

If your kid enjoys lacrosse, pick a team where
- he is played. He doesnt have to be a starter. But he needs to play a decent amount of time in games.
- there is a team environment where there may not be equal playing time for all, but every player gets reasonable playing time.
- there is one team per age group. Or at least your on the top team. All the second teams are money grabs. Its way to difficult for organizations to pull in enough talent at tryouts to field 2 teams in an age group. (And everyone at tryouts wont accept). You are better playing for another club.
- Dont be a sucker paying ridiculous figures. Figure out what they are really giving you for your money. Is it really worth it? Why did tuition go up 25%? Certainly costs didnt increase that much in a year.
- Talk to people who you know or that friends know play for or played for that organization to get a better picture. Get the inside scoop.
- make a list of questions. And call and talk to the coaches before accepting an offer. If they wont talk to you, or give you nonsense answers, then run. It can only get worse from there.
- make sure the organization is investing in proper coaches for your team. Not just one head coach and the rest volunteer daddy coaches getting a free ride for their kid.

Once on your team
- dont switch mid season. It does nothing but hurt your kids image when he tries out for other clubs. And teaches your kid the wrong lesson about following through with his commitment to his team.
- make sure your kid enjoys playing for the team when deciding to try out next season.
- if you find during the season the organization does not follow through with what they promised, then walk after the end of the season. Find another team. Otherwise it will only get worse.
- practice with your kid. And make sure your kid understands practicing daily at home is the only way he will get better.
- when at tournaments enjoy the game. Dont be crazy on the sidelines shouting. Let the coaches do the coaching.
- dont let winning be everything. In the end it should be whether your kid is enjoying thenselves, and developing as a player. You certainly dont want to lose all the time. But you also dont want to win at any cost.

Yes they are. I got emails about them and 9D1 second team. I think East Coast Elite is looking also and maybe renegades. is too. Mostly B teams that are having trouble holding onto players.

A lot people are looking for teams. And choosing is tough.

Maryland about 2000-2500. That usually is all-inclusive, from fall, winter workouts, spring schedule in the past, summer, unis, gear, etc.

The Top Team's on long island charge between $3,500 and $4,000 for tuition. That include fall/summer tournaments, all year practices and uni's. They say that includes everything but there are usually additional charges along the way.

Along with the entire youth travel lacrosse culture. Some charge $40-50/hr for private lessons, tax free! And you know they are making well over the thresh-hold not to pay taxes.

The only way it stops is if we the parents stop paying the outrageous cost of travel lacrosse but we all know the parents with too much money feel their child will be better off playing for a travel team and paying 4k. It has to stop sometime or we will all be paying 6k before you know it!

Too many kids in school teams still cannot catch and throw and have no clue how to get a GB in a scrum. The better players need opportunities to play with kids who have similar skills... travel gets you there. Yes prices are crazy but my kid is not going to get any better playing with kids who have a huge drop off in skill level... at least that is how it is in our school district

Every parent will not boycott playing club so you will see the tuition to increase every year & when the more teams fold (i.e. Bluefish, Dodgers, LI Pride, etc) or get bought out such as the Jesters & Stampede did by 91 among other programs they own, there will only be around 8 key programs around on the island who can then set the marketplace at a figure that will be well over 5k a player... A developmental program/league needs to created like they have in Soccer to have a governing body that is making a small profit to provide different levels of play on a national stage otherwise these private programs will continue to make 40-50k per team which is erroneous even though I am a capitalist and believe these programs deserve to make money however, when they are making 150%-300% profit margins, that's when I think it crosses the line.

But I agree with the other poster with getting private lessons.I want to say that the club coaches don't give the individual attention necessary but it is difficult when managing 20-22 kids & when their jobs are to get the Team prepared with team offense/defense, man-up/man-down, clearing, riding and other schemes so Private Lessons are good for players all any merit..Look at the top pro athletes in the world and still continue to hire a swing coach (golf) (tennis) & many other sports because everyone can enhance their game plus it pushes the athlete beyond their tolerance therefore improving their game.

No need. If your son has a desire to play in HS and beyond... are you with a club that can help him achieve his goals? It’s that simple at this age. He has to want it as well. No fortnight 8 hours a day, replace an hour or two with wall ball, push ups, pull ups. Sit ups and running. No secret sauce or agility classes needed.

What fall tournaments/invitationals are teams signed up for??

Looking for some guidance from parents that have had sons go through the recruiting process already. Would you have your son play on a AA team as a backup with little chance of playing time during the summer tournament season or play on an A/B+ team as a key contributor that doesn't leave the field? Pros and cons of both?

