Look if these Mid-Atlantic teams believe they are so much better, I believe they should just go to the U-15 championship and test their mettle. No age disputes, no whining, in that tournament.
Why won't they do it?

I am willing to bet it is not even a parent associated with an MD club, just some schmuck that has nothing better to do than see if he can start a fight anonymously.

We have been traveling to play MD teams for years and I have met dozens of MD and PA parents and kids and they have always been 1st class competitors. Likewise most of the families on LI are also 1st class. However, in all cases we have some nut jobs and apparently one or two of those nut jobs have infiltrated an otherwise enjoyably sight where I come to see what is going on with this age group.

Like anything else in life, take what you want and leave the rest. Simply don't respond to the nut jobs and they will get bored and leave.

As for the re-class year, anyone can do it, I choose not to follow that trend. While it may be helpful on a lax field and in some cases academically, it is not the right decision for my family even though that might put my son at a advantage for a coveted d-1 lax spot.

I love the sport and would love for him to play at that level, but would much prefer that he keeps his straight A gpa and goes on to a successful, meaningful and productive life and career.

Lax is fun, but until they start giving more than 12.5 scholarships and until the pro teams start paying real $, it will remain just that-fun.

Direct from USLacrosse.. "U13:
All players must be 12 years old or younger on the August 31st preceding competition. It is recommended that when multiple teams exist within a program, the program should consider physical size, skill, and maturity when organizing teams."

Everyone was rusty. It us march. Summer tourneys are for bragging rights.

You sound like a reasonable person. Its just the way the other parent is pounding his chest and claiming all out superiority by MD teams. Like you said it was a spring tournament. You also point out your child turned 14 in October of 2013 and is a 2018 Graduate. My son turned 13 in Nov of 2013 so your child is a full year older. This is due to different cut off dates for schools in NY and MD etc. During this particular time of development in a boys life a year makes a big difference. We cannot deny that. So as many LI parents have said in the past when we play MD and PA teams there is an age difference in kids graduating in 2018. It can even be the same for some LI teams who have 1 or 2 hold backs. At 3D Blue Chip my son had 3 to 4 players on his team from MD and PA who were almost 2 years older than him in his 2018 group. Until USA lacrosse goes to age based cards like soccer this will always be a contested topic. Are your kids playing within the rules of US Lacrosse yes. Is there potential for a player playing in the 2018 Graduating Class to be 2 years older, yes. It is what it is.

The Express 2016 is a pretty good team. The Turtles 2017 is an excellent team.

This Express 2018 team is just ok.

Back to Lacrosse. The 2018 group is filled with many talented players. I've heard some have been asked to play at the HS level.

Are there any playing on Varsity?

Any playing/starting JV?

Please, no BS and no names. Best to all the players at this age group.

I could name about a dozen players who played for their dad coach at a H.S. program. Usually the coaches kids are very good. I'm sure this is the case here.

Same situation with Connetquot. Coach's son is a stud, who was completely toying with the middle schoolers as a 7th grader!

Matt Danowski did not play for his father in HS, John Danowski was coaching Hofstra at the time. When given the opportunity to play for his dad, Matt chose Duke over Hofstra. I am not sure of his grades but maybe he couldn't get into Hofstra (for all you Express parents the last part was a joke)

Anyone have insight into the Nat Invite Best of Best individual showcase for 2018's on July 4th? Was invited but would like more info than the site provides before registering.

Any insight is appreciated. Please don't tell me it is a money grab - I think they are all money grabs - it is the one thing I know already.

Nat 175 has historically been a very good venue, organizers have great connections with many College coaches. The 2018 events they added are specifically for those kids who are trying to play at the D1 level. They say they are capping the grade at 84 players. Which equates to about 4 teams. It seems that 175 added this because the coaches are looking for showcase type venues to observe 2018 players this summer. Whether we agree with it or not, it seems like interest in early recruiting is accelerating with no signs of slowing down.

Worst case its just a really good (overpriced) clinic. Keep in mind the Brine is Jun 30, July 1st, 2nd & 3rd. And Best of the Best is the 4th. And the weekend before is huge tourney weekend.
