I have no sympathy for the MadLax families. You got what you signed up for.

The Hawks had some sympathy, it would have been 30-1 had they kept the pressure on them. It was 9-1 at the start of the 2nd Q.

Question for the Crabs and FCA parents with kids who go to McDonough and BL… and this is an honest question, not meant to be snarky: why don’t your boys play on the 8th grade teams for those respective schools? We’ve played them this spring and their teams are terrible, they certainly could use those kids

Only one interesting or surprising game yesterday, Team 91 took FCA to OT. I’d be interested to hear what happened there. Some might find the 15-1 MadLax beat down surprising, but not really.
The last two weeks will be fun. Clearly three teams are head and shoulders above everyone. But it looks like a lot of teams are in the running for the last playoff spot.

Two teams are head and shoulders above. FCA is missing something from prior years and look like they have more in common with the rest of the pack. Should be interesting last few weeks.

Are they playing JV instead?

Not really, it will be NL unless 91 beats ML and NL the next two weeks, since NL has wins over DCE and ML.

How did Hawks manage that without having one of the two elite 2028 goalies?

FCA is in big trouble without their Fogo, that’s what happened.

HoCo coaches need better concussion training. A concussed player was sent back in the game and things clearly got worse from there. When kids take significant blows to the head they should come out of the game for assessment and coaches should err on side of caution before subbing them back in. These games are meaningless fun but concussion impacts can be serious and last a lifetime. It shouldn't take a kid lying on the ground, puking, or not knowing where he is to diagnose a concussion. Hope coaches and the league will do better for the kids going forward.

No dog in the fight at elite but closely watching. One thing is clear and has been mentioned above. You can’t survive in elite without an elite faceoff specialist and elite goalie. You can survive with those two positions filled with elite players but will struggle to make it to the top without the rest. It seems the top of the division has that covered plus more. But on the bottom side I’m not sure switching just two guys from one team to another wouldn’t make a bottom of the pack team at least competitive for the forth spot. I watched team money for a half yesterday not win a faceoff and the goalie did not stop a shot on goal. According to kids on my son’s team they have not had their faceoff specialist since the hawks game due to injury and are missing a mid fielder who apparently is a key player. I was more surprised to see they did not do better against madlax. The Hawks will win the division but crabs not make it an easy win. I think it will come down to possessions and pre game planning.

Did this happen this weekend? That is terrible.

Obnoxious Madlax goalie dad kinda quiet today. Hawks hung 15 on his kid and it could have been 25 if they kept their first line kids in the game.

Does 24 go to BL? He’s not on the BL 8th grade team. What about #7 on FCA? Does he go to McD? He’s not on the 8th grade team there either… why not? Are they actually in 9th waiting to reclass at some point in the future like those 2Way kids up north?

I was there… the play where the kid was injured did not appear to be much contact. Next thing we know, he’s on the sideline and they’re calling for a doctor while the game is still joking on (about 3 min left). Couldn’t understand why the refs didn’t immediately call the game, it took them about 5 min to realize what was happening on the sideline. Tough to blame coaches, I’m sure the last thing they’d have done is send a kid out who’s at risk, and the game was already well decided.

The FCA kid doesn't go to McD. Stop talking about kids particularly when you don't know them or have any details.

Listen mommy, just because a kid isn't on a middle school team you're expecting them to be on doesn't mean they are in 9th grade. My son's middle school team has players from 2 of the elite hoco teams and 3 AAA teams. There are still others who don't play for various reasons, none of which are that they are in 9th grade. Some come to some games and not others. Did you somehow get all of the middle school rosters (strange behavior), I'm not sure we even have one TBH.

My son is young for the 2028 class and the reclass thing is annoying but the reality is it's almost over and 2029 doesn't (really) have reclass issues and this is the game as it's played. You should cry to your husband about it and see if it makes a difference. I'm sure he'll enjoy the conversation.

You should also look in the mirror when calling out kids by number, I know both of the kids you're referring to. Neither are currently in 9th grade.

Game was 8-2 in the 2nd, FCA took their foot off the gas, 91 made them pay and 91 played make it take it.

91 got a flag at the end of regulation, FCA came up when it mattered in OT.

91 playing zone defense all game is sad.