Valid question.. Here are the pros and cons:
1a) Being a Backup won't help you get your son that much exposure being on a AA team & 1b) Depends which team you are inquiring about b/c not all AA programs go to the 'right' events
2) If you were to have said strong A team then I would have also said depends on the program but if it is an A/B+ team, the likelihood of getting exposure At Least from the D1 Colleges will be very difficult.
3) Considering your son is a 2022 Grad, he still has time and my advice would find a reputable team that attends good recruiting events so that he can get some exposure from the D2/D3 programs OR to play up with the AA team to practice against better competition and then attend individual Showcases where your son can then be sure to get on the coaches radars.

Just my opinion and advice based on what I have gone through

Tough question to answer. Can point out pro's & con's.

Depending on which program your son plays for, it may help to stay with that program and hopefully your son will earn a spot for his sophomore year which is arguably the most important year. Nevertheless, see what your son wants to do because at a lot of these Team Showcases (if the club team your son plays for attends them & good ones), the D1's will most likely glimpse at 2022's while D2/D3's will be looking heavily at the Juniors and some Sophomores because they know their biggest challenge are the D1 coaches.

Nevertheless, attend a few individual recruiting showcases so your son can be seen by a variety of schools.

Coaches are not looking at 2022s this year. Maybe next fall at the soonest.

Interesting Question - the bottom line is your kid has to be seen to be recruited. Being a good practice player on a AA team might be good for their skills but he has to be playing in Tournaments and showcases. I would move to an A Team as long as they are committed to playing in the Big Name Tournaments and Showcases. Don't Panic, colleges coaches are looking at 2020's now and just stating on 2021's.

It's all B.S. and a money grab. Your kid will not get jack [ChillLaxin] for scholarship money even if hes a top 10 player on Long Island. The only reason for all the money we sink into travel lacrosse is hope it will get out kids into a better college. Most of the time it doesn't work ! STOP the madness and stop giving in to the machine !

My kid top player, not on a top club team. He got $22,000 A year athletic money.

Yes, there is a lot of opportunity for money in d1 and d2. But you have to be on the field during games. Highlight videos of standing on the sideline doesn’t work. And junk time vs bad teams isn’t the answer. The college coaches know what they are looking at on film and they aren’t watching blow outs at tourneys. After all, the video intro says what club you play for, but yet there is no highlights of your son on man up/man down or vs other top clubs. Time to stop with being a practice player on the best club and find the right club. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time and money and you’ll regret it IMHO.

Example: College Expense: $60K
Team has 12.6 scholarships: = $756K
They offer money to 33 of the likely 42 on the roser = $22K
Key is that it is a private school less at a in state public school.
That covers the cost of five season of club ball.

First, there are not 50 public schools playing D1 lacrosse. I assume you mean a top 50 public university over all. Based on the amount of the athletic scholarship 30K I would also assume he is paying out of state tuition. It is very unlikely that an player will receive 30K of in state money which would essentially be a full ride. There would be no reason for an AD to approve this for a non revenue sport. Not to mention why a coach we need to as most top players are not getting a full ride. Many schools can "stack" financial or merit scholarships to get close. Of course this excludes the service academies which is a totally different situation. Most good to great players such as UA AA will likely be offered 20-30% in athletic money. How many tewaaraton finalists do you think get a full athletic scholarship?

Those are lies. On my sons team alone, I know 2 kids getting over 50% athletic money. My son is one of them. I also know kids including my son who were asked to transfer, and get upwards of 70% to make it worth there while. Funny how money appears when it's needed.

In the 'perfect, ideal' situation, among the 12.6 scholarships that are allocated among the 4 recruiting classes, there would be 12 1/4 athletic scholarships but there are obviously players who receive less and those who receive more. Very seldom will they offer a full scholarship but there are cases when schools will sacrifice 1 of the 12.6 for someone they see a lot of value you or due to different circumstances. When I went to STJ, I was a player who received 100% athletic money for all 4 years of school and knew players only receiving book money, a few grand and the rest in between 1/4 - .1/2 athletic money so it is possible. Remember, this doesn't happen often and not every D1 school is fully funded such as Providence & Villanova.

Just remember if your kid is smart and gets over 1200 on SAT the school can easily stack athletic and academic $$. And actually stack more $$ or much of it towards academic if needed. Under 1200 not sure how NCAA looks at how the $$ are allocated

Express, 91, fl$. They are most recognized brands on a national level. And they get the best players and most recruits. For example, did any other Li club’s players get a Maverick invitation? Are any players from True Blue, Force, Rebels, United, Empire, going? These clubs all have very good players on there rosters. I would think maybe a few from Legacy and Igloo got them, but I would gues 91, Express and fl$ got a lot.

My son attends a private school and will be fine with recruiters, according to the school he is "on the radar" and is already being looked at but again I could care less at this time !

