just so I understand this, the goalie that made the team was guaranteed the spot over the goalie that had been on the team for 3 or 4 years before the tryouts? and the kid that played on White last year and made the Orange this year was guaranteed his spot and neither one made the team because they outplayed other kids at the tryout?


No kid on last year's white made the orange - if that were true, what would that say about the Express coach's ability to judge talent? No kid improves that much in one year to jump two levels and break into a "national championship lineup" - unless the Express screwed up, heaven forbid.


This comment is ridiculous. There definitely are kids that can improve that much in one year. & why would that mean that Express screwed up? Kids grow, their bodies change, they develop a bit of confidence that they had been lacking, they just become better due to hard work & focus, or as the prior poster said...they just outplayed other players @ the tryout! It happens all of the time in ALL sports.