It's all on video clear as day: Kid is slashed in back of head by his own teammate who is going for ground ball. Force of the slash drives FCA player's head into turf. Kid has trouble getting up and holds his head in pain. Cameraman in crow's nest immediately calls out: "He is concussed." Refs stop game. No flag because he was slashed by his own teammate. Coaches take him out. At that point system worked. Next step should have been a grownup telling him he's done for the day. But score had gone from 9-1 to 9-6. Game got tighter. 'Old school' lax culture takes over and FCA sends FOGO back out with his 'bell rung' despite clear concussion symptoms. Someone on FCA sideline should have spoken up. Instead, grownups let that kid down. And FCA coach (assistant?) owes DCE coach an apology for chirping and saying "Good job! Hope you feel good about this" (gesturing to hurt FOGO in distress as people start calling for an ambulance). The FCA coach escalated tensions and game got chippier. Game called after dirty hit by FCA player who cross checked the head of DCE kid half his size. FCA sideline cheered wildly as DCE kid is injured. Again, it is all on tape. Hope HoCo reviews and takes action to prevent future incidents.

You clearly weren’t there and clearly aren’t involved. you’re not even half right about the initial hit, I’m sure you mean well and appreciate your concern but you don’t have a clue.

I'll clear it up for you. He gets hit by the DCE kid's shoulder before the stick to the back of the head by his teammates stick which had 0 force.

I'd suggest you let the coaches, league, doctors and parents deal with it rather than thinking you've found the Zapruder film and playing detective on an anonymous message board.

1:15:25 - Concussion causing hit occurs during faceoff when #9 accidentally tomahawk chops #5 in back of head. Kid's head is driven into turf and he remains on ground clutching head. Play is blown dead to tend to injured player.

1:15:45 - Cameraman: “He is concussed.” FCA coaches saw it right in front of them.

1:20:15 - Concussed player is inserted back into game after DCE goal makes it 9-6, early 4th quarter.

1:30:30 - After FCA has gone back up 13-6, coach is heard asking #5 if he is ok as kid goes to take another face off. #5 is not okay. He's led off field by a coach, holding his head in pain.

1:31:25 - Ref comes to sideline to announce penalties on two players away from ball, one from each team. Things are spiraling off camera and you can hear adults rendering aid.

1:31:38 - FCA coach engages BLC coaches, points to injured kid and says: “Look at this. Good job!” Other adults are talking about calling 9-1-1 to help concussed kid.

1:32:20 - FCA sideline is asking if there is a trainer.

1:33:40 - #3 on FCA delivers vicious hit to smaller DCE player's head. DCE kid is injured and FCA bench erupts in cheers and high fives for the player who delivered blow.

Here’s the game film. This poster is 100% correct. The FCA wing player #9 comes in and inadvertently chops the injured player right on the back of the neck. It’s clear as day when you slow this video down.

The FCA coaches are completely at fault here, despite what they’d like to admit. Particularly the way they handled the end. Great Fellowship of Christian Athletes, what an oxymoron in this case.

Just watched, not 100% conclusive but yeah definitely looks like the FCA kid took a whack from his own guy. And yeah the hit at 1:33:40 was lame and nothing to celebrate, that kid was half his size. That said there were def some questionable hits going back and forth between each team there towards the end so no one's completely innocent here.

FCA coaches sending that FOGO back into the game was borderline criminal, he was holding his head and staggering off the field. It's irrelevant at that point whom they thought was responsible for the hit, he should not have gone back in the game, period. As mentioned the guy taking the video could see it and remarked on it, the coaches on the sidelines should have been able to see it as well. Unreal to put a kid at risk like that. Really scary being at that game and seeing him lying on his back like that for 10-15 minutes with EMTs coming in to put him on a stretcher. Had no idea at the time that that was what happened.

Yikes! Really hope both kids are ok. FCA coaches are good people. They made a mistake. But hit at end is egregious and team celebrating injuring an opponent is a bad look for entire program.

I just watched and this is awful. The FCA coach was taunting the DCE bench is an old looking white haired guy who should have more maturity than that. Is that the FCA head coach who is also the Calvert Hall coach? and FCA's #3's retaliation hit on the DCE player was a deliberate attempt to injure a defenseless player, and a hit to the head. he didn't even think about playing the ball. If the game had not been called, that should/would have been a 2 or 3 minute full time penalty and an ejection. But the FCA coaches and players were high fiving and congratulating him for head hunting while literally stepping over their own injured player laying on his back waiting for an ambulance!? shame on the coaches on both teams, especially FCA, and the refs, for letting that game get so far out of hand. and shame on the FCA coaches for sending an 8th grader who they knew or should have known was concussed back into the game. and shame on the FCA posters who defend this or smear ("playing detective") the people who are calling it out. let's hope HoCo makes a statement and suspends the team for a period of time.