Yea, fl$ has been dying a slow death and have not been relevant in years now, just look at the list of their college commitments. As for other LI Clubs, there are other good teams that get invites due to having a strong program/teams & politics b/c lets face it, it's all about who you know. TB's director is a D2 head coach and has connections. 365 Lax only carries showcase teams but they have gotten players invited & will continue to and igloo has been around for a while with a strong 2021 team on the rise which will help them repair their reputation since their 18-20 squad weren't perennial power teams (I also think their 19's folded last year) & the Outlaws are also in that conversation & I am sure if they had 1 kid they wanted to lobby for, they can get them in. But the obvious ones are Express, 91 & Legacy from a national perspective at all age levels with these new teams + Empire, Force, etc., not drawing that level of merit.

Just a conversation but you the reason we care is next July as rising Sophs, just about every program in the country will be watching players at Maverick and all the other events. Those coaches will be calling kids Sept. 1st 2020 based off what they see next summer and the summer of 2020. Not so far off. Remember your son can contact the coaches and let them know what showcases he will be at. It shows demonstrated interest and the coaches like that. The coaches can’t contact your son until 9/20 but will have a file on players they want to recruit well in front of that.

I have a 2021 daughter and a 2022 son. I can tell you that this past summer my daughter participated in 2 high profile showcase events and there were a ton of coaches at each, but I never saw more than 1 or 2 watching the 2021s. Nothing wrong with experiencing the events and getting the feel for these showcases, but if you ask me, if you are looking for exposure, you aren't going to see much next summer for the 2022s. For those who thought that there would be a landslide of commits for 2020s on Sept. 1st this year, that didn't happen either. Coaches are taking their time and as a consequence there is more poaching of verbal commits these days.

Honestly I dont think my son, or pretty much any of yours will get much either. I let my kid play travel because he loves it and its fun. We played in FL, CO, NY, MD, PA, NJ, etc last year and made family trips out of it. Great time I will miss it when its over.

I concur. Not worth it. If your kid is on a team, speak to the coach about getting time and practicing as a team. There are plenty of tournaments throughout the winter on LI, CT, PA and NJ. The Philadelphia area has some really great competitive programs and the tourneys are well run.

Play club. enjoy it. Skip the showcases. go to prospect days of the schools you are interested in summer of 20, not before, and the calls will come if they are warranted. Speaking as the father of a 20 and a later side bloomer physically. Even then still, at that point they will watch you seriously and recruit you unless you are one of the freakishly fully grown kids at that point--20 of them will be signed immediately. That's it. Slow your roll, save your money.

This is hard to navigate if your son is not one of the top 100. I just had a son go through this and Showcases are valuable if you select the correct ones, some aren’t. Most of his interest can from showcases. Prospect days are great because it shows interest. However, on both accounts, you should email the coaches and let them know your attending, your interest, background and even video. They just can’t communicate back until JR year. And copy your club coach to the correspondences. Lastly, start this next fall and into that following summer.

There are much better teams on long island alone than mustangs, Mesa, HHH, and leading edge. Just because you play in the NLF doesn’t make you good. The rest on list is pretty close. Md rough riders will beat 95% of this list though. So would BBL, who beat express pretty much every time they played them last year. Resolute would beat 3/4 of these teams also. People—get out of the little NLF box your in—much better lacrosse out there. Go play other teams instead of the same teams every tournament. You’ll be better off as a player and a team for it.

Not much, but add Boston. Since they can all beat each other on any one day. In other words, it doesn’t matter. However, what does matter is if you want your son at Maverick, you have to be on one of these clubs from our region. Those are the clubs that Carcaterra is most likely to chat with when selecting kids.

Pretty good but Hawks beat any team on this list or any list 2 out of 3 times. Primetime,Crabs,LI Express all belong ahead of HHH.
91 smash has 1 player that can change a game-but not every game, 91 md top attack is being held back and have to rely on kids from across the country to produce wins in the summer. Has Igloo fell that much to not even make this list or any list?

FCA throttled Crabs 9-2 at Crab Feast and didn't make your list? MD Roughriders lost 1 game all summer. They won the IMLCA Cup Tourney against Leading Edge. They beat Annapolis Hawks and FCA to win Crab Feast. Their only loss this summer was to Duke's in the Semi's at Naptown and a couple of their key players were injured.

FCA lost to Edge, Freedom, and 3D NH at the Summer Champions League.

HHH beat Primetime and Express last season. Mesa beat FCA. The players who couldn’t make Mesa and HHH play for Dukes.

I wouldn't consider MDRR AA and their pull players from their PA team.

I will say without a doubt that United from Long Island is one of the teams to beat ! Revamped roster and solid practice schedule will put this team back in the top teams in the country again !

Sounds like you were on the team last year and are just trying to make up some excuse to bash the guy because you didn't make his squad this year. If you did you would know who he has on his roster. With everyone anointing all of these new clubs as the best thing since sliced bread lets give him an opportunity to prove himself now that he is the owner of the team, not just a coach. I agree with the teams in Tier 1 except 3D and Primetime. Replace with Crabs and LE?.

