Boy's Latin over Spalding 10-1 final. Game called in 3Q due to weather. And the Spalding JV team team beat BL JV team. Next year will be a different outcome once the JV team moves up to varsity. The current varsity team should ALL be cut, they are over hyped by their hot head daddy’s. Can’t wait for the shake up next year. Signed, Disgruntled JV dad. So with the Spalding JV team featuring at least one player migrated from V, what does that mean for playoffs? There is no V player who is playing with JV. There was a V goalie who played in 2 games while the JV goalie was out and before he played in any MIAA V games. Get your facts straight. Honestly who cares about JV lacrosse? Most of the kids on JV teams will never see the field at most MIAA schools. Their careers will end after sophomore season

BL JV is weak this year, but that’s more due to Varsity keeping 50+ guys on a roster instead of more evenly distributing talent. If 5-8 of the varsity benchwarmers were on JV, it would be a huge difference-maker, and there’d likely even be trickle down to the FS level. They play starters deep into the fourth in blowout games so it’s not like those 9/10th graders are seeing the field in a meaningful way. It’s not a way to build a program, but it does keep noisy parents happy since their sons get a jacket. When doesn't BL keep 50 on Varsity and only play 16-18 of them? They usually keep 5-7 juniors on JV and finish in the top 4 every year to make playoffs. They did not keep any juniors this year which is a good thing and look what has happened so far-one win over JC. There are probably 4-6 holdbacks that are junior age.... Buts its BL/Crabs. If you want 5-8 benchwarmers on JV, then you would be moving juniors back down to JV because there are only four sophomores on Varsity and one is a goalie. If Calvert Hall & BL did not put juniors on JV, they would not be top 4 every year. Move juniors up or cut them. Don't rig the system.

No idea what player you are talking about. The rule is a player can play JV if they have not played V in a conference game. I am sure the coaches know the rules and he did not play JV after he played in conference (assuming he has).

In the playoffs all that metters is winning. Excuses get left at the door and expect V kids who dont play much to be playing JV for the win. Pretty sure that would get called out before the game even started. All of these kids know one another. Also, who wants to be the kid that goes down to illegally play for their JV team?

V kids are allowed to play down, but those players must be submitted to league and approved. And those kids can’t play in both in same week. Having any V kids playing down for any reason disqualifies that JV team from playoffs.

St. Mary's must appreciate that Spalding W. That should help them land the 6th playoff spot. Also, props to Spalding on their stream. Never watched it before, but that is very well produced.

With 3 or 4 games left in the conference schedule, the playoffs are shaping up. Loyola, McDonogh and BL are locks with the top spot still up for grabs. 6 wins is probably the magic number to get in. CHC, SP and St. Mary's look most likely to get to 6. Severn will need to win out to get there. Gilman and Spalding need a miracle. MSJ or JC will get their first win on Friday.

Not a Spalding fan, but they have the best game day production. Their social media is up there with McDonogh who probably has the best IG.

Gilman could use some of their players. They [Censored] and no one would want to play for their coach. Sad a once decent program is now a bottom feeder. Gilman has zero chance at ever being relevant as long as they have the current head school , head of board and lacrosse coach removed. Fat chance that will happen that insured a drop to the B conference. Why did they hire a rec coach with no coaching experience!

If you are starting to look at private schools don’t waste your time looking at Gilman. My son and I went to meet with Gilman. The coach is socially weird. Has zero personality and very little knowledge of the MIAA and what it takes to win. We chose another school. My observation, Gilman doesn’t care about lacrosse!! If they did they would recognize the coach doesn’t have it. I don’t see how or why they would have hired such an incompetent person.

I agree the priority at Gilman is education. If the School's management team (Board and Headmaster) can't manage to field a competitive lacrosse team while upholding the Institution's acclaimed academic standards, then be honest with your stakeholders and move down to the B Conference with the likes of Friends School.

Gilman should move down for what purpose? Winning a league title? If any of the bottom teams moved down to the B-league it would be a mess. Every A-team is ranked in the region. All 11. And Gilman is ranked #8.
1. LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD (9-2) Previous rank: 1 Last week: Defeated No. 8 Gilman, 10-6, and No. 14 John Carroll, 14-2
2. MCDONOGH SCHOOL (11-1) Previous rank: 2 Last week: Defeated then-No. 4 St. Mary’s, 7-5, and then-No. 5 Calvert Hall, 9-7
3. BOYS’ LATIN (8-3) Previous rank: 3 Last week: Defeated No. 7 Severn, 16-7, and No. 10 Archbishop Spalding, 10-1
4. CALVERT HALL COLLEGE (6-4) Previous rank: 5 Last week: Defeated No. 14 John Carroll, 14-3, and lost to No. 2 McDonogh, 9-7
5. ST. PAUL’S SCHOOL (6-5) Previous rank: 6 Last week: Defeated No. 14 Mount St. Joseph, 14-8, and then-No. 4 St. Mary’s, 14-8
6. ST. MARY’S (9-4) Previous rank: 4 Last week: Lost to No. 2 McDonogh, 7-5, and to then-No. 6 St. Paul’s, 14-8
7. SEVERN SCHOOL (10-3) Previous rank: 7 Last week: Lost to No. 2 Boys’ Latin, 16-7, and defeated No. 8 Gilman, 10-7
8. GILMAN SCHOOL (4-7) Previous rank: 8 Last week: Lost to No. 1 Loyola Blakefield, 10-6, and No. 7 Severn, 10-7; defeated Cape Henlopen (Del.), 17-6
9. SEVERNA PARK (8-1) Previous rank: 9 Last week: Defeated Crofton, 12-1, and Northeast, 18-0
10. ARCHBISHOP SPALDING (3-8) Previous rank: 10 Last week: Lost to No. 3 Boys’ Latin, 10-1
11. BROADNECK (8-0) Previous rank: 11 Last week: Defeated No. 13 South River, 7-5
12. MOUNT ST. JOSEPH (7-5) Previous rank: 12 Last week: Lost to then-No. 6 St. Paul’s, 14-8
13. SOUTH RIVER (7-2) Previous rank: 13 Last week: Defeated Annapolis, 19-2, and lost to No. 11 Broadneck, 7-5
14. JOHN CARROLL (2-6) Previous rank: 14 Last week: Lost to then-No. 5 Calvert Hall, 14-3, and No. 1 Loyola Blakefield, 14-2

So many harsh words for a man you met for, what, 30 minutes? It’s fine to say you didn’t choose Gilman without adding your 30 min dramatic perception of the guy. Here’s a novel thought for you, don’t pick the school based on lacrosse. Most of the time you will be disappointed.
