Yeah, would say that for the Skywalkers/M&D game, this was the issue more than yellow cards. Refs seemed utterly confused and ate up more than 10+ minutes of game time repeatedly debating one another's calls, overturning calls, and sometimes then reinstating calls. At no point were the girls allowed to just play.

Explain how it’s a disservice ? So you would suggest 4 10 min quarters and less play time ?

Yeah, yeah...standard response to anything related to refs. So the implication is that if someone is not willing or able to do the job then they can't be unhappy when those they trust to do the job, and who get paid to do the job, don't seem to have basic understanding of what's going on? Okay.

Totally agree. One ref in the Hero’s/Pride game seemed particularly unfamiliar with the rules. I second the quarter format and would love to see a shot clock but that will never happen as the NGLL did not even have a flip score board this weekend. That is a bad look.

Anyone see the M&D v Sky Walkers game? That was closer than expected. Did Sky Walkers get some soccer players back or something? Going to look more like the team they were at the end of last summer than their performance in the fall?

How about Coppermine v Crush? Tight game.

Skywalkers always improves as they head towards high school. People have been saying it on this board for a year

improve = import new talent from surrounding areas. They don't magically improve the talent they failed to improve for years.

They didn't improve from summer to fall... Wondering a bit more specifically how they look now and why..

they have a hand full of good starters that have been there for a couple years but OK they took good players at tryouts last summer. But either way the team has improved . They got a new coach and were already doing better last summer and with added talent they're better. I mean M&D has taken girls from
coppermine and crush and you're not commenting on that

All the teams improve from year to year. When it comes to Heros being at the top now we're supposed to believe they just got better and started playing as a team, why can't the same be true for Skywalkers improving season to season? And every single team takes players who played on other teams year-to-year, it's normal movement.

Coppermine vs Crush was a tight game. Not sure why Crush pulled their goalie at half. Glad they did

Some guy with too much time on his hands posted the predictions below on the DC message boards:

"Way too early NGLL Playoff Bracket Predictions based on schedule and relative strength:

1. Coppermine (#2): 8-0 (could go 7-1 if they have a rough outing against Hero's Green)
2. Hero's Green (#3): 7-1 (6-2 is their floor)
3. MDU East (#8): 7-1 (6-2 is their base)
4. M&D Black (#6): 6-2 (5-3 is possible as they have 3 tough games remaining and did not dominate SW)
5. Crush (#7) : 6-2 (could go 7-1 if they beat M&D)
6. Pride (#11): 6-2 (Need an upset to go 7-1; would have to stumble in a game they are favored to go 5-3)
7. Sky Walkers (#27): 5-3 (win the games they are favored in, and they should be in)

#8 Seed is the toughest call. I'm going with Stars:

8. Stars LB (#45): 5-3 (have to beat Hero's White again, and MD United West, who had their number in the Fall, to get to 5-3 and earn a 1st rounder against Coppermine or Hero's Green. If Stars loses one of those games, they could join a group at 4-4 and would be judged on goals against, where they could still make it based on comparative schedules.)

The next group that should hit 4-4 and get to the tiebreaker stats includes:

-CCL (#31): 4-4 (they play 4 teams in the top 11)

--3DMD (#40) 4-4 (4 tough games; would have to beat Sky Walkers or MDU East, or keep goals against low and hope Stars and Hero's White lose winnable games, to get in)

--M&D Red (#32) 4-4 (3 tough games, a higher ranked Sky Walkers, and a couple toss ups await, but they came out of the gate strong).

--FCA (#49) 4-4 (2 top 10 games, but the other six should be competitive. Would not be surprised if they go 5-3 or 3-5).

The 3-5 group:

--Hero's White (#55): 3-5 (avoids all 5 top 10 teams, but plays 6 teams ranked higher).

--M&D West (#48): 3-5 (looking at 0-3 out of the gate, should win 3 of their last 5).

--MD United West (#67): 3-5 (plays a balanced schedule, but will have a rough time based on their first outing against M&D Red.)

No chance:
--NEMS (#85) will likely get its only win against MC Elite this weekend.

--Integrity (#86) possible, but hard to find 3 wins on their schedule.

--MCE (#199) Hope the players and coaches can keep their chins up. Good luck parents."

--How does CCL beat Integrity by only 2, and lose to Coppermine by only 2?

--Is M&D Red now the clear best B team, and an A team in their own right?

--Will M&D's tough schedule make them a 5th seed?

--What happened to 3D MD against Sky Walkers, and M&D West versus Pride? (yeah, that's two questions in one)

--Is Crush now the clear #3 in MD after Coppermine and Hero's?

Some really great lacrosse was played today. There were a few blowouts though, when will the NGLL start having some oversight on the division placement so we stop having teams in the A division losing 19-0 and 15-0. That is not fun for the winning or losing teams.

But the losing team gets better playing top teams!!! Sarcasm for sure. An hour drive to have a bad practice for top teams.

I agree. There needs to only be 5 teams in the A bracket, so we can play each other OVER, and OVER, and OVER, and OVER, and OVER, and OVER, and OVER, AND OVER again. And then talk about it. Thoughts?

Power Rankings:
Heros - slight edge over Coppermine due to their "play as a team" mentality
Coppermine - same ole same ole, weak schedule this weekend
Crush - statement weekend making them a clear number 3
Pride - tough middies will keep them very competitive and a tough out
Skywalkers - bringing it together?
M&D - the name can only carry you so far
MD United - tough schedule this weekend
NEMS - dominating win this weekend
M&D Red - ranking will drop as they face tougher competition the next few weeks

I contemplated responding like you did, with maybe a few less "and OVERs", but you make a good point. These same 5 teams will see each other consistently in tournament brackets this summer and beyond as well. Ultimately, expanding the group and the playoff bracket was a good thing. It wasn't ideal for multiple teams with no head to head to miss playoffs on goals against last year. Just not sure we needed the full 18, or got the right group.

I would flip M&D Red and leave off NEMS, but otherwise, I can't disagree with this. Until someone explains the 2 goal CCL win for Coppermine, I would give Hero's the edge as well. Sounds right on Pride, but they have to beat MDU to stay there. Crush had a big weekend.

There’s 18 teams in A, 4 could be moved down to make it a 14 team division. There should be 3 divisions so games stay competitive.

Thanks Hero's Dad. LOL at thinking Pride and Skywalkers are ahead of M&D when M&D just beat SWB. Coppermine has too much offense for Hero's in a full field, full length game.

Please explain NEMS dominating win. There are 5 other teams better then them on the standings. Why even on this power ranking list?

The people that were bashing Coppermine for not playing girls better not have been M&D parents because there were quite a few M&D players struggling to get off the sideline…just like every top team

Every team has subs who play less than starters. Coppermine goes whole games without players ever setting foot on the field. Sometimes they go in with 5 minutes left in the game and a blowout. Coppermine’s coaches have no idea how to sub. That’s a fact.

I agree it's been quiet. Mad Hero's dad has nothing to be mad about either, so he's not posting. Maybe after the week 8 matchup.

False. Every girl played in both halves for M&D. The same was not true for coppermine, who had a lead the entire game.

False again every single player played for Coppermine.

Take care of your own team M&D mommy. . Every Coppermine kid played multiple minutes in both halves except 1 with an injury she tried a little in the second half. You 8th grade lax parents are more interested in winning t shirts and other teams than your own daughter getting better. I don’t think either team had any issues during the game but you have to justify why your daughter’s team lost saying they don’t sub. You are just silly.