Crabs got blown out by FCA at Crab Feast and then got knocked out of the semis at Young Guns by 3D Colorado. Good team, but they didn't finish strong. Leading Edge lost 3 in a row at Crab Feast to Roughriders, Eclipse and 3D New England.

Crabs also went to finals of NLF National Championship a couple weeks later. Crabs beat Primetime easily twice last summer. Crabs beat HHH easily last summer. Crabs blew out RR. Crabs beat DC Express. These rankings are notIntelligent and meaningless. All these teams lost games to teams they shouldn't. You know why? Because they were in 8th grade!! FCA is always motivated against Crabs. Who else has FCA beaten in last two years? Hawks lost to teams they shouldn't have. 91 Smash stinks if Jr isn't playing with them. 91 MD was good in the summer but sucked in the spring with just MD kids. Just let the kids play and have fun. All the teams are good and all the teams have good players.

40 man roster. I can’t believe people actually pay for that. Come summer he plays 12-15 kids tops. Fall everyone plays. Checks get cashed, people are happy thinking they will play, then summer rolls around and they sit. Guys a genius.

There is two types. People that made the team and belong and then why are the team group. When the teams are split this weekend the lesser of the split should be in the B bracket. They will not win a game in the A bracket.

Must be the reason, because it's certainly not to get recruited or even get better. Skills developed by playing in an actual game are FAR different than what one gains in practice.

Yup and this will get serious over the next few years. No way will the bench kids play at showcases. Club PR is all about recruiting. IMHO 91 should let all those Crush kids play for free this year. They have brought so much good PR for 91 based on their accomplishments and commitments.

Sorry bud you were average last year when the one player was out. It’s ok. 91 is average too without jr. but with jr they are better than you.

It true. They have the best middie in my opinion. But they have a lot of other top level players at every position. Size will maybe hurt their roster depth as some of their players have yet to hit their growth spurt, but they’ll be in every game vs the other top tier teams. And rest assured 91 will be as good. At this age, 91 goes chill during the fall and lets the kids enjoy playing football and they enter a Nov tourney or two, they’ll play box all winter and pick it up club lax after the school season. So none this matters until Summer Season starts.

Let’s be clear, I am not your “bud”. Despite multiple injuries last year, the Express team still competed at the top level and won multiple tournaments with the top teams. Neither 91 or Express are just average without their best players. Two of the best teams in the country. As for which team is better, hopefully they will play eachother this year. The Express team’s historical record against 91 speaks for itself.

Plus, wouldn’t any team, in any sport, at any level, take a step back when their best player is out. It makes no sense to say without this player, blah blah blah. Such an inane point to make.

Blatant was light fall tourney. many boys didn't play due to football. most wont play together again until after spring high school season. many will play varsity as freshman, many will play in the private school league. enjoy the ride. most of these teams would dominate their age groups across the entire country. be happy about that. I like the way you changed the facts a little there to make it look like they made it to the same round, but....express lost to 91md in 1st round playoffs. Smash beat hawks 1st round of playoffs. Then smash lost to 91 md in the next round while express beat hawks in consolation game. Pretty tricky though. And I’m sure you’ll say well look at the scores. But...if we are looking at the scores that would make 91md the best team in the grade. Not express, not smash. Express is a great team but you have to admit they had a rough go last year. That’s all.

Crab Feast is a great tournament. Playing in both NLF tournaments and Crab Feast is a good summer. The Millon tournaments are pretty good also. Not sure if he's having a 2022 tournament this year. NLF tournaments exclude FCA and Igloo. Millon tournaments exclude Crabs.

Everyone knows how smash does depends on whether Jr is playing with them. Smash won the NLF tournament on LI last summer with Jr playing. They lost in semis of NLF National Championship but Jr didn't play with them that game as the 2020 semis were at he same time.

I disagree. I think 91, Express and Igloo have one or two kids that makes them great teams. We all know who they are. Take them off and then I agree that they are well Balanced very good teams. If Jr does play for 91 it would have been their third year in a row without winning a tournament. They know it. Same with Express. Watched Igloo play this weekend and I think their best days are behind them, too small, but well balanced. The amount of parity in this age group is incredible.

I am not sure where you get most wont step foot on a college team. heard that for the last 7 or so years. well speaking from experience you are wrong. Most over 50% of the boys my sons played with and against played well through jr year in college. While some did quite after Sophomore year and even less quite for reasons outside of academics, most did not only get on a team but most played. and that was boys who graduated HS 16/17/18 and looks just as good for the younger grades.

Agreed! Watched 91 play Igloo in Millon Championship (sons team lost) Jr scored almost every goal. Team is good without him but not a top team. With him they are one of best teams. Unfortunately we did not play them at all last summer
