9 from OSU, PSU and Penn out of 25 guys - 36%.
10 are currently seniors in HS.
I believe the last go round Team USA only had two that were not in college the year prior to the games.
The talent level is so high across the board that cutting from the 100 to 50 to 30 to 25 and then 23 for the games is next too impossible but I am quesitoning so many of the players from the 3 schools where the coaches are from as well as taking 10 that are in HS when I would think a year in college would be preferable.
Not hear to disparage anyone as all are extremely qualified - time will tell if the coaches picking their own players and such a "young" team will work.
Good luck in Canada!!!
Kind of interesting that Garden City High School lost 7 games last year which as per this team had 2 of the top 6-7 defensemen in the country on that team. Kind of a joke if you.

this could be a result of the hold back issue getting more prevalent, I doubt very much that this team is "younger" then past U19 teams since this is age based but the fact that we have so many kids repeating a grade it might be that there just are not that many U19 eligible kids in college as there used to be

Both of those GC defenders are OUTSTANDING players. GC's losses certainly were not because of them. Great, great players. Congrats to both (and all the other players who made the team!)
agree. those two were the difference between a very very poor record and where they wound up. no offensive threats very young
three Goalies and three FOGO? only 4 attack? Does that make sense?

any clubs have multiple players represented?

All Crabs HS junior and seniors are to old for U19.
FCA National has 8 who played on their Vail or NHS teams

Were those one time only invites? Other clubs also had a few kids that did guest appearances. Don't think that really counts. Many of these clubs invite top kids to play in elite tournaments. that does not mean they play for that club.

they'll need to submit 2 of the 25 as alternates prior to start of tournament - most likely a goalie and fogo. Makes sense for specialty positions. If you only keep 2 on 25 and 1 gets hurt between now and july then all eggs would be in one basket. If that player got hurt during tournament then it would be big trouble. One or more of the middies is penciled in as 5th attack
Looneys had 3 members of their original 2015 team 2 of which turned 19 last week so they were not holdbacks. For the most part, the Catholic prep schools don't do the re-class holdback crap. That's BL Gilman and McDonogh. Notice that the only BL player is still in HS.
This team lost to Canada in a scrimmage a few weeks ago. Supposedly, the Canadians only practiced together a few times, yet the USA had a whole training camp etc. Why did US lax decide to have college coaches run the program? USA has never lost this tourney before, yet they wanted to change they way we put together a team? Doesn't make sense to me. What was wrong with the previous structure? Not to mention, it is not like OSU, PSU or UPENN are lighting up the BIG10 or IVY. I think USA will lose to the Canadians.
The game has always had a bit of politics in it. Coaches kids get more playing time. Kids from certain HS prog get better looks. But, this U19 team stinks to high heaven of political maneuvering by the coaches. I hear the Alabama kid (OSU recruit) is really good, but aren't there current college frosh that are better?
